Wow wow wow. Kelly & Sean sure knew how to rock a wedding! From an emotional ceremony, to a family-orientated reception to a crazy-fun party, the whole day looks like an utter blast! "The one thing that we dislike about weddings is how they are all alike" they told me. "We understand its tradition and that's how its supposed to be done, but why? why is there a set pattern? We wanted our wedding to be personal to us. We wanted to start our own traditions and do things unique to our style. The theme of our wedding was basically "Things We Love" and it ended up being the perfect reflection of us. We did whatever we wanted and nixed things we disliked. we strived to make it intimate and personal. Our wedding was hands down the best day of our lives, we had everything we loved, surrounded by everyone we love and made sure to marry the heck outta the one we loved!"

I love Bryan & Claira's adorable rustic, homespun wedding. It was held at Hill Country Village, which is right out in the middle of the country that surrounds Shreveport, LA. "It has an old grocery store, a couple old farm houses and this big brick venue where we held our reception. The wedding itself was outside amongst all of these fun old buildings" Claira told me.

Last Tuesday, the city of Bristol paid host to a huge gaggle of budding photographers, models and industry professionals. The photography blog, The Photography Parlour, spearheaded by Rosie Parsons, organised a 'shoot-out' affectionately nicknamed G2G (Get Together) where everybody who's anybody headed down for a day of shooting in the sun. I was GUTTED that I couldn't make it (I was asked if I could come along and model but unfortunately my tattoo was still scabby and not to nice at this point!) but after seeing the results coming through I can not wait to attend the next one!

OK, so I'm so bloomin' impatient. My sleeve tattoo technically isn't finished yet (I've got another 4 hours or so to go in 4 weeks time - I'm adding some more colour to the background and some more cupcakes and diamonds - yum) but I've waited 2 weeks already to share these pictures and I can't do it anymore! At my last session at the amazing Blood Brothers Tattoo Studios in Holloway Rd, London, photographer Al Overdrive offered to pop down and take a few photographs of me in pain/being brave/getting inked. Al won Tattoo Photographer of the Year this year and is pretty well known in the music and tattoo photography market, shooting for magazine like Skin Deep, Tattoo Master, Rock Sound and Terrorizer as well as shooting some pretty damn cool alternative weddings.

Well fear not my darlings, I have the answer! I made a new friend a few weeks ago. Andrew Shanahan runs a UK wedding blog aimed at your men called Staggered. Genius. Why did no one think of this before? I wanted to invite Andrew to write a little sommat sommat for you and your boys. "I thought you might like Sophie & Jonny's engagement shoot" Marianne Taylor wrote, "as there is pinkness and tattoos involved." Well looks like she was right! Oh yes I do like. The shoot took place in Green Park and Marylebone, London. The couple are getting married in September in a 1950's, burlesque and black & white bash and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love that too. I can't wait to feature it already!

Erinn & Brandon's Nashville wedding was an elegant and modern affair with a touch of rockabilly and country charm. The couple chose Aerial as the location for their wedding. They had their ceremony and reception on the rooftop, overlooking the city - a perfectly modern backdrop. "We chose Aerial not just because it was rooftop, but because it was above all of the honky tonks that make Nashville what it is" the couple to me. "We wanted it to be elegant, with a glimmer of rockabilly and country in the background. The glow of the city lights and neon from below was perfect!"

Sean & Nicola love the great outdoors so that's exactly where they headed for their engagement shoot. A local country park provided the perfect setting for this sweet, fun and romantic photo shoot. Afterwards the couple got dressed up and headed back to the city for some hilarious photo booth style shots - these are my favourites!

I hope you've all had a fabulous week. I've been getting really over-excited this week about my new blog branding. I've been working on it with an amazing graphic designer (all will be revealed in due course) and holy moly, it is going to be goooorrrgesous! However I've also been stressing a little bit. I've got rather a lot of projects on the go at the moment (which, don't get me wrong is awesome!) but I'm really looking forward to mid-July when I can have a little break. I need to remember that I'm doing stuff that I love!! I can easily be a big old stresshead at times. I think I'm the most scared about my first public speaking venture at the Unveiled event on July 1st in London. I have been invited to go and speak about alternative wedding photography and eeeek I am cacking it...I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of photographers that I know read this blog so please be nice to me. I'll try not to stumble over my words too much! haha.

OK so I feature a lot of weddings photographed by Emma Case...but the thing is, all her weddings and all her couples are so RAD that as soon as I see the photographs I'm like "Emma Emma Emma send these to meeeee!" You get me right? The event I got so excited about this week was Kelly & John's wedding. Their inspiration came from the traditional English village fete, "where Nan brings an apple pie and auntie Brenda brings the coleslaw" Kelly explained. I love that!! The couple wanted a laid back, casual, relaxed and informal wedding which they pulled off on a budget. "We had two things in mind when we planned our wedding" Kelly told me. "We would not spend silly money and we would do it our way. We wanted a relaxed, informal ‘village fete’ wedding with no formalities and in general, a big knees up! Practically everything was done on a budget but I think it makes you more creative anyway! I think having a wedding with a difference in England is hard work – finding the right people to work with and in particular, sticking to your guns, but it really is soooo worth it. Our wedding couldn’t have been ‘more us’ and it went beyond both our expectations – and the comments we’ve had about the day have been very touching. I just wish we could do it all again!"

I have so much love for Gretchen & Darby's cute, retro, geek chic engagement sesh. Not only did the chalkboard/hearts location slay me, but their fashion choices are just so perfect...and they match each other in an oh-so-cute and not at all puke-worthy way. The super bright checked set, the crazy 70's jumpers set and the lilac-y matching dress and tie set. Oh so adorable! I love love love them.

When I first saw these I was like "erm...is that a bed in a river?!" I thought it surely must have been some post production/photo shop trick but no, they actually lugged about 300lb of bed 3/4 of a mile down to a river to get these shots!

Leslie & Paul's retro, picnic engagement took place at Bartram Gardens which is a historical landmark and the oldest botanical garden in the U.S. Leslie is a hair stylist so it was obvious that their hair would look fabulous but they also went all out with the props and styling to create a really authentic 1940's - 50's vibe.

As soon as a saw Catherine & Kev's fabulous 50's style wedding, my attention was drawn to one thing - that amazing Stephanie James Couture dress! I have been a superfan of the designer ever since I found and fell in love with this amazing multi-coloured tulle creation and OMG Catherine's had a similar underskirt. She too fell in love with this dress when I featured in a while ago. "My maid of honour, Kirree, found a dress on Rock n Roll Bride made by Stephanie James Couture" Catherine explained. "It was the 'Lustful' or 'Tame Fifi' dress you featured a while back, as soon as she sent me a link to the pictures I knew that was the dress I needed to get married in! I quickly got in touch with Stephanie and asked if she could make me a similar version and she said yes!"

You might remember Tim & Merrill's self-engagement shoot (and here) or their ridiculously amazing wedding. If so, you'll be just as excited to see their 'Honeyversary' shoot as I was yesterday. The couple are photographers and have just been married over a year. As they moved to New York pretty much straight after their wedding they never had time for a honeymoon so they decided to take a trip to Palm Springs this month.

I like writing posts like this. They get my brain a-flexing and they're always a little bit controversial...and that's all good to me! I constantly receive emails from newbie (or sometimes even quite established) bloggers from all niches (not just wedding) asking for my help or opinion on how to go about taking on blog sponsors and how to make money from their blog. I try to reply to every single one, however of course how much detail I go into generally depends on my current busy-ness situation. So, I've been toying with the idea for a little while to put all my thoughts, musings and opinions (for that's what these are) into one place so I can hopefully direct future question-askers right here. I'm sharing my own experience and the trials and tribulations I've had through this 'making money from blogging thing' and am in no way claiming to be an expert. However I hope in some way I can help some of your starting out in this journey we call blogging...oh and for those of you out there that berate me for making money as a blogger...well...I'd suggest not reading on.
