If you’ve just got engaged, then you might be thinking about doing an engagement shoot with your photographer. They are a fantastic way to get to know the person who will be there on your wedding day, but also to practice in front of the camera and get some fabulous images to boot! (You can read more of my advice for getting great engagement pictures here).
While many couples opt to keep things casual and fuss-free, maybe shooting around their own neighbourhood and wearing comfortable clothes, others like Federica and Stefano choose to go all out! The Italian pair dressed up and went to a fun fair for their pre-wedding shoot.
“The idea behind the shoot was that love is fun!”, said photographer
Simona. “Everything is illuminated when we are in love, things dance around like a carousel and life has the delicious taste of cotton candy! We wanted to reflect that in these photos.”
“They originally wanted to shoot at a circus, but instead we found an amusement park near the beach in Civitanova Marche. Federica and Stefano wanted photos that would celebrate their love and their eccentric personalities. We wanted pictures full of lights and colours and to create a dreamy and shiny mood.”
“The final shot was all of our favourites. The Flying Kiss, a carousel for lovers, was the perfect location to concluded this love-filled shoot.”

What a Small World…

I love a shoot with a great story behind it...especially when it revolves around people I know! When bride-to-be Laura checked in on Rock n Roll Bride a few months ago she fell in love with the work of UK photographer, David McNeil. She promptly contacted him to arrange an engagement shoot in Brighton. Her fiance Nick and her turned up on the morning of the shoot, only to discover that unbeknownst to both of the boys, they already knew each other! David and Nick actually used to work together long before David tried his hand at wedding photography and Nick got engaged...but wait the tale gets stranger because when David sent me these images it turns out I used to work with Nick too! What a small world...
Sugar & Spice

Well people, hold on to your hats and prepare yourself for another bumper day of Rock n Roll goodness. Did something magical happen overnight or something? I have received a ridiculous number of amazing photo sessions and weddings this morning - I just hope I can bring them all to you soon!
Starting off today is this gorgeous 'sugar and spice' rockabilly couple. She's a ballerina, he's a total petrol head (I think in America you call them 'gear heads'? - whatever, he is nuts about cars!) Cassy & Kelly headed to pier 39 in San Francisco with photographer Marin Kristine to get these amazing carousel/carnival/fun fair shots. The couple will be having a pin up style wedding in just 2 weeks and boy am I excited to see the results!
Thanks to the lovely Marin for sending these over.

Does this post need words? I'm pretty sure the images will speak for themselves in fact. Boy, does Matt Miller rule or what?! Amber & Mike are just too hot too trot...I approve.
All the Fun of the Fair

Amy & Darren are a gorgeous, fun and music-loving couple who are getting married this June in the New Forest. The idea for their engagement shoot was just to follow them having fun and sharing the things they love. "We started the shoot at their place in Blackheath, London" photographer Sarah told me "with me shooting from the mezzanine down on them lying amongst a fraction of their 5000-strong record collection, even Martha the cat wanted a piece of the action!"
"Next, we took a trip up the road to take advantage of the gorgeous evening light at the May bank holiday fair on Blackheath, finishing with a stroll through Greenwich Park to the bandstand which holds a romantic significance to them as a couple as it's where they spent a lot of time together when they first started courting."

I saw a feathery sneak peak of Mary & Stephan's engagement session on their wedding coordinator's website and immediately shot and email to Erin & Court asking if I could blog them when they were all ready. Lucky for me they were of course delighted and I got the email this morning to tell me they were up.
I knew they were going to be good because of the hilarious and fun 'pillow fight' scene, yet I wasn't expecting the rest - the balloons, the guitar playing, the balloons, the fun fair..eeek. These are just perfect!
A massive, huge and ginormous thank you to Erin & Court for letting me be the one to share these simple beautiful images!

Hayley & Brett's funfair/carnival themed love shoot makes me feel all playful. Gotta love a couple who can have a blast together! Together for a little over 2 years, this pair found comfort in each other through some difficult times at the beginning of their relationship. They decided to do their pre-wedding shoot at a carnival to symbolize their fun personalities and has a celebration of their love for one another. Her dress is vintage which she found at a thrift store and their flowers were done by Mignonne Handmade.
Rock On – The Engagements

I was forwarded Danielle & Jerry's wedding by the lovely Amanda of Vintage Glam. I saw it and I loved it. I also discovered their rocking engagement session so I had to feature these first. Danielle's cute little hair bow, their awesome tattoos (do I sound like a broken record sometimes?) and the almost spooky fun fair location - I love it all.
Stand by for the wedding, complete with a Groomsman with a mohawk and a Bride in a black wedding dress.
Coolest Engagement Shoot to Date – FACT: Ainsley & Sebastien
September 18, 2013
I'm pretty sure there is no couple in the world that could possibly come close to being as awesome as Ainsley and Sebastien. This is one of those engagement shoots that as soon as I saw it I was dying to see the wedding already, wondering what they could possibly do to top these photos.
