Kirsty met Oz when she went to work in his tattoo studio. "We're both tattoo artists and after several months of working together it became apparent that we were meant to be together", she told me. "Two years in, Oz popped the question. We spoke about our big day regularly, and we saved and saved like mad. After 12 months we decided to bite the bullet and book a date and venue. We continued to save and had some generous donations from loved ones to help us on our way."

Patty and Dani were married on their 13th anniversary at Château de la Grande Riedera in Switzerland. "The Inspiration for our wedding was to spend a relaxed day with our family and friends, where everyone would feel comfortable", Patty began. "The original plan was a quiet BBQ somewhere close to a lake, but that seemed to be a very difficult task. Somehow the venue, budget and date never fit together. As that didn't work out, we looked for something different and found the Chateau de la Grande Riedera, which was perfect. We loved that all parts of the wedding could take place at the same location, which made it a very relaxed atmosphere. It also allowed us to organise the caterer we wanted to have which brought us back at least parts of the BBQ idea."

A true DIY wedding, Claire-Josephine, Nick and their families made a lot of the details for their big day themselves. The stationery was made by the bride's aunt and the groom, and the favours by the mother of the groom. The cake was made by a member of the church choir and the bride helped design her own dress and headpiece which were made for her by her friend Keli Thompson, who has just launched her own wedding couture company.

Carrie and Neil had a red and white wedding with rockabilly and polka dot touches! The day was held at Highbury Hall in Birmingham and was full of DIY décor. "We would like to think we were far more relaxed, friendly and laid-back than other wedding we have been to", began the bride. "So many weddings we have been to seem so stiff and uptight as a whole. We wanted a fun party atmosphere with a live band playing lots rockabilly, plenty of food for people to stuff their faces, and encouraged dancing until your feet dropped off. The word 'formal' never entered our vocabulary."

"This shoot came about from my vastly growing obsession with polka dots, in all their multicoloured forms", wrote button bouquet creator Emma, who masterminded the whole thing. "Actually, not just mine, but also many of my brides who often want a bit of dottiness in their bouquets! I wanted to create a look that would appeal to and inspire my clients so I set about this little collaboration with some wonderfully talented wedding peeps."

This laid back couple met online and spent their first dates huddled on Laura's sofa, watching movies and eating food that she'd cooked. So needless to say when it came to their wedding they wanted to keep it as low key as possible too. "We have always been such an easy couple, lots of love and not much hassle of going overboard with things", Laura explained. "His proposal a year after we met was perfect. We were in the mall and he pulled me into a photo booth and he proposed while the photos were being taken inside. It was perfect!"

Australian John & Marnie spent six weeks travelling around the US for their honeymoon after their wedding in Las Vegas. They were in town for the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival and they loved the idea of getting married there. The ceremony was held at Little Church of the West, a quaint little 'mini church' looking chapel, right at the south end of the strip and the after party was at Level 107 Cocktail lounge in the Stratosphere hotel - right at the north end!

Welcome to Elodie & Alexis' gorgeous French wedding. If you loved their engagement shoot this morning, then their nuptials are gonna blow your socks off! The wedding ceremony was held in the bride's parent's back garden which they decorated themselves. Alexis picked all the flowers and pulled together a bouquet of wheat for Elodie to carry down the aisle. As I said in this morning's post, the couple are both deaf and found their film-loving deaf photographer Ashton Jean-Pierre at World Deaf Art Festival in Reims, near Paris, last Summer.

This is unadulterated Rock n Roll Bride gold and I'm thrilled to share it with you today. The couple, who met in San Francisco while Melanie was there on holiday, were married at the end of January at Old Marylebone Town Hall, London. "We met whilst out dancing at a rockabilly club called the Jay n Bee, and whilst there was instant attraction, I was only on a two week holiday so nothing really happened," Melanie told me. "However, I returned to the USA a few months later for Las Vegas and a three month stay in San Francisco, and that's when we started dating. We continued travelling between San Francisco and London, and got engaged on our 8 month anniversary (which was also Christmas Eve) whilst out dancing at the Southbank Centre in London. We had originally planned to get married in SF, but one sunny day last October, we were laying in the garden here in London, and I said to Aaron 'We should get married in London...in January!' and so we planned our wedding in just over three and a half months!"

I even modeled in an 'Over the Rainbow' themed shoot last October. So you can imagine my glee when Jennifer & Jon's wedding landed on my desk. The couple wanted a huge party, and with 200 guests and only a $10,000 budget they were determined to not spent a fortune to do so. "We honestly would never have been able to pull of any wedding without our friends and family," Jennifer told me. "It was truly a DIY wedding with everyone helping out days beforehand by shoveling, raking and baking in the hot sun to make my friend's ranch into a kick ass outdoor wedding venue. I love weddings like Claire & Lee's. Not just because the rockabilly theme is awesome, but because they put their heart and soul(s) into creating a wedding that reflects how they are in everyday life. "We’re both very much in to the whole rockabilly and psychobilly scenes and have been for quite some time, so it only seemed natural to extend this to our wedding day," Claire told me. "One thing we set out to do from the very beginning was to make our wedding day for us. It seems all too often that people try and tailor their wedding day around their family and other guests, where as for ourselves we tailored it around us and guests had to fit in; which they did wonderfully."

A photo shoot featuring the Rock n Roll Bride planning notebooks!? Oh yes that's one sure-fired way to get my attention! "We styled the whole shoot ourselves using items from eBay (and of course the Rock n Roll Bride notebook," photographer Jaye of Tux & Tales Photography told me. "We decided we would do a few styled shoots ourselves on a shoestring budget. I think it is a great way to show brides that they can have a fun and fab style with a little pocket change and a lot of elbow grease. I hope you enjoy my ultra-rad millinery. Picture me sitting on the living room floor, feathers flying everywhere whilst my cat tries to run off with the hat in his mouth every time I turn around to get another feather. The bouquet I made myself out of crepe paper. Boo (our model) is a burlesque performer so she did her own hair & make up!"

"We are punk rockers at heart, but listen to a wide variety of music in the rock genre. We thought it would be very difficult to do a punk rock wedding and still keep it somewhat formal. (Rich's family is Catholic and I am not religious in any way. We didn't want to horrify his grandmother!)"
