They were inspired mostly by modern industrial and moody botanical styles. They also knew they wanted to get married in New York City, where they met and have lived for some time.

Sandra and Hendrik were together for 12 years before they were married. They met in August 2004 at a funfair and distinctly remember the smell of popcorn filling the air. They wanted to recreate their first meeting at their wedding, so decided it should be funfair themed. They also wanted their wedding day to be a celebration with their loved ones while listening to great music and, of course, with the smell of popcorn in the air again.

Allison and Brad described their wedding theme as 'eclectic, vintage and fun' with a focus on DIY. Most of their wedding elements were crafted, borrowed, gifted, or thrifted, which added to the vintage feel. They originally chose hot pink for their colour scheme (Brad’s favourite colour), but then decided to have ALL the pinks, plus neutrals, navy blues and midnight blues.

Instead they were inspired by vintage pieces (the bride wore a dress from the 1940s), and Victoriana with a Rock n Roll twist. Of course there were a few autumnal touches such as pumpkins on the tables, but overall it was just a reflection of everything they love.
