Colourful Yet Casual King’s Road Celebration

Mike and Markus wanted an easy-going wedding. To them, that meant shunning a lot of tradition and having only friends there, no relatives at all. They chose Chelsea as their location as Markus’ parents got married there and because it’s one of the favourite neighbourhoods in London.

“It sounds like a cliché, but honestly I would say that all the people that came together on our day made our wedding what it was, “Mike explained. “Many of our guests had never met each other before or even spoke the same language (since they came from many different countries just to be with us). There was only 40 guests but 14 different languages all together and they all came from eight different countries! As we are an international couple, I would say that our wedding was an urban modern multicultural event and a reflection of the current society that we live in.”

A Colourful Scottish Wedding with American Influences

The one thing that Mischa and Phil wished they knew about planning their wedding before they began was how “It’s basically like having a second job, where you work 40 hours a week and pay your employer lots of money for the privilege!” Their hard work paid off though! They wanted a day that expressed who they are and they shunned anything overly formal to have a relaxed, fun party for everyone and, as their photos show, they achieved just that.

With a £20,000 budget, Mischa and Phil focused their budget on two main areas – their venue, and their outfits. “The venue covered, food and drink and location,” explained Mischa, “so it realistically is probably great value for money in terms of what you get. But our outfits were easily the single most expensive spend. It’s insane to think that you will literally spend thousands of dollars on something that you wear one day. However, I do not regret how much we spent on them as I think it paid off.

Colourful Theatre Themed Wedding with llamas, Alpacas & a Pug

Bringing their musical love of musical theatre and colour into the day, Kayley and John were married at Deepdale Farm over the summer. They also had a number of very special guests, namely their pug, Frank, and a llama and alpaca who joined them for photos! All the decorations were designed and made by the couple themselves. Their particular favourites being the banners with musical quotes on.

“We bought a big roll of fabric, cut out each banner and acrylic painted the quotes”, Kayley explained. “We’ve got one up in our living room now to remember the day. We also created ‘theatre programmes’ for everyone who came to the ceremony which had ‘cast’ photos in (our families and wedding party), our story, a series of photos we had done at Sunderland Empire Theatre, and a collage of all the shows we have seen together. They also had a little bit explaining about the favours we had. We donated to the Mind charity to get sunflower seeds for our favours as mental health is a big part of our life and something we care a lot about.”

Colourful, Homely, Backyard Wedding

Nadine and Evy met each other five years ago and during a collaboration at work, a spark lit between them. At first they didn’t know what happened and what to do with these feelings for each other, as both of them never had feelings for another woman before. It was a delicate situation, but they said yes to the butterflies and they just went for it.

For their wedding day, they wanted for their guests to feel at home, welcome and relaxed. The held it in their own backyard – their ‘safe haven’ – in May 2019, and spent €6000 to make their daydreams a reality. They started collecting things, like trinkets and ornaments, a year in advance which not only helped spread the cost, but they really enjoyed keeping an eye out with their big day in mind. They filled the day with things they loved – from the rainbow confetti and pompoms their guests showered them with after they said their “I Dos”, to the kids’ face painting booth during the reception – every decision they made had to represent either of them in some way!

Super Mario Meets Metal Themed Israeli Wedding

Galit and Amir’s October wedding combined colourful, playful elements from the video game world’s happiest offering – Super Mario! Both Galit and Amir work in software testing and they love video games. The first flower Amir gave Galit was the fire flower doll from the game, so their wedding theme was set!

Lucky enough to have a talented planner and designer friend, the coupled briefed her to create a day that felt fun but not childish, taking inspiration from a game that celebrates colour, happiness and fun and translating it into a wedding design! Together with her staff, Vicka made the centrepieces, the designs for the wedding invites and Mario-themed photo props. They custom built props from PVC pipes, and customised carnations for Galit’s bouquet.

Till Death Do Us Party: A Colourful Scottish Halloween Wedding

Both Jade and Jamie are big fans of Halloween so knew they wanted to get married at this time of year and base the theme on that. Their initial concern was that they didn’t want anything looking too tacky and more like a Halloween party, so they focused on a mix of neon, tartan, sequins, skulls and brightly coloured pumpkins for a fresh take on theme.

They used Pinterest, Instagram and of course, Rock n Roll Bride as massive sources of inspiration. The phrase ‘Till Death’ stuck with them from the beginning, with Jamie even DIY’ing a massive neon sign as well as using it in their vows and then getting it tattooed on their arms shortly after the wedding!
