Music and Tattoo Themed Manchester Wedding

Aimee and Drew’s inspiration of their wedding was simple – “Tattoos, music, and us” – but totally effective, resulting in an absolutely gorgeous day. They wanted to bridge the gap of being respectful to the traditional wedding bits that meant a lot to the people they cared about, whilst still having a wedding that reflected them and what they love. They nailed it.

“We didn’t set out to have an ‘alternative’ wedding,” Aimee explains, “but just made our decisions based on what we love, because as a couple we always encourage each other to be who we are.” This meant a gorgeous House of Mooshki dress with red accents, a By Harriet headpiece with matching red birdcage veil, and the most incredible platform heels you’ve ever seen in your life. They also had a retro-tattoo themed cake from Miss Kitsch Cake, and Drew arrived in the van from The A-Team.

Sassy and Romantic Two-Day Festival Wedding in the Welsh Mountains

ARE. You. Ready. For this wedding? It’s the lushest wedding of all time – full of good vibes, gorgeous people and INCREDIBLE suppliers. Brace yourselves, get a good drink in hand and take a breather because you’re going to need to mentally prepare your mind and body for this two-day festival anti-wedding. Captured by the incredible Jessica Withey Photography and immortalised in video by the super cool Costa Sisters Productions

Toni and Lewis’ big day took place on a belting Saturday in July, in the Sugar Loaf Barn in Abergavenny, South Wales. It’s actually a working sheep barn that’s cleared out to hold a handful of weddings each year, making it a super quaint venue that’s a million miles away from providing what Toni called ‘conveyor belt weddings’. Against anything regimented, the couple just wanted the good times, the music and the drinks flowing.

Party Vibes London Wedding with the Bride in Black and Gold Dress

With Charlotte and Seb both being musicians and having met on a gig at Spitalfields Festival, music was obviously going to be a star player at their wedding. From musician friends performing and arranging meaningful pieces for them, to what you’ll hear the groom treated everyone to during his speech, this wedding was one of wonderful friendship, family, support and song. Oh and there was Monster Munch and ice cream to snack on pre-dinner, so extra awesome points there!

The bride’s sister was the giver of great advice during the initial planning. “We were a bit lost initially as neither of us had strong views already in place”, Charlotte explained. “My sister said to just pick all of your favourite things! So we had pizza, cheese, ice cream, amazing music and lots of booze!” The worst part of planning, said the bride, “Was probably the logistics of arranging so many outside hires. The dry hire venue gave us lots of freedom, but it also meant that everything needed bringing in, which meant a lot of emails!”

‘Drunk in Love’ Laidback Preston Court Wedding

OK full disclosure: I’ve lusted after this wedding ever since I saw it on the incredible Matt Parry’s Instagram last summer. From the brief preview shots he posted of Becky and her black-clad bridesmaids posing on the steps of Preston Court to the handwritten flow chart table plan, it was obvious it was an incredibly special day full of laidback love, laughter, and some legendary stories. Nearly a year later, this has been confirmed, and it’s with total GLEE that I’m writing this up…

Becky and Phil describe their wedding inspiration as “Pretty much a big old party with ‘Drunk in Love’ as the mission statement”. To this end, they were pretty chill about much of the wedding planning, so long as people had a cracking time and got drunk.

Rock n Roll Wedding at an Art Deco Theatre

Chanel and Dan’s Cincinnati wedding was held at The Redmoor, an Art Deco landmark that has been entertaining guests with its rich setting and unmistakable ambience since the 1920s! It’s history as an avant-garde theatre really appealed to the couple and suited the Rock n Roll theme that they had planned.

“Our wedding theme was Rock n Roll meets Woodstock”, said the bride. “We wanted the wedding to be different. We didn’t want it to be the same as every wedding we had gone to in the past couple years. We wanted it to be a huge celebration with no sit down dinner and no waiting on the bridal party, just down right fun!”

“I think we did a couple things that made our wedding stand out. We had our ceremony in an old fashion movie theatre and our flower girl went down the isle in a motorised Volkswagon van! Our ring bearer had a band t shirt on and fake tattoo sleeves and myself and my bridesmaids all wore leather jackets.”

Relaxed DIY Warehouse Wedding

Sarah and Jamie had a summer wedding that they described as “Retro with bright colours and lots of food!” The inspiration for the theme came from their love of music, art and food, most of which was provided by family members because they wanted to keep the budget low. Plus food made with love for your best day is always going to add a really special something to proceedings, right?

The couple married at Hull Guildhall, with the reception at music venue warehouse, FrĂĽit. The bride said, “From the start of our wedding planning, the venue was always going to be our main priority, and we have always known that we wanted it to be held at FrĂĽit. We picked a date they had available and planned the rest around that. We felt that the relaxed dĂ©cor (and the incredibly lovely venue manager, Chris), was perfect for us to add bits to and make it our own. As we already loved the venue as it was, we kept things simple. The ceiling was decorated with paper lanterns and fairy lights. The table decorations consisted of hessian cloth and glass jars and bottles collected from family and friends, into which we placed wild flowers from Bloom & Wild. The bouquets came with crazy miniature pineapples!”
