DIY Wedding with Colin the Caterpillar Cakes & Axe Throwing

Kelz and Will wanted a completely relaxing and fun wedding day, without the taking the typical approach to a traditional celebration. They told us, “The ceremony was partially inspired by pagan and natural aesthetics and our love of the outdoors and woodlands, the reception was inspired by a medieval feast and the party was inspired by us being metalheads!”

They chose the woodland at Edgeworth Polo Club in Gloucestershire for their ceremony, clearing a large circle and walkway from the reception tipi. Kelz explained, “We lined the walkway and the circle with fallen branches, logs and sticks that we cleared from the woodlands which created a really cool stick fence and decorated it with lanterns and jars of flowers. We also built our arch using large branches that we found in the woodlands which we then dressed with paper flowers and material matching our chosen colours.”

Budget-Friendly Colorado Micro Wedding with a Gatsby Inspired Gown

After eloping at home in November 2020 with no formal written vows, Sonora and Jermaine made up for it in the presence of their closest friends and family a year later at the beautiful Table Mountain Inn in Golden, Colorado. They told us, “It was deeply moving, especially because every single guest (all 20 of them!) knows us personally and has been a part of our lives before and after we met.”

The couple met on OKCupid, feeling a connection the very first time they spoke, and had their first date a week later. Incorporating all the things they loved in their wedding, Sonora told us, “I really wanted the planning process to be authentically ‘us’, so we didn’t set a theme. We went with rose gold and blush colours, and were inspired simply by our love – warm, sparkly and timeless. We wanted to throw a party for our favourite people after a year of not being able to spend quality time together.”

Gothic Red & Black Wedding With Peaky Blinders Groomsmen and a Hint of Horror

Taking inspiration from their own home décor along with weddings featured in Rock n Roll Bride Magazine and a shared love of horror films, Jodie and Matthew were determined to create a day to remember. Planning through various lockdowns, their day was a chance for friends and family to meet up again.

“We loved hearing the excitement about our wedding as it was going to be the first big get together since COVID had started meaning there were people we hadn’t been able to see in ages attending. There was a buzz around the big day for over a year and to see everyone’s faces light up when they could see what we had put together, watch us get married and be able to enjoy themselves surrounded by friends and family was such a lovely thing to witness.”

Simple Wedding Day With a Bride In Red, Chip Butties & Five Wedding Cakes

Maria and Joe wanted a day that was all about simply celebrating with friends and family; reuniting and having a great time. Maria told us, “We kept the day very simple for our guests. Only my dad and I walked down the aisle (the bridesmaids were seated with the guests instead) and we had a small drinks reception and then went straight for dinner. We didn’t have speeches, we didn’t have a first dance, and we cut the cake to signify the start of the evening.”

The couple had a £10,000 budget, and saved money with DIY projects, drying flower petals for confetti, making the table runners and putting together flowers for the reception themselves. Joe also chose a suit he could wear again, and the pair opted for high street outfits.

Maria told us, “We were very lucky to have lots of talented friends support us with things like signage and flowers. we saved money by not spending on things we felt we didn’t need like favours and invites – we used a wedding website and sent save the dates digitally.” They also chose five different cakes from Costco, and cut the red velvet one.

Moody Celestial Wedding with Bridesmaid Dogs

Since getting engaged in October 2018, Becca and Ashley’s Pinterest board contained their dream wedding day. Having navigated a few postponement bumps along the road, it all turned out fine in the end and as Becca told us, “Everything turned our exactly like how my Pinterest board dreamed of since we got engaged!”

Ditching traditional bridesmaids for brides-dogs and shooting for a celestial theme, the couple chose a dark and moody palette, with pops of colour in the florals and the natural green outdoor backdrop to add some freshness. “I told Ashley to pick the theme”, Becca continued. “Ashley loves astrophotography and space, so I took that idea and ran with it for our décor!”

Snowy Colorado Elopement at Sunset with Disco Balls & Champagne

Dani and Dacari had been discussing how their big day would look for a long time. Having been together for eight years, they decided to elope because, as they told us, “The stress of figuring out how to include everything and everyone started to chip away at something that was supposed to feel like magic – elopement was the best choice that we could have made for ourselves and our union. We wanted the freedom to commit to each other in a way that felt deeply personal and private.”

The simplicity of an elopement means you can pick and choose exactly what you want (and don’t want!) included, making it deeply personal to you as a couple. Dacari and Dani continued, “The best thing about planning our wedding happened after we broke outside of the expectation of things looking a certain way. We leaned into the idea of choosing things that felt right for us and that felt like fun–and that’s when things really started to fall into place. We enjoyed picking things out and envisioning what our day would look like.”
