Eclectic East End Wedding Tea Party: Cassandra & Howard

Kat

Robbins Photographic

October 14, 2013

Cassandra and Howard were married at The Roost in Dalston, London, a photographic studio and shooting location. Because it wasn't a traditional wedding venue it meant their whole day was really chilled out and non-traditional, but also that they could completely plan it the way they wanted. "We’d had a really small and intimate wedding ceremony in Cornwall with just our immediate families so we wanted to throw a vintage wedding tea party for friends and relatives here in London", began the bride. "The Roost was an amazing find. It's a former Victorian pub in deepest, darkest Dalston converted into a four floor photographic and film shoot location. My heart skipped a beat the first time we viewed it. It was perfect. I just loved the eclectic vintage vibe and ‘out there’ style of the place. From the gorgeous House Of Hackney wallpapers, to the giant props, old film posters and quirky paintings on the wall. We were just blown away."

Lisa Jane

August 10, 2013

When some of my favourite wedding suppliers get together for a shoot at one of my favourite locations (we shot the Crown and Glory headpieces in the same studio!) I get very excited indeed... and even more so when they ask if I'd like to feature the results afterwards! Wedding photographer Lisa Jane explains, "Elbie posted a picture on twitter one day, asking if anyone wanted to get involved in an inspiration shoot inspired by it and I took one look and jumped at the chance to collaborate with her. Within minutes we also had the lovely Jo from The Couture Company offering to design us a dress for it and Abby From Cherished Vintage offering headpieces. It was amazing to be able to get creative without any restrictions. Everyone let their imaginations run wild."

We Heart Pictures

August 5, 2013

When Kirsty and Steve planned to marry they knew they wanted tradition to play no part in it. This started with their surname. Instead of keeping their own names or one of them taking the other's they decided to merge their two names to create a brand new one. So Kirsty Foster and Steve Pate became Mr & Mrs Fate! When it came to capturing their wedding day they wanted photos that were bright, romantic, playful, with a little kooky edge. They found We Heart Pictures through Rock n Roll Bride and couldn't have been happier with their choice! They wedding took place on June 7th at Hoxton Hall, London.

Industrial Eclectic Downtown Los Angeles: Phil & Joelle

Corey Nickols

May 10, 2013

Phil & Joelle were married at Studio Six01, an event spaces with a industrial vibe in downtown Los Angeles. They planned their wedding in just three months with the help of event planners Two B Events. "Because we had dated for so long, once we got engaged we knew we wanted to do a very short engagement", explained Joelle. "We initially planned on six months, but due to schedule conflicts that ended up being shortened to three months and a day. It was then that we realized we needed help, and Seth and Ziza of Two B Events came to our rescue. I wouldn't have done it any other way! Second to saying 'I do', hiring event designers was the best thing we did for our wedding. I loved every detail but my two very favorite things were the vows and the hanging edison bulbs (especially as seen in the chandelier built by Two B Events)."

Emma Case

February 6, 2013

Red flowing locks, a faux fur coat, deep red flowers in her hair... as soon as I spied the beautiful Lauren on photographer Emma Case's blog I knew she was definitely a Rock n Roll bride. And then I saw the entire wedding and I literally couldn't wait to get it up on these pages - as soon as possible! Lee & Lauren were married in November at Stoke Newington Town Hall. They has their reception at The Artisan of Clerkenwell, a pub/restaurant in North East London. They did things their own way. They picked a non-traditional venue, they homemade as much as possible and only invited people that they really wanted to be there. This wedding was every bit the modern fairytale.

A Simple & Beautiful Irish Wedding: Anna & Mirko

Kat

November 3, 2012

Anna & Mirko wanted a simple wedding with tons of personality. The day was held at Fallon & Byrne, a restaurant in the heart of Dublin. "We met 12 years ago and we never talked much about marriage until two years ago", wrote the bride. "I was getting dressed one Sunday morning and we were chatting away when he just came and out and said 'Do you want to marry me?' I didn't realise it was a genuine question and replied 'Ah yeah why not'. He grabbed me and we start jumping around in a circle laughing. Mirko was shouting 'We are getting married!' and I was like 'Oh Really? Yay!!' It was so funny and this situation sums us up really."

Alternative Asian Bridal Shoot

Kat

October 6, 2012

We don't get to see a whole lot of alternative Asian wedding inspiration, so I was thrilled when I received this bridal shoot with an edge from School of Rock graduate Rabbia Ali Shah from the Asian Wedding Ideas blog. "Seeing the same Asian bridal images can start to get a little repetitive", wrote Rabbia, "and the idea of something a little edgier is one that I had been thinking about for a while. Getting people on board wasn't the easiest of task but getting in touch with wedding photographer Priti Shikotra, changed all that. She had similar thoughts about a shoot."

A Modern Urban New York Wedding: Lesley & Perry

Kat

September 30, 2012

Have I told you yet that I'm off to New York again in under two weeks?! Oh I have? Oh I'm super annoying about it...? Yeah I know... sorry about that. But New York is the greatest city in the world and I'm sooo excited to be there again. EEEK. Needless to say I have a bit of an affinity...or maybe call it bias... to anything and everything NYC right now, which is why I was super excited to receive Lesley & Perry's fabulous modern urban wedding. Sent over by wedding photographer Karen Seifert, the lunchtime wedding was held at 91 Horatio in the meatpacking district, with the late night after party taking place at The Drink, the couple's favourite bar in Brooklyn.

An Industrial Warehouse Wedding in Sweden: Kari & Torkel

Kat

September 14, 2012

A warehouse might just be one of my all time favourite wedding venue ideas. Maybe it's a throwback from my teenage rave phase or maybe it's the fact that it's so raw and grimy - a fabulous antithesis to the over-saturation of pretty-pretty wedding fluff that I'm subjected to by working in this crazy little industry. But either way I flippin' LOVE Kari & Torkel's wedding. They had their legal ceremony 9 month's earlier but wanted a big party in August to celebrate with their friends & family. "We both have demanding work and work long hours as well as travelling extensively," began the bride. "We met through internet dating, both sharing a strong interest for physical outdoor training like running, cycling and canoeing. Since we had cheated everyone by having a small 5-minute ceremony the November before, my parent's decided to reenact this part of the day with my father taking the role of the officiator. We used flower wreaths as a symbol instead of exchanging rings."

Kat

August 28, 2012

I often daydream about what our wedding would be like if we were to do it now (embarrassing admission alert!) and I think I've hit the daydream wedding jackpot with Bianca & Paul. The industrial vibe of their Shoreditch venue is just perfect perfect perrrfect. The space in question is Village Underground, an "evolving project building an international platform for creativity and culture" as the website describes it. SWOON.

“Englishman in New York” – An Intimate Wedding on a Private Yacht: Natasha and Marc

Kat

July 19, 2012

When Gareth & I were in New York in May we met up with photographer Steve Gerrard as he was also over from the UK to shoot Natasha & Marc's wedding! The couple, also from England, flew him over with them as they knew he was their perfect wedding photographer after seeing him featured on Rock n Roll Bride. The intimate ceremony was held in the Ladies Pavilion in Central Park, which was followed by a photo session around some iconic NYC locations (they also met up again the next day to shoot some more!) The reception was on a private yacht with incredible views of the city.

A Contemporary Minimalist Wedding: Hayley & Matthew

Kat

July 17, 2012

"Matthew is an architect & loves modernist architecture and things that are minimalist, well designed & have clean lines so we decided we'd like our wedding to reflect this", newlywed Hayley wrote. "The venue really set the scene with it's amazing art deco features but funky modern interior so we chose not to detract from this keeping decorations & flowers to an absolute minimum & only in white. We wanted the guests & bridesmaids to add the pop of colour which they did!"
