The concept behind Alessandro and Francesco's wedding came before anything else, they called it "This Is Not a Wedding". For them, the words had several meanings. The first was a nod to René Magritte and his surrealist work The Treachery of Images, with its famous declaration, "Ceci n’est pas une pipe” (this is not a pipe). The second was due to the legal reality of their relationship.

Cottagecore Meets Queer Joy

A few years ago, Griffin was performing at a drag show when Jay became the first person to tip them. Griffin winked at him, then a couple of years later they matched on a dating app! From then on, they were inseparable. They were lucky enough to win a free wedding at The Vow Room in Spokane so they planned an intimate celebration that brought together cottagecore styling with astrology, queer joy and a palette of green and orange.

June 17, 2026

Wedding themed photo shoots and editorials often follow a very particular formula, but when wedding planner Catalina Rojo of Celebrations by Catalina set out to organise one, she knew she'd be taking a very different route. Rather than focusing on a couple, or a single bride model, she called in help from a diverse collection of models and suppliers who she knew would help her celebrate inclusivity, creativity, and some really bold design ideas.

June 10, 2026

A few weeks before this shoot took place, the venue wasn't exactly wedding ready. The lease for Continental Square Ballroom in York, Pennsylvania, had only recently been signed. Furniture left behind by previous occupants was still scattered throughout the space and construction was ongoing. Most planners would have waited until the dust settled before bringing in photographers and models but Kyla Edwards of Eternal Moment saw it's potential.

Stag and Bird

March 17, 2026

April and Brandy married twice, both in ways that made sense for them. In July, under a willow tree in the garden of their friend and photographer Courtney of Stag and Bird, the couple made it official. By autumn, they decided they wanted a second day that marked the marriage in a different way. So, in October they drove four hours south from where they live in Kansas City to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Waiting for them were Courtney and her assistant Kendal, along with a loose plan to say some vows at sunrise at Lover’s Leap, a scenic overlook just outside the town.

The Apocalypse, but Make It a Wedding

December 17, 2025

The Apocalypse might not be a theme you'd automatically go for when planning a wedding, but for Kevin and Reagan it felt pretty spot on. They spent a long time deciding whether marriage made sense for them and as their conversations turned were political and grounded in the reality of the world they are moving through together, Reagan kept coming back to one thought: "This is my person to go through the apocalypse with." That was true with or without a wedding but once that idea landed, they couldn't shake it,

The Lobsters for Life Wedding Fair in The Netherlands pulled in makers, creatives and couples from across Europe last month and gave us a look at how alt weddings are evolving outside the UK. We were so excited to be invited along and spent the day meeting vendors who are pushing ideas forward with real intention. If you missed it and you are planning something unconventional on European soil, this shoot brings that same vibe straight to you! Every look, prop and detail was created by vendors from the show and most of them work with couples all over the continent.

Tiny Wedding, Big Love: An Intimate Castle Elopement with a Dip in the Sea

November 3, 2025

Kerri and Katie knew they didn’t want a spectacle for their wedding. No themes, no overwhelming itinerary, no audience of distant cousins and plus-ones. Just them, two witnesses, and the Northumberland coastline stretched out behind the walls of Bamburgh Castle. They live by the sea, so choosing a venue that sat above the shoreline was less about grandeur and more about feeling like home. “We knew we wanted a small intimate ceremony with our best friends and minimal details to worry about so we could have the focus of the day be us and our love for each other”, they said.

This ‘Goth Glam’ Shoot Is Proof That Weird Is the New Luxury

Kat

Stag & Bird

October 29, 2025

This shoot, dubbed Goth Glam by everyone involved, was created out of a need to shake things up. The team wanted to bring together Kansas City’s weirdest, boldest, and most unapologetic creatives and make something that proved “high-end” doesn’t have to mean beige. They called it a love letter to the alt-lux side of weddings: velvet and smoke, drama and decadence, edge and elegance. The goal was to show that goth, glam, and alternative can sit right alongside luxury, without losing the grit.

October 27, 2025

Jade and Simon’s took over Cultplex in Manchester for their wedding ceremony, turning the stage in front of the big screen into their altar. As the bride is polyamorous, this wasn't about tradition or legality - in fact the ceremony was not actually legally binding - all they cared about was creating something that felt collaborative and real. The bride's other partners were also involved in the day, acting as their officiant and doing readings. With a budget of just £3,000, they pulled off a wedding that was totally DIY.
