A Dry Lake Bed Destination Wedding

Natalie and Dave flew from the UK to Las Vegas for their February wedding, but this wasn’t an elopement, they took their closest friends and family with them! The idea to run away to Vegas was always on the cards though.

“Ten years ago, we both jokingly said that when we got engaged we’d go to Vegas”, began the bride. “So, when we finally got engaged we decided to actually do it! We didn’t want the traditional church wedding and we said to our friends and family that we’d love them to come with us but no pressure. In the end 20 of our favourite people came with us! We didn’t really have a budget, we just searched for what was best for us and in a good price range. We didn’t even count what we spent at the end of the day. We knew it was a lot less than a wedding here in the UK though, and more fun in our opinion.”

The ceremony took place on a dry lake bed in the Nevada desert. It was officiated Angie from Peachy Keen Unions. “We both love mountains, and I just loved the idea of us and nothingness around us just the natural beauty of the desert. The lake bed It was so perfect and we had the best weather it was so warm. Angie picked our location and said the most beautiful words. She allowed us to say our own vows which made it even more personal.”

Bad Ass Venetian Las Vegas Elopement with a Black Sequinned Dress

Crank those windows down and turn that fan up because we’ve got the hottest wedding in the world for you on the blog today courtesy of Kiersten and Mike. Their bad ass elopement in Las Vegas (at the Venetian, no less) was relaxed and beautiful, but with serious edge – I mean, check out that black sequinned wedding dress!

“The inspiration for our wedding was to escape, but in a bad ass kind of way,” Kiersten explains. Having met first as friends, and become more than friends thanks to margaritas, “We ran away to Vegas and got married on a sidewalk, before our first dance as husband and wife and a celebratory smoke once it was official!”

Pink Pin Up Las Vegas Vow Renewal

Staysi and David did the formal wedding thing the first time around, so when it came to their vow renewal, they decided to go FULL Vegas elopement style. As they’re both from Las Vegas, they wanted something fun and larger than life to celebrate ten years together – and they smashed it.

“We are both very into pin up/rockabilly culture, so we wanted our looks to be totally us, just a little more formal!” Staysi explains. “I have bright purple and blue hair and so designed and made a 50s inspired wedding dress for myself, with a matching mini me dress for my daughter, Wynter Lee. David is a great sport and knew he had to find something equally as fun so he went with pink pants and a pink flamingo shirt!”

They got married at the Fremont Wedding Chapel, officiated by Elvis – obviously, who else?! “Our favourite part was Elvis singing my daughter’s favourite song, Viva las Vegas. It was such a fun part of the ceremony, with everyone singing along and dancing. Our daughter being involved was the best thing about planning it – whenever she sees pictures or hears stories about our wedding she always gets so bummed she was the only person not there. she was so excited about being our maid of honour in her pink dress!”

Industrial Monochrome Wedding with Pops of Rainbows

Jessica and Steven married like film stars just a couple of days after Christmas at the impressive Las Vegas Production Studios. They said their “I dos” on a sound stage with cotton candy lighting in the background (crafted by the bride’s dad, who has worked at the venue for years)… plus a teddy bear. Yes, you heard me right! The bride explained, “We have a bear joke within the family, so we had a ring bear come down from the rafters instead of a ring bearer. Only six people or so got it, but it was worth it. I’m so glad the entire thing is in the video on our website!”

These two have known each other for 20 years, first meeting at church, and had been dating for more than seven years before planning their wedding. Jessica knew she needed something totally true to their style and so chose a black and white theme with pops of rainbow. She said, “Our personal styles became the inspiration for the wedding. We just started to put together things we liked and before we knew it, we made all of this!”

Documentary Inspired Las Vegas Elopement

There’s something about a Las Vegas wedding that I just can’t get enough of, and Tamara and Chris’ November wedding is no different. With a budget of £7500 they flew to Sin City from he UK and had the Rock n Roll elopement of their dreams.

They had their ceremony in the chapel at The Wynn. “Our wedding was an elopement done our way”, began the bride. “We wanted to make it all about us, travelling and seeing new places together and making amazing memories. The inspiration for our wedding was our photographer’s documentary style photography.”

The bride tried on lots of dresses, but it was only after she asked for Chris’ advice that she was finally able to find the dress of her dreams. “One of the most unique things about our wedding was that Chris chose my dress! I went to six different wedding dress shops on my own and with friends and did not go get that ‘wow’ from any of them other than the one I put a reserve on. The day before I was due to go back and pay for the rest of the dress and collect it, Chris was in the bath and I sat next to him on the floor and showed him all the photos of myself in all the different dresses I had tried on. The ones I thought he would like, he hated, and the ones I thought he would hate he loved! He said he really disliked the dress I had actually reserved so I decided to cancel it.”

Vegas-Inspired Wedding with Snazzy Suits, Sequins & All the Confetti!

Gemma’s ‘Suits and Sequins’ summary of her wedding to Guy is very apt, as in true Sinatra style they did things their way. Their Peckham wedding, shot by megababe Devlin Photos, was emotional and incredible from start to finish, from that sparkly green wedding dress (swoon) to the ‘Silly Old Beans’ sign they were married under, and the story behind their couples’ amazing portraits…

“There wasn’t a straight up inspiration for the wedding,” explains Gemma, who works in events as a day job. “With any event I plan I can find that really restrictive, and the beauty of a wedding is that you don’t have to have those boundaries. It can just be about you two, even if nobody else ‘gets it’. Having said that, we did ask everyone to dress in suits and sequins, and it was amazing how everyone turned up – the best dressed bunch of wonderful people.”

Speaking of sequins, Gemma looked every inch the glittery goddess in a spangly green number. “My dress was made by my bridesmaid, Nadia. I found the whole focus on what I was wearing quite overwhelming – it seemed to be everyone’s first question! Even though I left making it until a few weeks before the wedding, we had been searching for the perfect fabric for a few months. I wanted the perfect deep green so I felt like a Supreme. The dress shape was taken from a £12 New Look dress I loved the shape of on myself, which we then adapted.”
