Bohemian Forest Elopement Shoot in Montreal

Using a real couple in a styled shoot is always going to raise the game. As well as getting to see the artistic licence and creative freedom of the wedding suppliers involved, you also witness the mad love and the chemistry of the couple hitting you square in the eyes. It’s a heady combination, as this shoot proves.

Marie-Line and Amiel, along with photographer Julia Garcia-Prat and her assistant Soha Isaatafreshi, took to the beautiful location of Mount Royal, the triple-peaked, green and idyllic hill that is the heart of Montreal in Canada’s Québec province, with the aim of capturing magic.

Mount Royal itself is the inspiration for this shoot, said Julia. “A stroll on this urban mountain tells you so much about Montreal’s spirit, and it’s where people from all walks of life are meeting, exchanging and connecting – LARPers, TamTam drummers, runners, yogis, hippies, couples who come to canoodle, and the ones who just dig the sunset while reflecting on modern buildings.”

Rockabilly Meets Halloween Wedding

Choosing 31st October as their wedding date, Lauren and Galen opted for a spooky Halloween theme. With a £10,000 budget they planned a wedding that was quirky, creative and a hell of a lot of fun. They had hints of the 1950s and rockabilly too.

“Our wedding was It was a bit of a mish-mash of industrial vintage (particularly with the venue we chose) mixed in with 50s rockabilly and a bit gothic”, said the bride. “We wanted to squeeze both of our broad interests in there somewhere! Our main inspiration was Halloween. It has always been my favourite day of the year, so having it on this particular day was always something I had in mind. It suited the style we wanted completely so I was overjoyed the venue had this date available!”

The day started with a small, intimate ceremony with just 45 guests. They decorated the ceremony room with lanterns running down the aisle and mini white squashes and flower-filled pumpkins scattered the room. “We kept a lot of traditional elements of a wedding and just gave them our own gothic, Halloween twist. We didn’t want to go too crazy but did want it to be different enough for people to talk about the day and remember it. I was very nervous before the ceremony but once my father had walked me up the aisle, I was absolutely fine!”

Urban Wedding With Retro Cool… & a Gold Sequinned Dress!

Taryn and Mark’s day was a masterclass in urban cool with retro beginnings. As they’re from different sides of the Atlantic, the location was super important to them and refined elegance shone through at their venue, the achingly impressive Refinery Bar, Bankside, London. They wanted their wedding to reflect the fab location as well as harking to some retro styling – and just look at Taryn shining like a film starlet in that metallic Badgley Mischka number and perfect berry lip. Be still, our beating hearts!

Taryn and Mark met for impressive rooftop views of London before making their way into their ceremony together. “We went for a ceremony that was brief, but very meaningful,” Taryn explained. “It was officiated by my oldest friend Tessa, and featured readings by Mark’s ten-year-old daughter, Astrid, and eight-year-old nephew, Digby.” They said their vows in front of a lush foliage wall bursting with fronds of greenery which stood out amongst the slick industrial vibes of the restaurant’s interior.

Rustic Botanical Wedding That Brought The Outdoors In

Sarah and Scott’s September wedding was originally meant to be held completely outside in a beautiful hollow in the trees at Hirst Priory, amidst beautiful lighting and hay bails for everyone to sit on. However, thanks to the UK weather and its mischief, they had to rethink and bring the outdoors in for much of it, including the arch! But then check out those moody skies and try and tell me you don’t love them. Do not fear the rain, people. It can never bring a good wedding day down.

You also have to admire this couple’s gung-ho attitude towards the budget. Sarah told us, “We didn’t have one! We decided from the beginning that we would do everything the way we wanted to without worrying about the cost. We wanted beautiful quality and that is 100% what we got!” When we asked was there anything they really saved money on, the reply was “No haha!! The biggest expense of our day, apart from the venue and two dresses, were our flowers because I wanted (needed!!) so many, and let’s face it they were so beautiful!” Yes, girl!!

Sarah, who got much of her inspiration from Pinterest, described their vibe as “Botanically rustic with a sparkly twist”, and their day really was all about the florals with her flower belt, flower crown and amazing bouquets.

Indian-Inspired Vegan Wedding Under The Stars

Jodie and Tom’s bright and beautiful wedding was totally magical – an “Indian evening under the stars” as they called it – set in Oakham. Jodie explains, “Our wedding was a fusion of inspiration from lots of different cultures, with Mexican burritos alongside Cornish pasties, Moroccan star lanterns and a British Bake Off table, but our main inspiration was India. We wanted the wedding to be about the senses, colours, textures, sounds and scents, which India is of course brimming with, and we just felt it captured our ideas for the day!”

“As part of my company, Hattie and Flora, we use so much colour and wanted to celebrate this. We dressed Kew Gardens for their annual Orchid Festival in 2017, which was a celebration of India,” She continues. “This got me thinking for the wedding and I was truly inspired by the floral displays the Kew team put together – they used dried flowers to make garlands hanging from the ceiling, and we made some smaller versions for the day from flowers my Mum grew in my parents’ garden.”

Jodie’s own bouquet featured breathtaking neon pinks and oranges and super interesting textures, to match her bespoke embellished wedding dress, and Tom’s party all had homemade pompom buttonholes.

Jodie and Tom also went to India for their honeymoon. “It was the first thing we decided once we got engaged,” Jodie recalls, “as it was somewhere we’d always dreamed about visiting since our days of sending each other love letters from our universities at opposite ends of the country. Ten years later, we were planning our wedding and booking our dream adventure together – it really did feel like a trip we were always going to take together. We went with a company called VegVoyages, a fully vegan travel company who pride themselves in off the beaten track adventures and focus heavily on cultural immersion.”

Romantic Rustic Jewish Mountain Wedding

Emyli and Matt’s Denver wedding was rustic and romantic, understated and unbelievably pretty. Inspired by the mountains and an open bar, they brought slick style to the gorgeous wildness for their guests, drawing on their love of the outdoors, motocross, and Emyli’s Jewish traditions for a celebration with serious flair.

Emyli walked down the aisle in a beautiful backless halterneck Sarah Seven dress (and gorgeous lilac hair that’s total #hairgoals) to Hans Zimmer’s You’re So Cool. “Looking back, I wish I’d walked slower down the aisle but I was too excited!” she says. “The sun came out just for our ceremony underneath a chuppah on the Strawberry Creek Ranch lawn and it was perfect. Our small dog, Sarah, fell asleep during the ceremony – in spite of us trying to keep it super short and sweet – so I guess it was a little boring!”
