Blancorazon Wedding

August 10, 2023

This is the story of an unconventional elopement and love against all odds. Kseniia and Jeff met on Tinder and lived together in China for two years. When the pandemic hit, they moved to Ukraine. When the war began, they had to flee again and they were lucky to get out in time, heading to Paris. In Kiev train station, Jeff got down on one knee to ask for Kseniia’s hand in marriage. They made it to France and got married.

Les Mariages de Elo

November 23, 2020

Shauna and Joe decided on the historic and beautiful Montmartre for their September 2019 wedding. The day was held at Hotel Particulier, the smallest hotel in Paris which has only five guest rooms. It meant they could take over the entire place with their 30 guests and hold their ceremony in the beautiful courtyard garden. The best part was that the distinctive décor meant they didn't need to add any extra decorations themselves.

Michelle Lynn Weddings

January 6, 2020

As we kick of 2020, I'm not sure I can think of a more perfect feature than this roaring 1920s themed vow renewal! And OMG is she a beauty! We feature quite a few vow renewals, but not often those of LGBTQ couples, so I was super excited to hear all about Kaitlin and Stephanie's love story. The day began life as a styled shoot, but they decided to renew their vows for real. They were married in Paris originally so wanted nods to this throughout too.

Candice & Dave’s Budget-Friendly, Parisian-Themed Wedding

Kat

May 30, 2011

I'm coming over all Français today, with not one but two real wedding features with a French flavour. The first, Candice & Dave's, took place in South Africa but had a distinctive Parisian infusion. Photographer Jacki Bruniquel explained, "They were on a tight budget and really made the best of what they had and made their wedding 'their own'. They had a Parisian theme running through the day as this is where they got engaged, but through in a bit of local flavour too. Friends pulled in to help and Candice made many of the details herself."

Michelle & Deborah’s Romantic Parisian Themed Wedding

Kat

April 1, 2011

Michelle & Deborah's touching ceremony was one of the main reasons I wanted to share their wedding with you all today. Quite apart from all the beautiful and individual details the couple put into their day, the readings and poems that they selected for their ceremony made this wedding really special and signified their relationship perfectly. They chose Shakespears Sonnet 116, a section from the children's book "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard and "I carry your heart with me" by E.E Cummings for their vows. Finally in order to include the fight for equality they read the Massachusetts ruling on marriage. They thought it was so simple and basic and spelled out what marriage meant to them in a perfect way. "FROM GOODRIDGE V DEPT OF HEALTH (Mass. 2003): Marriage is a vital social institution. The exclusive commitment of two individuals to each other nurtures love and mutual support; it brings stability to our society. Without question, civil marriage enhances the “welfare of the community.” It is a “social institution of the highest importance.” Civil marriage is at once a deeply personal commitment to another human being and a highly public celebration of the ideals of mutuality, companionship, intimacy, fidelity, and family… Because it fulfils yearnings for security, safe haven, and connection that express our common humanity, civil marriage is an esteemed institution, and the decision whether and whom to marry is among life’s momentous acts of self-definition….It is undoubtedly for these concrete reasons, as well as for its intimately personal significance, that civil marriage has long been termed a 'civil right'."

Gala & Nubby in Paris

Kat

March 22, 2011

It's not often that I post a non-wedding photo shoot, but when I found out that two of my favourite bloggers Gala Darling & Nubby Twiglet were off to Paris, and that while they were there they were doing a photo shoot with one of my favourite photographers, well I couldn't help but ask them all if I could blog the photos too. (note: technically there are some wedding elements in this...Nubby got married in Vegas last September and the white sequin dress was her wedding dress!) "Gala and I met online after she linked to one of my Parisian Trash the Dress photos shoots that you featured on Rock n Roll Bride. When I heard she and Nubby were coming to Paris, I suggested doing a photo shoot. The shoot was a collaboration between Gala, Nubby and I. My vision for Gala's photos was vintage with vivid colours. She liked the idea and brought the most perfect vintage dresses and hats for the shoot. For Nubby, I visualized a lot of black and white with red. I even brought along a red beret for her to wear for a few shots."
