At first glance, this is a gorgeous wedding full of all the details that Rock n Roll Bride readers go nuts for. But this is actually a styled shoot! And it has a beautiful story behind it... Vanessa ('Vanny') and Martin are very close friends of photographers Anna and Johannes. When they were all children, Anna's little sister brought her friend Vanny home from school. Vanny's father had died of cancer and her mum had a new boyfriend and so was almost never home. Vanny was mostly living off pizza and soft drinks, said Anna. "Since my family is very sociable (and crazy), we kind of adopted Vanny and so she spent a lot of time with us during those years, and we went through a lot together. Johannes and I had a styled shoot planned, and we asked Vanny and her boyfriend Martin to be the models. What they didn't tell us was that not only they were freshly engaged, but they were also expecting a baby! Our shoot then turned out to be half styled and half real wedding, with me doing a speech in church, everybody crying, and our friends playing the parts of the bridal party!"

Overall they wanted to create a really good party and the bride knew she wanted to wear Vivienne Westwood from the outset. "I’ve been such a fan of hers for ages", she said, "and I once worked at her store, so I knew exactly what I’d go for. All the accessories were bought to compliment it too!"

Although they both definitely need replacing at some point (the downstairs on is a delightful shade of avocado) they are were perfectly functional, and actually in much better shape than the one in our own place, despite their age. Charlotte and Ben's first attempt at planning their wedding ended up being an exercise in pleasing other people, which didn't work out as you can't ever keep everyone happy. Sadly, they decided to cancel the wedding. However, not to be defeated, they gave it a second bash, and this time jetted off to Las Vegas with their closest family. The bride said, "It was a tough call, but ultimately the right decision. And this time around, we just did whatever we wanted. No overthinking or worrying about other people’s opinions. Our true inspiration was to get away from the stress of reality! Where better than Las Vegas!" Add in an Elvis officiant in a gold jacket, and I say where better indeed!?

Sarah and Drew wanted their wedding to really showcase where they grew up (and hosted their wedding): Newfoundland and Labrador. Although they had been living in Alberta for a number of years, they wanted their wedding to reflect their love of the most easterly province of Canada. “We had been living in Alberta for a number of years, and wanted our wedding to reflect our East Coast roots, so we included elements that evoked the island everywhere we could, "said Sarah. “The aisle was lined with rubber boots, we used a lobster trap as a card holder and the reception tables were named after Newfoundland communities. The head table was named Heart’s Content.”

After deciding to get married in 2018, Sara and Mark began to plan their wedding in the UK complete with a large guest list, a woodland setting and tipis, festoon lights and a whimsical, autumnal theme. Sadly, their venue went into liquidation so they had to cancel everything and start again. They were going to go to Vegas, but then THAT got cancelled due to COVID so they had to start planning all over again! This time, and after all the stress and two cancellations, they opted to do something entirely different.
