May 10, 2019

Sarah loves decorating her and Richard’s house for Christmas, so this drew the first inspiration for the couple’s November wedding day. “We wanted a family friendly, rustic yet glamorous, cosy and romantic winter wedding,” explained Sarah. “I love decorating the house for Christmas with rustic, old fashioned decorations and lots of winter foliage, and wanted to capture that coziness for our wedding. I also love all things vintage, especially 1950s and Rockabilly, and had to give a nod to the styles I love so much.”

James and Bex go to Glastonbury every single year, but as there was no festival in 2018, they decided they would get married on the same weekend and host their own! The day was held at The Pheasantry Brewery, near their home in Nottinghamshire. As well as making their day feel perfect for them, their family and in particular their children ,were a really important part of the day. Between them they have five kids, two each from previous relationships and the youngest, Frank, together. They even painted Frank's buggy with the pyramid stage and portraits of Michael Eavis and Dave Grohl on it!

Chris and Ashley knew they wanted a quirky venue for their wedding but weren’t willing to compromise on food, and the National Railway Museum in York ticked all those boxes. Featuring a fine dining menu, a vintage train carriage and a twinkly light backdrop, it was perfect for what they wanted! In fact with such good decorations already in place at the museum, the couple felt it needed very little in the way of further decor - they had just centrepieces, light up letters and cherry blossom trees to dress the reception area.

Oh, Alexis and Yiorgos. let me count the ways that I completely adore your wedding celebration! Married in September in Barcelona, they had a city hall ceremony followed by a bookstore reception in an industrial area turned artisan market just outside the city. Their wedding planner, Happy Endings Barcelona, did the most incredible job dressing the space with candles, chesterfield sofas, birdcages and flowers, and they pumped out a flog machine during the meal resulting in the most dramatic wedding breakfast ever!

Wild Things Wed

January 7, 2019

The very best thing about running Rock n Roll Bride is the HUGE variety of wedding themes and styles that we see. People often ask me if I ever get bored at looking at or talking about weddings and my answer is always the same - how the hell could I get bored when I see such creativity and variety every day!? Ciara and Rowen's wedding falls firmly into the creativity camp. They took a classic vintage theme and added some David Lynch references, turning what could have been quite a traditional wedding on it's head.

Alex and Danielle’s inspiration for their big day came from something very personal for them - Danielle’s tattoo sleeve! “I wanted our wedding to echo the colours and flowers in my tattoo, and for our guests to be put into a happy, upbeat frame of mind as soon as they walked into the room. I think it was a success - we got so much feedback from our guests that it was one of the most laidback and fun weddings they’d ever attended!” said Danielle.

Gigi and Ale's big day deserves big words: This is one of my favourite weddings I've ever seen, ever, and that includes in every outlet and in every Instagram scroll. In their own words, "The whole day oozed relaxation and the ability for everyone to dismiss the fact that weddings are quite often stuffy and just let loose!" They arrived on a canal boat waving flares, left wearing trainers, and in the middle did a whole lot of incredible celebrating...

Samantha and Mike were married in August and they had a few different priorities. They wanted to ensure that they didn't overspend (they rigidly stuck to their £11,000 budget), and they wanted the day to feel like them. They were hitched at Southwick D-Day Memorial Hall, which isn't a licensed wedding venue (so they did the legal bit a few days before) meaning they had a lot of freedom to do what they wanted on the day itself and it only cost them £750 to hire it for the whole weekend!

Kitsch, Colourful, Mid-Century Wedding Party

October 1, 2018

Robyn and Ash were legally married in Vegas at the Chapel of the Flowers but they wanted to host a big party when they got back to Yorkshire for all their family and friends. The party had a really low key, retro and kitsch vibe, hosted at their local community centre. The flowers came from a local flower market, the cakes were from various supermarkets and the stationery was made by the bride. Instead of a fancy meal they served wood-fired pizza and the night ended with - who else? - an Elvis impersonator!

If you're dreaming of pumpkin spice and snuggly knits then you are going to adore Kristen and Lloyd's wedding. Almost all of their reception decor was thrifted, bought online and/ or put together by the couple themselves. They hand-painted a globe to use as their guest book (LOVE THIS!) and made magnolia leaf place cards as well as gold spray-painted dinosaur toys for some added fun and a nod to the groom's love of Jurassic Park!
