There's a hybrid wedding trend we're seeing a lot these days - not quite an elopement, but definitely not a big wedding either. Jay and Brian knew this was what they wanted for their nuptials. They didn't want to entirely run away and do it on their own, but they didn't want to host a ton of people and drop a huge amount of money on it either. So, they found a comfortable mid-way point and married at Hackney Town Hall, followed by a meal at a local restaurant with just 14 guests (and their sausage dog, Duncan!)

Imagine what your wedding could be like if you had no-one else but yourselves to please. If you could wear what you wanted, invite who you wanted and spend the day exactly as you liked, no questions asked. This doesn't have to be a fantasy and although these images are from a photo shoot rather than a real ceremony, I think they're going to inspire you to look to yourselves for your wedding concept and ideas, rather than getting lost in a world of Pinterest boards and Facebook groups!

Sarah and Dave fell in love in the desert when Sarah lived in Arizona acting as her younger brother’s caregiver as he recovered from a heart transplant. It was a difficult time, but the beauty of the desert had a real impact on them. Kate and Jordon were married in an intimate ceremony at Mt Thompson Crematorium, where the bride works, in Holland Park, Brisbane. They wanted the wedding to reflect their lives and everything they've built together. They included nods to the bride's Scottish heritage such as the tartan sash attached to her Sherri Hill dress and by having a handfasting and whiskey ceremony. The wedding cake was made with Belgian chocolate as a nod to Jordon being born in Belgium.

January 6, 2020

As we kick of 2020, I'm not sure I can think of a more perfect feature than this roaring 1920s themed vow renewal! And OMG is she a beauty! We feature quite a few vow renewals, but not often those of LGBTQ couples, so I was super excited to hear all about Kaitlin and Stephanie's love story. The day began life as a styled shoot, but they decided to renew their vows for real. They were married in Paris originally so wanted nods to this throughout too.

Zoe Larkin

October 21, 2019

The inspiration for Meg and Chad’s San Francisco elopement is unlucky for some - the number 13! “It’s both our favourite numbers,” said Meg, “and we originally had a wedding planned for January 13th, 2019 and were going to San Francisco for the holidays. We were planning our trip out for sight-seeing and things to do, and we look at each other and half joked about how cool it would be to get married in San Francisco! We had said though that we would only do it if we could still have 13 in our anniversary. I logged into the City Hall website, and the only date available for when we were in San Fran was October 30th - 10/30 = 13!”
