Brandi & Chris' DIY wedding has a rustic western theme. The day took place at Temecula Farmhouse in California, a venue that really reflected their theme idea perfectly. The couple and their families worked hard on their DIY elements to create a day that was perfect for them. Chris' Father did all the flowers and centrepieces. I love how they used cowboy boots as vases, what a unique idea to tie the theme together! Brandi's Mother made the cake and her Godfather got ordained so he could officiate the emotional ceremony which took place outside the farmhouse.

The thing I love about all you Rock n Roll Bride's is the diversity of all your weddings. Every morning my inbox is flooded with so many different wedding visions that it my days are never dull! Farley & Niko's wedding was planned in only 8 weeks. They explained, "We decided to go for it when Farley's Dad was diagnosed with pancreas and liver cancer. We therefore hadn't saved for it and had to cut corners where ever we could. We did have some very generous donations form family members which made it possible. I think we did it all within £4000 (that's 120 guests all fed)."

Sharon & Mike woodland wedding was held at Owl Moon Farm in The Berkshires, MA in September. Both the bride and groom wore vintage clothes and even Sharon’s engagement ring was made from the cast of a vintage ring. Sharon told me all about their day, starting with why they decided to get married in Massachusetts, “We live in California, and when our state revoked the right for homosexuals to marry, it really angered and upset me. I believe that any two people who are in love should be able to legally (and socially) commit themselves to each other.

The edgy and organic style of the dress really reflects the laid back vibe of the whole day. A simple wedding in terms if details and 'fluff' but one that shows the couple at their coolest. I love!

have a certain affinity with this bride...can anyone work out why?! Cryptic huh? In fact you lot know me so well that I was sent links to this wedding by no less than five readers telling me I had to feature it as they all wanted to know more about this gorgeous wedding. Well, you asked...and I delivered. I'm so chuffed! Melinda & Stu were married in September at Thornewood Castle, Tacoma, WA. "My husband had always envisioned getting married in a European Castle," began the bride. "Unfortunately, I knew if we did that we'd have a very lonely wedding with just us and our parents, so we had to set our sights closer to... well, this continent. I didn't think it would be possible to find what Stu was envisioning in the Pacific Northwest, until I stumbled across Thornewood Castle. The Tudor manor house was originally build in England in the 1500's, but in 1910 it was moved brick by brick and reassembled on it's current site on American Lake in Tacoma, WA. We had the ceremony in the sunken rose garden, and the reception in the great hall, dining room, and loggia."

Carl & Emilia's hipster wedding was held at The Museum of Modern Art, Stockholm, Sweden, which they chose for it's breathtaking view and because it is one of their most favourite places in the city. "We planned to have the ceremony outdoors in an adjacent garden," explained the couple. "Instead of sunshine however (which really is not asking to much even in Sweden that time of year) we got rain. Then we got even more rain and after that thunderstorms. Thus, we had to make some last minute changes i.e. move the ceremony indoors, but it all worked out perfectly thanks to our wonderful family and friends who gladly moved around all furniture. In the end the ceremony turned out even better than originally planned!"

Mo & Chris’ 1940’s Styled, State Park Wedding

Mo & Chris wedding insipration came from the 1940's and the fact that Chris is an old Ska kid. The bride explained, "For our clothes we decided we wanted a vintage feel. Chris wanted to stay away from tuxedos and suits and being an old ska kid at heart he wanted to have a vintage swingers kind of style. He gave the groomsmen their flat caps as a gift, they all picked their own colors, and he wore a black fedora with a feather in it. He told them to get grey shirts and black pants. The suspenders were my favorite part."

I was sent Troyene & Michael's wedding and day after sesh by their photographer Lara and I have to be honest I was instantly smitten with her dress! As a lady who loves a bit of multi-coloured action myself, I couldn't wait to feature both sets of images together. The is one hell of a bumper post full of rainbow joy (check out the cake and umbrella too!) The dress is question was created for the bride by a friend and she wore it with Vivienne Westwood shoes. Oh how I love this girl's style.

Imi & Joe had a beautiful wedding on the side of Lavender Hill. The couple were married in an outdoor ceremony in front of Lake Tinaroo, Queensland, surrounded by all their friends & family. Following the touching service they had a casual picnic style reception in the same location. There were chickens, totem tennis, lawn games and a photo booth. The band that played were fronted by the groom.

Polly & Stuart’s Wartime Wedding

Polly & Stuart's wartime inspired wedding was held in a marquee in Polly's parent's back garden. "We love vintage style from the 1930's-1960's. We wanted to incorporate our love of 1950's Rock n Roll into our wedding and combine it with the aesthetic of a wartime garden party," explained the bride. "We furnished our marquee and gentleman's smoking room with pieces of furniture, decor and paintings from our home. I can safely say that I don't think that anyone else has ever had a 1940's waxworks dummy in their wedding marquee! We also wrote our own 'hymn' for our wedding service. We put sticks of rock on all the tables.We combined stylistic references and it worked- We backed the stage with 1950's style working men's club red curtains and had Victorian birdcages stuffed with ivy and pearls suspended from the ceiling. We turned my parents' summer house into the 'gentlemen's smoking room' complete with pipes, silk smoking jackets and a drinks cabinet. We had our dog Enid Mouse as our whippet of honour. Our magnificent nautical cake complete with Marzipan octopus tentacles was by Annie at Yummy Nice. The cake was topped by a sculpture of us in a boat made by my husband Stuart. We didn't want to be constrained with any particular rules!"

Ted & Nina's wedding was put together by the power of the internet - that is, they saved money as best they could by buying everything online! Nina's dress was bought from Dark Angel and really set the tone for the whole day. The striking purple & white theme was everywhere they looked, from the bride's gorgeous coat from eBay and her fabulous hat from The Black Cat Boutique to the flowers, the groom's outfit and even the bride's hair!

Leslie & Ben's rowing club wedding shows perfectly why I adore my readers! Such utter gorgeousness without conforming to anybody else's idea of what makes a wedding...plus the whole thing was DIY. I approve! "We called in a lot of favours to make the day; partially because we had a limited budget, but also because by using friends the day would be more special. Luckily we have a lot of talented friends who include a graphic designer (who did our invitations), a chef (catering), a musician (band), ex-florist and so forth. The favours, peanut butter fudge, I made myself 4 days before. It was all gone before the main course at the sit down dinner, so I'm guessing no one minded it was made by the bride!"

"My husband and I met on New Year's day in 2007 after a persistent friend-turned-matchmaker insisted that we meet," began Carolyn, the bride, when I asked her to tell me the story of how she met Julian. "It wasn't love at first sight at all, in fact I thought he looked like an obnoxious guy! It wasn't until we started chatting online and finally meeting up a couple more times, and when he asked "Have you heard of Explosions In The Sky?" (our space-out-heart-tugging fave musicians). It was a done deal. We became inseparable ever since."

Cute, quirky, British weddings are my utter favourites to feature. There's so much originality and such fabulous ideas floating around this industry of ours, and it really really excites me! I was lucky enough to meet Heather, the photographer who captured this beautiful wedding, at the Unveiled Photography Conference that I spoke at in July so I'm so excited to see that she's put what she learnt in to practice with this killer wedding. Helen & Dan were married in September in Rye. Their theme was "a good old-fashioned Coronation Street party/1940s tea party feel". Originally the couple had planned to have an Alice in Wonderland theme, however after the film came out, and the whole world went Alice mad, they decided to do something different and more unique. "My mum is a magpie for nice bits and set about scouring the length and breadth of Lancashire's charity shops for table decorations, the cups and saucers, the teapots and the candelabras" began the bride. "Dan's nan volunteers in a charity shop, so she managed to pick up some lovely pieces too."

My original plan today was to head out into my garden and take some snowy snaps for Photography Friday...however as I stared blankly through my kitchen window I had second thoughts and realised that it's flippin' COLD out there and you know what!? Adrienne & Christian’s Budget-Friendly, Central Park Wedding

Adrienne & Christian were married in Central Park in a simple but perfect ceremony, "Central Park allows the rental of any place (except for the Conservatory Gardens) for just $25," explained the bride. "The challenge is that they do not allow you to bring in anything, including chairs, so we all had to stand. It worked out perfectly, though, since we were in a beautiful location that did not need decoration, and we had two friends organize everyone upon their arrival into neat rows with an aisle. Another friend handed out whistles and ribbon wands on the path leading to the ceremony location, so everyone could arrive while making their own music with a smile. Our assortment of slide whistles, kazoos, and siren whistles were from Century Novelty."

Michelle & Sterling’s DIY Aussie Bush Wedding

Michelle & Sterling were married at St Barnabas church, in the middle of the Aussie bush. Their reception that followed took place at Upper Landowne Community Hall. Michelle's parents had been married at the same church and hall 35 years ago so it was really special to them to also be married here. The importance of involving their families was continued throughout the planning process. "My mum and Grandmother did so much work ," said Michelle. "Mum organised all the catering which was done by the local church that my Grandmother belongs to and all of the table cloths, linen napkins were hand crocheted by my Grandma. My sister made the guest book sign and we all decorated the hall and set the tables and did the flower arranging in 30 silver tea pots that I bought over time from eBay ! They looked awesome and totally fitted with the romantic, quirky theme. We even found a home for the 80 massive paper tissue pom poms we made."

Jess & Rob got married "under a lone tree in a field" in a cermony that was perfectly related to the things that they adore. "They really do live a dreamy life," their photographer's Emmy & Aaron told me. "Jess is a lover of horses and what better life than to run Foxstone Stables at Glenora Farm and also to live right above the stable with 300 acres of Vancouver Island's Cowichan Valley paradise. They even have their own natural spring swimming pond, meadows with lone trees, and gorgeousness everywhere you look!" Needless to say, their home provided the perfect location for the wedding.
