Åsa & Daniel’s Vintage-Find, Barcelona Shoot

Daniel and Åsa’s Barcelona photo shoot was all about the details, “because to me it’s the little details that make the huge difference and I wanted to show them those little details” Spanish photographer Inés explained. The original theme and idea for this shoot came from Inés herself to show couples that capturing the personal details and portraits beautifully is what’s super important in wedding photography – even if that means dressing up again for a post-wedding shoot – the perfect excuse if you ask me!

The shoot took place at the picturesque Le Cucine Mandarosso in Barcelona, a super charming Italian restaurant in theheart of the city. “The place is full with vintage finds, from a huge candy stand, through a fab fridge to little ruby red martini bottle,” Inés told me. “The tableware is vintage, found in different street markets by the stylist. We tied little bows around the cutlery with ribbon that I kept from some delicious chocolate. But the most special touch on the table are the fantastic cupcakes that Jenny from I love Muffins specially made for our photo shoot and that substitute the classic wedding cake. Vera (the stylist) is completely crazy about them and swears that Jenny’s cupcakes are the very best ones she ever tried.”

The bride wore a vintage skirt that cost just 80€ from a vintage shop in the city that was closing down and a simple and cheap t-shirt customized with leather handmade flowers by Manón, who also handmade the hair piece and the sash. Her shoes were just 25€ from Stradivarius and her jewellery was from Bijoux.

Jesikuh & Chris’ Day of the Dead & Graffiti Trash the Dress

Photographer Michelle met recent bride Jesikuh through a mutual friend. Jesikuh had always wanted to do a trash the dress/bridal shoot as she and her husband Chris didn’t have professional photographs taken at their wedding and – in fact she didn’t even have her own wedding dress! Luckily a good friend was happy to give her their dress to do what she wanted with it for the shoot.

Jesikuh just wanted some amazing pictures of her and husband that really told a story about them as well as showcasing their edgy style.  After discussing locations, the team decided that the Pala de Luz Mission in Pala, CA would be cool as their was an old cemetery there. Both Jesikuh & Chris are big fans of the”Day of the Dead” styling so they brought a mask they had made themselves to pose with.  The shoot concluded with Chris graffiting the dress!

Rotterdam Rock n Roll

I love these guys! Normen & Priya are from Holland and had their engagement shoot in Rotterdam with Tapas Maiti. This is just pure Rock n Roll and the couple have got a GREAT story. “I met Priya at the Asian Wedding Exhibition last November” Tapas told me. “It was an hour to go before closing and I was about pack up when she came to my stall and we got chatting. Priya & Norman are from Holland, her mother was a Hindu who arrived in Holland via Surinam whilst her father is a Sikh from the Punjab. Many Indian Hindu’s have settled in Holland by way of Surinam through the Dutch Indian Empire, its a fascinating story and shows the complexity of the Indian diaspora.”

We ♥ Miami

Amanda & Marcel’s Florida engagement session was a gift from their friend Mireya at Axiom Photo Studio. “From the moment Marcel and I got engaged, Mireya called us up and said…’I have a vision’ ” Amanda told me. “She told us where and when to meet and she would take care of the rest. I decided to hit up a few Goodwill stores the night before and ended up getting my entire wardrobe for under $20. She knew she wanted to capture “us” and “Miami” and she really did. She took us to some kick-ass graffiti walls in Wynwood and then we traveled back to Little Havana for some cafecito. The whole shoot took about four hours and we all had a blast (including our 2 chihuahuas).”

Primrose Hill Pretty

Olivia & Mark’s pretty and quirky London engagement session makes my heart sing! The pair actually said that they found the Primrose Hill location (where they live) a little twee so their photographer Lisa made a real effort to find some none puke-worthy spots including a cool graffiti wall ( “I was a bit ‘been-there-done-that’ until I saw it, if graffiti could ever be vintage, this might be it.  Mostly heart themed with a chalky quality, I LIKE!” Lisa explained) a Banksy mural, the front door of Gwen (Stefani) & Gavin and Jamie (Oliver) & Jules’ houses (shh!) the canal and the top of the hill.
