As city backdrops go, I have to say Hull is killing it. The colours and street art painted on its walls along Humber Street here wake you up and shake you up, and there is a Killers lyric graffitied in hot pink - I am in love. It's perfect for urbanites wanting something edgy and contemporary for their wedding or engagement photos. Colour, culture, and plenty of buzz - it has it all.Read more...

Well, those are two things I never thought I'd be putting together but, as I'm sure you know, when it comes to alternative weddings nothing is off limits! You know what though, 90s grunge and Disney are both totally my jam!Read more...

Emilie and Vincent met when working in Hong Kong. They wanted their wedding to be fun, quirky and a mix of all the things they like. They didn't choose a specific theme but focused on gold pineapples, skulls, star wars and street art and wanted their wedding to blend fun with tradition. The bride found her incredible dip-dyed dress in China when she was there on her hen do!Read more...

Dave and Emma's wedding had a subtle 1950s theme with a hung dollop of their personalities injected for good measure! The bride's high street dress, birdcage veil and fur coat combo definitely harked back to a bygone era and all the colourful DIY décor made the day very 'them'.Read more...

Berlin is probably one of the coolest places I've ever been. There's this crazy juxtaposition of the old, overgrown and almost derelict looking architecture, with a really unique arty and creative vibe. Nearly everything is covered in graffiti or art of some kind. Jamie and Angi's wedding couldn't be more Berlin if it tried. I adore everything about it!Read more...

With just $6500 to spend, Monica & Jason knew they wanted a small wedding. So instead of the going down the traditional route, they flew themselves and their daughter to Maui for an intimate beach wedding. "We didn't have an actual budget in mind", Monica began. "My parents gifted us $5000 to put towards our wedding and we spent a bit ourselves too. In total the wedding was around $6500, which doesn't include our rings. What it did include was everything needed for the wedding plus return airfare from Vancouver BC for three of us, lodging in Maui and car rental. Our thoughts behind what we were going to spend was this: we wanted to have what made us happy within reason."Read more...

I'm seeing a huge shift in a lot of the weddings that I'm being submitted of late. While large and lavish detail-heavy weddings were, and in many cases still are, wedding blog perfection, I am noticing that these days it's the smaller ones that a catching my eye. It seems that lot of my readers are completely swinging the other way and are planning small, intimate and personality-heavy nuptials. I know what it is though - my readers are rebels, just like me! You don't want to do what everyone else is doing - you want your weddings to be different and to be a perfect reflection of your love and your relationship. And that, dear readers, is why I friggin' love each and every one of you! I've known Amy for a while now. She is one third of Ava - a wedding styling company based in Birmingham, and we've actually worked together on many occasions. The biggest collaboration we've done has got to be my Rock n Riot shoot where she even commissioned a graffiti artist to paint me on a giant wall!Read more...

Happy Monday y'all! Now I know it's unconventional, but Monday is totally my favourite day of the week. I'm always up early and excited about what the the week might hold. It's kind of like a fresh start every seven days don't you think? Oh what a nerd I am! Well, even if you're not quite as excited about it being Monday as I am, the Rock n Roll stylings of Jenifer & Chris' epic concert wedding are sure to put a big old cheesy grin on your face - it sure did mine!Read more...

We don't get to see a whole lot of alternative Asian wedding inspiration, so I was thrilled when I received this bridal shoot with an edge from School of Rock graduate Rabbia Ali Shah from the Asian Wedding Ideas blog. "Seeing the same Asian bridal images can start to get a little repetitive", wrote Rabbia, "and the idea of something a little edgier is one that I had been thinking about for a while. Getting people on board wasn't the easiest of task but getting in touch with wedding photographer Priti Shikotra, changed all that. She had similar thoughts about a shoot."Read more...

Can I be biased and express my total and unapologetic love and adoration for my Aussie readers right now? The weddings you guys have been having and sending me are nothing short of amazing! So needless to say I was rather thrilled to see Kate & Chris' wedding in my inbox. Sent over by their gorgeous wedding photographers, husband & wife team Feather and Stone, I just about whooped with joy when I laid eyes on it. There's just something about a simple but classy wedding with a true Rock n Roll soul that makes my heart sing... plus Kate's amazing tattoo gives me some serious envy! "We are ecstatic that Kat would like to feature us", began the bride, "I'm a massive fan of her blog and it was a huge inspiration to our wedding." (awwww!)Read more...
