A Modern Boho Bridal Shoot In Rio

Marina Lomar ®

For her bridal shoot, Gabi, a make up artist from Rio, wanted something modern but with a boho twist. Her wedding dress was made for her and inspired by a Chanel gown she saw at a runway show. She chose a cool and elegant hotel in Santa Teresa, a bohemian neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro, for the location.

“The place is truly amazing, with perfect natural lighting and art objects”, explained photographer Marina Lomara. “I loved having the opportunity to photograph a bride so beautiful there. Here in Brazil, wedding photographers generally just have just a few minutes for the bride’s portraits on a wedding day so it was amazing to have two hours to shoot here. Gabi loves to be photographed and made sure to have a special photo session before going to the party. She did her own make up and with the short dress, pixie hair cut and dark red lips she looked like an actress right out of the 1940s.”

  1. Gorgeous! Amazing work Marina. You never fail to amaze me.
    Gabi, you are a DIVA.
Shirley, the bouquet turned out so lovely.
Kat, thanks for publishing these incredible pictures.

  2. I love the strong and severe look of this shoot. She really broke away from the soft femininity of most brides, but did not sacrifice one itty bit of glamour!

  3. This wedding is absolutely amazing – and that dress! oh my gosh.. I love the consistent colours & detail throughout the day. The postcard is brilliant – such a gorgeous wedding!!! Not to mention the outstanding photography. I love discovering new photographers out there. thanks so much for blogging this Whimsical x
