Laidback Tuscan Villa Wedding via China, Australia & Poland

Kornelia and Gareth’s gorgeous Tuscan festival wedding is proof that the enormity of wedding planning is really worth it, as they were bringing friends and family from literally all over the world (they now reside in Shanghai, China, but met in London, and Kornelia is originally from Poland via Australia!) Their week-long “Charlo-palooza” – “a day is definitely not enough time!” – was essentially a holiday for all of the people they love, and they really got involved in all the small details to make it perfect. And they looked sensational whilst doing it – Kornelia’s Zac Posen-esque dress is the stuff of dreams.

Their week-long festival wedding was held at Villa Ulignano in Tuscany. “They have thought of pretty much everything – as well as having some EPIC bedrooms, the villa had so many facilities for guests (pool, two saunas, underground cinema, table tennis, billiards and even casino games tables),” Kornelia explains. “We put on a few events during the week so people could really get to know each other, like a pizza night by the pool. We sourced some cheap gingham fabric and made basic cushion covers to put over IKEA cushions, alongside gingham picnic rugs. The day after the wedding (when everyone was feeling slightly fragile), my parents hosted a Polish night which consisted of lots of Polish food, including pierogi and of course VODKA!”

Sumptuous Venetian Vow Renewals With a Stunning Red Dress

We love to celebrate love on Rock n Roll Bride, which is why it’s so nice to see alternative vow renewals as well as original ceremonies on here too. Jenny and Alan’s is no different – on the 30th December 2016, they took to Venice with their four children to renew their vows (made on New Year’s Eve 1991!) and looked every inch the gorgeous pair. Their inspiration was “25 years of marriage, four fabulous children, amazing city celebrations, and setting the tone for our future…”

“Our four sons flew into Venice on the morning, so we had not seen them before the ceremony. We had to trust they had arrived and been whisked from the airport on time!” Jenny remembers.  “As everyone else disappeared we walked slowly up the stairs of Ca Segrado, which they’d lined with candles. The sound of Italian opera could be heard as we got to the doors of the reception room which was flooded with sunshine and we couldn’t see the boys. Then I caught sight of the peak of my youngest son’s hat (he has a Peaky Blinders look going on!) Both Alan and I were really overcome at that point with emotion and we said it felt like we were getting married for the first time. We hugged the children in turn and then sat on our chairs at the front.”

Victorian Gothic, Steampunk, Game of Thrones & Medieval

Valeria (the bride) and Nicola’s (the groom) Victorian gothic wedding was held at the impressive Villa il Poggione in Fauglia, Italy. The venue was decked out in medieval regalia which suited their theme perfectly.

“I would call our theme Victorian Gothic with a pinch of Steampunk, Game of Thrones and a medieval atmosphere”, began Valeria. “After we bought our clothing, we decided to turn the wedding into a themed one! We thought that it could be original and funny for everybody. We chose the Victorian Gothic simply because it was the style of our clothing and we love the style of this period. Fortunately, we have fantastic relatives and friends, so almost all the guests accepted the challenge. It’s very cool to see our wedding pictures with people in themed clothing. We didn’t expect this great participation, so we were pleasantly surprised!”

Their ceremony was held at the end of a dramatic red carpet, in the courtyard of the villa. “We were legally married the day before with just a couple of witnesses”, she explained. “So we decided to make our villa ceremony into OUR ceremony. We chose the red carpet instead of the classic white one in order to give a gothic touch. We wanted a simple, brief, romantic and original ceremony, so we decided to use some quotes from Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings between the classic script. The wedding march was played by Brian May and Queen because I had always dreamed of walking down the aisle with a song played by a rock guitar. Even the end of the ceremony exit was accompanied by a revisiting of the classic wedding theme in a power metal style.”

Addams Family Inspired Elopement in Italy

Diana and Jason had already booked a month long holiday to Europe together, when a friend suggested the idea of eloping. Straight away they knew it was perfect for them! Neither of them wanted a huge middle-eastern wedding (which is the tradition in Diana’s family) so their month long holiday turned into a pre and post wedding honeymoon!

Their wedding theme was Victorian chic, with gothic accents, particuarly in Diana’s amazing black dress. “We were inspired by our love for Morticia and Gomez Addams,” explained Diana, “Their love is fierce, passionate, and eccentric. They are the ultimate couple.”

Their ceremony was held in Scaglieri Castle on Lake Garda. “We arrived in a BMW to the cobble streets of Malcesine. We walked up to the castle where many locals and tourists began clapping, taking photos and kindly congratulating us. It was quite fun as we felt like celebrities! The ceremony was located on the terrace of the castle, overlooking beautiful lake. We reached the castle steps, and waited for our aisle song to begin. In Australia, the bride walks down the aisle to reach her fiancĂ©, but in Italy, we both walked down the aisle together. It was a lovely moment as we felt it represented walking into our new journey through life together.”

Family-Focused Carnival Wedding in Venice

Elisa and Stefano wanted their wedding to be a party with old-style animated games for both adults and children. They were inspired by the idea of a village carnival with lights, flags and a band playing popular music.

However in the run up to the wedding their expectant child, Biagio, was born prematurely causing them to have to delay their day. “The worst thing about planning our wedding was the rescheduling of it due to the early birth of our child Biagio,” explained Elisa. “However, after we knew he was going to be OK wedding planning became so much fun and full of happiness in contrast to the months spent suffering for fear of losing our son.”

Sixties Psychedelia Meets Lana Del Rey Meets American Gothic

Giulia and Fabio were married in Cesena, northern Italy. The day was inspired by the bride’s love of Lana Del Rey and all things retro, and the groom’s appreciation for American Gothic aesthetics.

“We were inspired by the 1960s psychedelic world, Brian De Palma’s Carrie (without the blood bucket!), Sofia Coppola’s Virgin Suicides, Johnny Cash, King Dude and two iconic couples of the 1960s: Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra and Elvis and Priscilla Presley”, said Giulia. “We wanted to mix the Cowboy Psychedelia mood with a warehouse venue. We found Ca’Bevilaqua, a B&B in Santa Maria Nuova and it’s beautiful restored warehouse full of plants, tapestry and old paraphernalia.”
