Music Inspired Winter Wedding with an Alternative Church Ceremony!

Sophie Cooke

Sarah Morris

July 26, 2018

Music holds a special place in Katie and Darren’s heart - both musicians, Darren proposed at the gig of one of their favourite bands, and were introduced through musical friends. They’ve always liked to do things a little differently, and so it was obvious from the start that their wedding wouldn’t be predictable. Darren kicked off eschewing the norm when he wrote ‘yes!’ on Katie’s finger with a Sharpie instead of giving her a ring after he proposed!

Being a florist who has worked in the wedding industry for twenty years, Sarah Jo knew she wanted to do something completely different when she married her long term partner (they'd been together 15 years!) Dan. Both performers at heart who's friendship began in a band almost two decades ago, they decided that the only thing for it was to have a rock concert wedding! But not just a concert themed wedding, to put on an ACTUAL ROCK CONCERT and get married up on stage in between performances.

Alright, we need to talk about one of the greatest destination weddings I've probably ever seen: Cara and Tod's insanely awesome, super colourful, don't-give-a-fuck Ibiza wedding! The groom wore a silver sequin jacket and his groomsmen were in NEON PINK SHORT SUITS. I kid you not, you will never have seen a wedding quite like this one before. Simple Tapestry

June 7, 2018

Music is a massive thing for Carrie and Dee, who met at a house party after they'd finished working at Belfast Music Week in 2011, plus Carrie photographs bands for Getty Images (as well as weddings!) so it was a major theme for their New Year's Eve celebration. Their other big love is good food and wine, so the meal had to be amazing! Basically, they said, it was all about everyone enjoying themselves.

Story and Colour

March 24, 2018

With Charlotte and Seb both being musicians and having met on a gig at Spitalfields Festival, music was obviously going to be a star player at their wedding. From musician friends performing and arranging meaningful pieces for them, to what you’ll hear the groom treated everyone to during his speech, this wedding was one of wonderful friendship, family, support and song. Oh and there was Monster Munch and ice cream to snack on pre-dinner, so extra awesome points there!

March 22, 2018

OK full disclosure: I’ve lusted after this wedding ever since I saw it on the incredible Matt Parry’s Instagram last summer. From the brief preview shots he posted of Becky and her black-clad bridesmaids posing on the steps of Preston Court to the handwritten flow chart table plan, it was obvious it was an incredibly special day full of laidback love, laughter, and some legendary stories. Nearly a year later, this has been confirmed, and it’s with total GLEE that I’m writing this up…

Love & Adventures

August 28, 2017

Lame wedding music gives us the sads. It's not easy to find love songs that stand out from typical lovey-dovey wedding crap. If it's not teeth-rotting candy, it's done-to-death repeats from internet wedding song lists. If you've got an allergy to clichéd wedding songs, you'll find the antidote here. Startling as it may seem, there are plenty of interesting wedding songs if you know where to look. We've put together a list of quirky, alternative and authentic songs for daring lovers. It’s taken some intensive research and lot of late night wine and dancing, but it was worth it. We hope you enjoy folks, and there’s a spotify playlist to make your life easier.

It’s Beautiful Here

August 22, 2017

Krysia and Robbie met at the Australian Youth Orchestra’s National Music Camp in Adelaide. When they came to marry, a whole decade later, they decided to incorporate this love of music into the celebration. They always wanted the day to reflect their laid back nature. It was also vital to them to use their wedding to support a charity they believe in, and female run businesses. They had a vegan menu catered by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and only hired female vendors!
