September 13, 2014

Jessica and Dashiell eloped in June at Migdale Water Mill Cottage in Migdale, Scotland. The bride wore a gorgeous vintage dress from the 1930s. "After calculating the cost of a big wedding for family and friends, we agreed that we’d be much happier spending 1/3 of the cost for a small ceremony in the Highlands", she said. "It was simpler and more appropriate to find a beautiful location rather than to attempt to make a location beautiful."

Bohemian Festival Wedding with Entertainment A-Plenty: Chris & Emmy

Kat

Kari Bellamy

September 12, 2014

Chris and Emmy were married early in the day, so they wanted to lay on lots of entertainment for their guests. "We wanted a day that was relaxed, fun and family-friendly", wrote the bride. "We had our humanist hand fasting ceremony at 10:30 in the morning, so we wanted to make sure there was plenty for our guests to do throughout the day. We go to a lot of festivals and run a dance tent with my family called the Griffin Tent, so we used that as a starting point, using the marquee and having a pub quiz and live bands in the afternoon. The river running through Loudwater Farm is the same river we both played in as children (we've known each other since we were 11!), so we had fishing nets and wellies for everyone to paddle. We added archery, circus toys, dreamcatcher making and an art and crafts den, and finished up with a silent disco."

Markéta and Sam said "I do" within the Ruins of Castle Košumberk in the Czech Republic. Their colourful theme represented the two of them, and overall their theme was love and hearts! "We love colourful things and bright styles so our theme for the wedding could be called a heartfelt kaleidoscope meets 50s twist and shout!", Markéta said. "Hearts were easy. I love Melissa shoes and I just loved my wedding shoes. When Sam proposed I ordered them just two days after. They have a big cute heart and so we decided a heart theme for the whole wedding sounded good.

Sam and Hattie were married at the bride's parents home, in a tipi set up in their extensive garden. But this wasn't the usual laid back backyard affair. Michaela and Aviad were wed in the Ben Shemen forest, Israel. They wanted a relaxed wedding, just like they are in their every day lives! "We met while working together at the same bar", began the bride. Nothing happened between us for a long time until we were both invited to a friend's wedding. Maybe it was the magic air of a Jewish wedding, but I started to see something between us. Before we knew it we were on a date in a Greek restaurant in Jaffa!"

July 9, 2014

Courtney and Nick wanted a day that didn't break the bank. They managed to keep the costs down by shopping in charity shops, accepting help from family and friends and DIYing a lot! They put the flowers together themselves, had a playlist instead of a band or DJ and made their own stationery. Both of their outfits were "lucky finds on the internet". The designers didn't matter to them, only that they liked what they wore. The bridesmaids had dresses from eBay.

Outdoor Jewish Wedding in Austin: Danny & Maya

Cory Ryan

June 28, 2014

Danny and Maya were married at Cedar Bend Events, just 25 minutes outside of Austin. They chose their venue because they wanted an outdoor wedding and this place was beautiful! "We both really wanted the wedding to be outdoors and to embody the relaxing feel of a backyard barbecue", wrote the groom. "Our original plan was actually to have a family barbecue style event and handle all of the food/catering as a family, but that proved too difficult logistically, so we opted for a wedding venue that could provide the same relaxed feeling."
