Hannah and Paul's laid back wedding took place in October. "The inspiration for the wedding was for it to be laid back and natural," explained the bride. "We wanted a relaxed day with no stresses and as few formalities as possible. We just wanted to enjoy the day with our friends and family and to not feel that we were forced to do certain things at certain times of the day. I also wanted natural décor with hessian, lace and flowers."Read more...

People always ask me what makes an 'alternative wedding'. I think a lot of them assume that the label must only apply to the most 'out-there', wacky and crazy weddings and that it's all jumping out of planes or all-out goth themed days. While, of course, I adore featuring those types of weddings, I also really love sharing the ones that just have a few personal, quirky touches. Just like Corbyn & Lucas'.Read more...

Natalie and Aaron wanted a small wedding, that was just for them. They were married at Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne with just nine guests. "The inspiration for our wedding was to have a low key, romantic elopement with beautiful spring flowers all around us", the bride said. "We had originally planned a wedding for around 80 guests which was meant to happen next July, but after I became very anxious and stressed we decided to drop that in favour of our little ceremony. By doing a small ceremony we saved thousands of dollars too."Read more...

Claire and Chris were married in June at The Dome in Worthing. The inspiration for the wedding was to have a small, intimate day with their closest friends and family. "We wanted to feel surrounded by love from those dearest to us", said the bride. "We had 31 guests and found this to be the perfect number. We had plenty of time to speak, hug, laugh, cry and dance with all of them."Read more...

British-born Aisling and Australian Jeremiah met in Vancouver. Although they now live in Australia, they wanted to go back to where they first met to be married. "Our wedding theme was 'Two Worlds Collided', began the bride. "The INXS song of the same name was how it all began it was our song from the day we met. It suits us because our personalities and tastes are very different. We are from two different countries. We had two different wedding locations and I ended up with two wedding outfits."Read more...

Tara and Aaron had a woodland wedding in Canada. They wanted their day to feel natural, organic and to be as enjoyable for their guests as possible. "The theme for the day was really brought to life when I chose my wedding dress", Tara said. "It was dip-dyed so that it had a very subtle purple ombre. That was the moment that our colour palette was chosen. We used lavender, grey, white and green. We wanted everything to look very natural since we were in the woods."Read more...

Emily and Glenn were married at the bride's childhood home. She wore her grandmother's wedding dress and they wanted to make sure everything they did minimised waste. "Our wedding inspiration was to use second-hand, borrowed, vintage and thrift store finds", Emily explained, "We really focused on re-purposing things for the day. This meant incorporating vintage furniture as seating and using items my father had collected over the last 30 years as décor. Everything was DIY but since we did not want to buy anything new we stayed away from crafting and mostly decorated with old lanterns and vintage furniture. We also borrowed a lot of stuff from friends and family so that we didn't have to buy brand new things."Read more...

Who says only the bride can wear white? I think this all-white bridal party proves that isn't the case! Don't they all look FANTASTIC!? The bridesmaids in the same colour as the bride wasn't the only unique thing about Harriet and Jesse's wedding though. They styled the day in a way that truly reflected them which meant pineapples, flamingos and fireworks! They day was also held at a friend's house on the Scottish borders.Read more...
