Wedding themed photo shoots and editorials often follow a very particular formula, but when wedding planner Catalina Rojo of Celebrations by Catalina set out to organise one, she knew she’d be taking a very different route.
Rather than focusing on a couple, or a single bride model, she called in help from a diverse collection of models and suppliers who she knew would help her celebrate inclusivity, creativity, and some really bold design ideas.

“We brought two worlds together: the serenity of the forest and the electric energy of a late-night rave”, she said. “This editorial shows couples that all love stories deserve to shine in full colour. We crashed the calm, earthy magic of a woodland setting straight into disco energy – mirrored balls in the trees, metallics against mushrooms, and styling that favours maximalist colour and eclectic flair over polished perfection. The result is a wedding world where funky meets feral, a queer love celebration, and the best wedding reception you’ve ever wandered into.”

Just as important as the aesthetic was the intention behind it. This shoot was built around real representation. “We intentionally collaborated with a diverse team of models and creatives who reflect the beautifully expansive reality of today’s wedding community”, she continued. “Gender expression, body diversity, cultural identity, and personal style weren’t treated as trends or tokens, they were essential to the story. Every look, pose, and moment centres real people and the many ways love shows up in the world. Ultimately, Woodland Disco is an invitation for couples to do their own thing. Wear something outrageous. Make the ceremony joyful, weird, and personal. Hang disco balls in the trees. Weddings don’t have to follow a script, and honestly, they’re a lot more interesting when they don’t.”

That commitment shaped every aspect and the narrative remains open to interpretation. The people gathered here could be partners, chosen family, a polyamorous relationship, or something else entirely. “We intentionally disrupted the expected”, Catalina concluded. “The wedding industry is evolving, but it still often defaults to tradition and expectation. In my experience, the most meaningful celebrations happen when marriers feel empowered to question the norms and prioritise what genuinely reflects them.”
