Brett Symes

August 28, 2014

Sarah and Sibley's wedding was held at The Barn at South Milton. They planned a day to celebrate them, the joining of their families and do have a damn good time! Spending just £7000, they saved money by wearing high street clobber (Sarah's incredible sequinned dress from JS Collections at House of Fraser and Sibley's snappy suit from Moss Bros) having a DIY cake, picking wild flowers and making all their own paper goods and decorations.

Nordica

April 16, 2014

Marissa and Lauren were married in the gardens of St. Anne's Academy in Victoria, British Columbia. They wanted their wedding to be intimate and frugal, except when it came to their photographs. They knew those had to be incredible so they booked the AMAZING Nordica Photography who flew over from Stockholm to shoot the day. The made the picnic baskets themselves, including almond stuffed figs which were grown, dried and made by Marissa's grandmother in Portugal. The flowers were bought from a local market - Marissa's bouquet cost $3.99! They also made all the décor themselves.

Science and History Themed Museum Wedding: David & David

April 1, 2014

David and David met online in 2006. They chatted for a few days and then had their first date at a local tapas restaurant. They both studied at the University of Manchester, so they chose the Museum at the university for their wedding venue. It is an amazing Victorian gothic building, and whilst they didn't really want a 'theme' per-say, there was definitely a scientific and national history thread running throughout the celebration.

March 6, 2014

Cathie and Claire were hitched at Glenmore House. Their wedding was bright and full of fun! The pair both rocked amazing outfits, Claire in a red Candy Anthony dress and headpiece and Cathie in a corset from Fairy Gothmother and trousers by Vivienne Westwood. At their reception they had a popcorn cart, bunting, vintage suitcase for cards and vintage vases and jam jars for the flowers with tea lights.

John Waters and Pink Flamingo Inspired Same Sex Wedding Shoot

Shannon Collins

February 25, 2014

Coming across the most amazingly colourful house by chance one day, wedding photographer Shannon Collins dreamed of being able to do a shoot there. Well fate stepped in, making it a possibility, so she knew she had to make it extra magical! "Last year, I was photographing a couple in Philadelphia for an engagement shoot", wrote Shannon. "On my way home, a few minutes from the location, I drove past a lovely yellow house with tons of pink flamingos scattered across the lawn. I screeched my brakes and drove in reverse so I could capture a quick snapshot of the house. It instantly reminded me of the John Waters film, 'Pink Flamingos' and made me smile."

Love + Perry

July 11, 2013

Hannah and Kristie were married at Quonquont Farm in Whately, MA. Their laid back May celebration was one that perfectly reflected them as a couple. "Kristie's from Virginia and I'm a New England girl through-and-through", explained Hannah, "so we wanted to find a happy balance that would allow all our friends and family to feel comfortable and have a good time. Elegant, rustic, authentic, quirky, and comfortable were all words we threw around during the planning process."

Silly and Fun DIY Wedding: Chloe & Hamish

June 11, 2013

Chloe and Hamish were married in London in April. They wanted their wedding to be fun, silly and totally non-traditional. They were thrilled at how everything went down, starting with their ceremony at Hackney Town Hall. "Hamish is obviously not Hamish's given name, and it hasn't been legally changed", began Chloe. "The registrar was happy to refer to her as Hamish throughout the ceremony, but had to use the given name once. I won't say what it is, but it doesn't suit her at all and it always makes me laugh. I thought I'd probably have to suppress a grin, but when the moment came I absolutely collapsed in fits of laughter and couldn't compose myself, which set all the guests off too. I think that set the tone for the entire day!"

Bookworm Wedding: Stacy & Jo

April 2, 2013

Bookworms Stacy & Jo selected Maynard’s Café, upstairs at Berkelouw Books in Newtown, Sydney as their venue. Although they hadn't hosted a wedding there before, the café were wonderful to work with and really helped the girls put their own stamp on their day. Obviously having a book shop as a backdrop made picking a theme pretty easy. With old books on the long table and books as favours for each of their guests, it all worked really well together.

A Big Vintage Tea Party: Alastair & Lee

March 18, 2013

I'm lucky enough to get to blog a lot of gay weddings, and whenever I do I never really like to make a big 'thing' about the fact that is it one. To me, a wedding is a wedding and love is love and whether it's a guy and a girl, two girls or two dudes getting hitched makes not a damn bit of difference. But with Lee & Alistair's wedding, I just can't help but make a point of how happy it makes me to see these two guys getting married. It's so utterly clear from these photos how much in love they are, and I'm so bloody chuffed to be able to share their story with you today.

Reclaimed & Revisited DIY Wedding: Josh & Scott

Adam Lowe

February 5, 2013

Before I even saw these photographs I knew I wanted to blog this wedding. Wedding photographer, Adam Lowe, described the event to me as 'a mega super awesome gay punk dude wedding' and I instantly knew it would be amazing... and oh boy how right I was! Josh & Scott were married in October at 400 West Rich, a 100,000 sq foot warehouse in Columbus, Ohio. They did pretty much everything themselves and spent just $3000 making their wedding perfect. "We met through a gay social networking and just got to talking", they began. "About three months later we were taking turns visiting each other and three months after that Josh moved to Columbus. Josh is a huge Disney fan and we planned a trip to Disney and Scotty ordered an engagement ring. He proposed to Josh in front of Cinderella's Castle."
