Rock n Roll Tea Party Meets Music Inspired Winter Wedding

Kelly and Charlie met after exchanging insults (!) at an Indie/Rock night in Soho, so it made perfect sense that music was a big part of their wedding theme.

Married at Rock n Roll Bride fave, The Asylum Chapel in Peckham in January 2018, it was important to the couple that their day was relaxed and informal. “We didn’t want it to feel like a ‘wedding’”, explained Kelly. “It might sound silly but we just wanted a big party with our closest family and friends”.

To do this they eschewed wedding traditions that didn’t feel right to them – including cutting the cake, having a sit-down meal and traditional wedding favours – instead they continued the music theme with a big stack of records by the seating plan for their guests to help themselves to!

Forest Elopement with a Pregnant Bride!

What struck us most about the beauty of this styled shoot is just how rare it is to see pregnant brides featured in mainstream bridal media – for the most part we’re still being served these virginal images of slim brides dressed in white, and obviously, at Rock n Roll Bride, we ain’t down with that.

Planned or unplanned, finding out you’re going to be pregnant on your wedding day – albeit super exciting! – can also add a whole new level of stresses and emotions to the proceedings, which can only be exasperated when you’re searching for inspiration and finding zilch that’ll fit your circumstances. What will my dress fit like? Should I try to make myself look ‘less pregnant’? do I have to act differently?!

Glamorous Boho Las Vegas Elopement… with a Rock n Roll Flare!

Alex and Tamara actually met in high school, and although it took several years for their relationship to blossom (despite Alex’ regular attempts to take Tamara on a date!) once they finally reconnected they were inseparable, and soon found themselves creating a life together.

The laid back couple hadn’t actually planned to get married, instead they had just booked a fun getaway to Vegas – in fact Tamara actually thought that marriage was never on the cards for them. “I always thought if two people love each other why do they need to be legally bound to one another?” said Tamara. But after three years of living together, two pit bulls and two children later, they thought it would be the perfect way to complete their family unit. They always knew they wanted a stress-free, easy-going wedding so a Las Vegas elopement was perfect for them – carefree and super fun, just like them.

Playful Adventure Themed Wedding… with a Husky Ring Bearer!

Chris and Luana met completely through happenstance: Chris was on his way home from a pool party with friends, when they decided to stop for food. Luana happened to be working the counter that fateful evening, and the rest, they say, is history. They had their rehearsal dinner at the very same restaurant nearly 10 years later.

After Chris proposed at their annual trip to Coachella, the couple married at the Los Angeles River Centre and Gardens in an outdoor ceremony, with a reception at the same venue after.

The couple knew from the start that their rescue pup, Roky, would be involved in the ceremony, and he made the most of his moment in the spotlight by barking at the priest during their blessing! “Everyone else was quiet so he thought it was his turn to speak up and give us his own blessing” laughed Luana. “It was one of my favourite moments of the whole day”.

Succulent-Filled South of France Themed Wedding… with a Rice Krispie Wedding Cake!

Although they’d gone to the same school and have family members who’ve known each other since they were tiny, Kirsten and Jack’s paths didn’t cross until a Christmas Eve pub visit in 2013. They had their first date that same Boxing Day and have been together ever since! As it has a way of doing, life tried to throw a spanner in the works when a month into their relationship, Jack was offered a job in Nice. They did long distance for a year and then Kirsten followed her heart and moved to France to be with Jack. It’s there, after three years, that they got engaged, so it made sense for the South of France to feature heavily in their Glaswegian wedding!

Kirsten, with a background in theatre and events design, took great delight in designing the look of the wedding and let her creativity go wild. Inspired by the tropical flowers and foliage of Nice, palm trees, birds of paradise and succulents featured heavily throughout.

They collected pebbles from the beach (and ferried them home in their suitcases for 18 months before the wedding!) to use along the aisle and as place settings. Their guests also enjoyed chocolate pebbles as favours, and each went home with a cactus, palm tree or leaf enamel pin as a memento from the day, which Kirsten loved seeing everyone wear in the evening.

The Big Lebowski Inspired Wedding Powered By Nature… and Tacos!

Kelly and Buck were married in September in an outdoor ceremony at Riveredge Nature Centre in Wisconsin, with a barn reception at the same venue.

Kelly, a print maker and paper artist extraordinaire, met Buck through her best friend Molly. They soon discovered a shared love for drawing, and Kelly, who works as an Admissions Counsellor for a Milwaukee art college, encouraged Buck to pursue his passion for drawing professionally. Buck picked up an apprenticeship and now works as a tattoo artist.

Heavily inspired by creativity and nature for their decor choices on the day, Kelly, together with best friend Molly created all the paper florals by hand; the reception decor, the bouquets and the flower crowns from crepe paper. Place names and table numbers were displayed with handwritten delicate paper leaves. The couple also included deer in their decor, with antlers on the top table and adorable an golden deer cake topper too.
