A Bohemian Tropical Wedding in Rio

Raissa and Tony wanted to incorporate all of the colour and fun of the bride’s home city into their bohemian inspired day. Married in September, the couple planned a day that was heavily influenced by Rio and their chosen venue.

“I was born and raised in Rio and it’s a super bohemian and tropical city”, Raissa told us. “I wanted the wedding to represent it. Also, Rio was the place Tony and I had our first date so It is an extremely important place to us.”

They chose Casa da Palma, located at in the Santa Teresa neighbourhood, as their venue as it was so beautiful and colourful in it’s own right – it suited their theme to a T! “It is a colonial house located in the middle of the trees with an amazing view to the city”, the bride continued. “I asked the florist to use tropical flowers and plants for the decoration.”

Bohemian Brazilian Beach Elopement & Pregnancy Announcement!

Larissa and Giovanni wanted their wedding to be as simple as life in the sea – surrounding by just a few people that they love, in their favourite setting, bringing back childhood memories of time at the beach and the smell of the ocean.

They planned their day at the last minute, when their maid-of-honour and photographer was back from travelling to her destination weddings for the season. It was a particularly poignant time for the couple as they were expecting their first child, so it was particularly emotional to be able to celebrate their wedding and pregnancy announcements at the same time.

Vintage Meets Rockabilly Wedding in Brazil

High school sweethearts Camila and Vinicius wanted to combined their love of vintage, music and rockabilly styling for their July wedding. They wanted the day to feel informal and enjoyable for their guests while not costing a lot of money. Marrying in Brazil, they also wanted to buck as many Brazilian wedding traditions as they could!

“The main inspiration for the wedding was vintage and rock culture”, began the bride. “As a source of reference, I used many alternatives weddings that I had seen on Rock n Roll Bride throughout the years. What’s more, my dress did not follow the regular rules of being long and conservative. I made my own headpiece which was a simple clip with metal spikes.”

The outdoor ceremony also began by ignoring tradition. “In Brazil, bridesmaids and groomsmen don’t walk up the aisle with the bride and groom”, she explained. “We decided to mix a Brazilian ceremony with some of the English and American concepts that we’d been inspired by on Rock n Roll Bride. The ceremony was held outdoors in a beautiful, but simple, venue. We had a large house in the background and the altar was placed on a cute garden with natural plants.”

Music and Art Inspired Brazilian Wedding with a Flash Mob! (17)

Mary and Caio lived next door to each other for twelve years before they had their first date! For their wedding they brought together everything they love; art, music, friends, family, décor and vintage. They had an art gallery of Mary’s paintings, an old Volkswagen in the fields, five bands (which had the groom playing in all of them!), friends leading their ceremony, craft beer, décor items from their house… and they partied for nine hours straight!

“I’m a painter, just like my father and my grandfather,” began Mary, “so in the long corridor at the main entrance of our wedding venue, we hung up more than 40 paintings and turned it into an art gallery. We wanted the first impression people had of our wedding to be related to art and for them to get to know more about my family heritage. We also had 14 paintings inside the main dancing hall.”

Isabela and Felipe’s Brazilian wedding had a casual and boho vibe. They were married at a concert venue in Sao Paulo. The day was simply a mash up of things they both liked.

“We didn’t want anything uniform or traditional”, said the bride. “Our venue, Centro Cultural Rio Verde in Sao Paulo was not a usual wedding location so that was different too. It’s a place where lots of independent concerts happen. About three years ago, when we’re just starting to see each other, we went to a concert there and commented that it’d be pretty cool to get married there. That comment was never forgotten!”
