I'm sure you won't have failed to notice that there's a little sporting event going on in London at the moment. Now while I've genuinely surprised myself with how much I've been enjoying it (the opening ceremony was amazing and I'm now well versed in the art of synchronized diving) I can't help but shudder when yet another red, white and blue or Olympic themed bridal shoot (really, come on really, is that the most unique idea flying about at the moment?!) lands in my inbox.Read more...

Julia & James had a handmade and patriotic Great British theme for their September wedding - red, white & blue. "I knew from the moment we started to plan the wedding that I wanted it to be DIY," the bride told me, "and to be able to keep all the aspects to decorate our home. We had so many great comments on the day from the registrar and venue that they had never seen a wedding like ours before. I don't think I've ever featured a wedding from Lithuania on the blog before, but I'm pleased to say that's all about to change...and if there are more Lithuanian weddings as awesome as this one I want to share them as well please! Alma & Aleksandras' wedding was sent to me by their planner Laura Vagonė. "I met these two six months ago, both of them are photographers so wanted to have wedding in some special and at an interesting place. I‘ve offered them an old carousel park and they loved the idea. The ceremony was held at 8am and officiated by the the father of the groom. We had amazing party and the guests were invited to try carousel. They were happy as kids, trust me. We also had a live band playing the whole time. Everything was so great that I‘d like to share that colourful joy with you!"Read more...

The inspiration behind this beautiful Californian wedding, sent over to me by Jerry Yoon Photography, was the ocean. The couple, who met through a mutual friend in Philadelphia and them moved to California, had visited The Monterey Bay Aquarium during their first year living together. "I loved it," the bride told me " the intense blues and greens when you looked down in the water, to the contrasting sand and beaten rocks. I love the ocean and anything relating to it. During that visit, I took a bunch of Polaroid photos at the museum and our walks around Monterey and Pacific Grove. Years later, when we were looking for a location for our wedding, I came across those original Polaroids of Lovers Point Park, and I instantly knew this is where we were getting married."Read more...

Aimee & James were married on The Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, Ca. The day was a 1950′s inspired vintage one with a carnival vibe. The bride wore a custom made dress inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face and amazing blue shoes by Moda in Pelle. The couple were engaged in Paris. Carroll & Dan were married in October at Walker's Landing in the Amelia Island Plantation. Oh I am EXCITED...like, seriously jump up and down and eat a big cream cake-excited about sharing Jamie & Neil's wedding with you today. Why the extra enthusiasm you ask? Well Jamie & Neil were the lucky couple who won the contest for free wedding photography that I organised alongside the the fabulous Kat Braman back in January (you can see their entry here) The couple got married in style on September 18th at the YMCA's Camp Pendalouanin Holton, MI, a place that holds very special significance for the bride. "The whole wedding weekend from Rehearsal on Friday through Sunday morning took place at the Muskegon YMCA's Camp Pendalouan," Jamie explained to me. "Camp Pendalouan has a special place in my heart as I attended girl scout camp there as a child. The ceremony took place at the scenic Boyden Chapel situated on Big Blue Lake and the reception was held in Nikana Lodge. The evening was concluded by a roaring bonfire that could be "seen from space" at the Council Ring of the Great Bear fire circle. The camp setting was just perfect for us since love outdoor adventures. It also gave us extra time to spend with our guests that were able to spend the night in the bunks!"Read more...

I've branded this the 'Quadrophenia wedding' because of all the fabulous retro British details. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside to be English doesn't it? The couple embarked in a lot of diy to make it all super personal and everything from the pub they held it in being called The Britannia to the pork pie 'cake'; from the Vivienne Westwood shoes (a national treasure in my eyes!) to the red, white a blue throughout were put together to make their theme perfect. The bunting had a union jack vibe, the table plans were quintsentially British themed and the guests were even transported in a open top double decker routemaster red bus.Read more...

This wicked shoot was put together by Bowman Nichols Event Consulting. They wanted to highlight the beauty of California’s Central Coast and the historic and rustic elegance of the Santa Margarita Ranch, but in a fun and fabulously colourful way. They put together a rustic feeling set up with the table in the field and the almost neon cake/flower table. "We were looking to craft a rustic feel pulling inspiration from the colour palate and style of the Carlisle linen pattern from BBJ Linen. The concept was to accentuate a blend of traditional and non-traditional elements for the bride and groom, while staying with the feel of the venue in its rural tradition" they explained. The couple they chose for the shoot was also very important to them as they wanted a pair that could pull of an alternative, edgy feel. "For the couple, we paired an edgy, big city, tattooed groom Josh, with a beautiful blonde, 1950’s inspired bride Natalie, for a Rock n Roll feel. Natalie wore a vintage inspired, short lace gown by Alfred Angelo and western style cowboy boots. To tie in the theme of color we chose large non-traditional jewellery embellished in turquoise with red and black accents to play up to her rockabilly groom. The bouquet was a beautiful unique arrangement adorned with billy balls, kangaroo paw, and succulents pulling in the bright contrasting colour."Read more...

Jessica & Karl got married in the city of Stockholm, Sweden, in the Södermalm region to be precise, which is apparently one of the coolest urban areas of the country. The wedding had a distinctly blue theme which perfectly reflected the countries nature. "Blue is as Swedish as it gets with it being the dominant colour in the flag" photographers Cole & Jakob told me "and a lot of that has to do with the importance of the ocean to the countries culture. Even the archipelago that Stockholm is built amongst is surrounded by the blue of the sea, and that colour was an underlying theme through the planing of this wedding." Jessica wore a dress by Design by Marja Collection with a beautiful handmade hairpiece by Percy Handmade and a flawless hair net made by Tied and Feathered. Allie & Patrick's engagement was designed around the idea of balance and contrast. They decided to go for two different looks "One, a very warm, vintage-y, backlit and natural look with texture and colors like yellows, browns and whites, and the second, very cool, city street, look with lots of blues, turquoise and blacks! photographer Rhys explained. "The idea and challenge was to shoot both looks similarly in terms of composition, but come out with two very different looking sessions, so that they could be displayed side by side allowing the contrasts to really play off of each other. On a cold November Sunday morning a recent bride and her photographer headed down to a skate park for a bridal shoot complete with skateboarders, boys on bikes and a big dog (eek!) She wore her wedding dress which was by Donatella and two different pairs of shoes (no, not at the same time) which were both from Next. This fabulous Boudoir/Pin up style shoot was set up by British photographer Shaneen Rosewarne Cox. "My Make up artist is fabulous at creating that seductive, lashtastic pin up look" She told me "She also styled the models hair and I loved how the retro bouncy curls turned out. Accessories are all mine and are mostly props from the studio. The STUNNING blue Manolo Blahnik shoes are actually my "something blue" from my own wedding day. All in all it was a really fun day full of bucks fizz, pearls, blue shoes and vogue magazine!! A perfect way to spend a Sunday in my opinion. "Read more...
