The wedding theme for Catherine and Tom's summer celebration was simply all their favourite things coming together into a colourful mish-mash. This translated to colourful flowers, homemade cakes, high street outfits and a fun-filled barn reception. They tied up lots of greenery from the woods with ribbons along one wall of the space and because the barn didn’t have lighting, they strung up loads of festoon and fairy lights for the evening.

Love. Family. Keeping things Simple. These were the three key things Vanessa and Clotilde wanted to focus on for their July wedding. They said their vows in front of only their nearest and dearest at the quirky venue, Downstairs at the Department Store in Brixton. Afterwards they hosted a joy-filled reception at Upstairs at t the Department Store, a brand new restaurant and bar. They didn't want to spend a lot either, with their budget maxed out at £5000.

If you weren't expecting to see a wedding today where the bride looks like a straight-up SUPERMODEL then, dear reader, you were very wrong. Rock n Roll Bride was built on sharing alternative, inspirational yet attainable real weddings. When I started blogging in 2007 there was no other platform showcasing weddings that sauntered off the beaten path. However through many long hours of trawling wedding forums, Flickr groups and good old fashion Google, I was able to uncover many, MANY incredibly creative, super unique real weddings that weren't being shared anywhere else  - I assume because they didn't fit the picture perfect, traditional wedding mould that was so popular a decade ago.

Bohemian Peaky Blinders Wedding with Lots of DIY

December 4, 2018

Charlie and Mark had a pretty unconventional, NSFW engagement shoot (which is actually one of my favourites we've ever published!) so, unsurprisingly, their September wedding shunned tradition too. They decided that they wanted a bohemian inspired by with elements of Peaky Blinders and Wes Anderson. They did lots of DIY projects to make their day feel really special and personal. In particular they arranged all the flowers and created all the paper goods (invites, table plan, order of the day etc).

We're sent hundreds real weddings every month to consider for publication so I'm sure you can imagine it's quite hard to narrow them down sometimes... However there was no question in our minds when we clapped eyes on Alexa and Andries' two day celebration in South Africa. They decided to split the wedding in two, with an intimate church ceremony for just close family and a big reception for everybody else three days later.
