Stratton Court Barn in Oxfordshire was the perfect venue for Sofi and Scott’s colourful, relaxed wedding, not least of all because it had a beautiful woodland area where they could have their ceremony. Their June celebration was a blend of bright summer vibes and laid-back festival feels.

“We both love live music and festivals, as well as being outdoors and going away in our campervan”, the bride told us. “We took these things and used them as inspiration, wanting to create a day that felt fun and very much outdoors with that chilled summer evening festival feel.”

The day was painted in the couple’s unique palette, featuring stunning floral arrangements and the bride choosing an orange dye dyed dress and veil from Lucy Can’t Dance. “The real standout element for us was the flowers,” Sofi beamed. “They brought such a bright and joyful atmosphere to the day. Everyone complimented us on how amazing they looked! The amount of colour we incorporated into the day was definitely an intentional choice and something we didn’t see in a lot of other wedding.”

Their ceremony, set against the backdrop of a wooden gazebo and an aisle flanked by trees and dried pampas grass, was a highlight and featured a mix of their favourite pop-punk and rock tunes. Before the ceremony they had music like Satellites by Enter Shikari, Still into You by Paramore and Girl All The Bad Guys Want by Bowling for Soup playing. Sofi walked down the aisle to Just Like Heaven by the Cure and during the ceremony they had a cover of Bowie’s Heroes sung by Rou Reynolds from Enter Shikari, Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac and This Modern Love by Bloc Party.

As a web designer, Scott used his skills to design the stationery, signage and their wedding website. Together they also made their favours – miniature bottles with their favourite spirits in – with custom labels designed by the groom.

At the reception there was lawn games like Jenga and a cornhole which was surprising big hit and got quite competitive between some of Scott’s family! Once the evening was underway, they had a fire pit in the courtyard with marshmallows for toasting. They also had a Vintage Camper Booths photo booth, and served woodfired pizza which went down a treat!

“Watching our friends and family enjoying themselves, we knew we had created the wedding we always dreamed of,” the bride concluded. “It was amazing to see all our ideas and planning come together so perfectly. Don’t stress too much about trying to be ‘different’ or if whether what you want is on-trend. Chances are if you can think of it, someone on Pinterest has done it before. Just choose things that feel authentic to you and that you will actually bring you joy on your special day.”
