Thursday Treats: Shooting Up a Storm!

Kat

April 24, 2014

This week started with an Easter egg hunt around my parent's back garden. Yes, my sisters and I might be 26, 28 and 30 respectively, but that didn't stop us - it all got very competitive! I also did a super fun shoot for Claire's on Tuesday at my house, the results of which I'll be sharing really soon. AND tomorrow I'm heading over to The Big Smoke to shoot up a storm with my buddy Chris Barber. It's all go go go in Rock n Roll Bride land!

The Best Thing to Ever Happen to Me

Kat

April 22, 2014

Last Thursday I heard the sad news that the shopping channel I used to work for went into administration. Everyone was called up that morning and told not to come into work. They all lost their jobs with immediate effect. Although from the outside looking in it wasn't a massive surprise (there'd be whisperings of it 'being near the end' for years, even before I left in 2011) I was genuinely gutted. Kristine Foley

April 21, 2014

Stephanie and Rob's wedding was nearly all handmade. They wanted it to have a laid back and unfussy feel but for it to be a little bit fancy. "I used some turn of the 20th century gowns for inspiration, particularly for the shape of the skirt, and combined a variety of related lace patterns. I was really, really happy with how it turned out, but I think the mirroring of the pattern on the waistband is my favorite part."

April 20, 2014

Ames and Tel met when they were twelve, at school. Needless to say it wasn't love at first sight! However eleven years later they virtually bumped into each other on MySpace and saw each other on a few nights out. Shortly after that they started dating. "We didn't set out with a theme in mind for our wedding, we just knew we wanted a laid back relaxed do with close friends and family", Ames explained. "We didn't have much money to spend (our budget was £3000) so we wanted to do as much ourselves as we could. I think in the end we had a laid back, homemade vintage feel to the day."

Picnic and Garden Party Wedding: Marissa & Lauren

Nordica

April 16, 2014

Marissa and Lauren were married in the gardens of St. Anne's Academy in Victoria, British Columbia. They wanted their wedding to be intimate and frugal, except when it came to their photographs. They knew those had to be incredible so they booked the AMAZING Nordica Photography who flew over from Stockholm to shoot the day. The made the picnic baskets themselves, including almond stuffed figs which were grown, dried and made by Marissa's grandmother in Portugal. The flowers were bought from a local market - Marissa's bouquet cost $3.99! They also made all the décor themselves.
