Leah & Peter had a red & black themed rockabilly wedding. They kept the fact that they had got married earlier in the day a surprise from a lot of their guests but made sure all the most important people were in attendance...including their two (very well dressed!) pugs. "We were never officially engaged (Peter bought my my black pug Ziggy instead of an engagement ring!) we just always knew we would get married and with both of us turning 30 in June 2010 was as good a reason as any," Leah told me. !We never wanted to be the kind of people who let the real reason for getting married to be overshadowed by stressing about table placings etc so we focused on what would make us have a good time at the party and turned the tables so people were leaving with things that we had bought!"Read more...

Sarah's bridal shoot was super kick ass so I'm more than a little excited to be sharing her wedding today too. She married Barrett at Barr Mansion, Austin. She explained, "As for location, as I said several times, I didn't want to be in the middle of a field with a bunch of grass and trees because that just isn't me! I love cities and urban living and wanted my photos to reflect my love for those quirky little places you find around Austin." "I loved the recycling plant idea with those huge piles of twisted metal! My inspiration for my entire wedding look just came from my love for pin up girl looks along with the very intense desire to not look at my wedding photos in 20 years and say "Oh my gosh! Sara's bridal shoot makes me heart sing! Motorbike, cute doggie, ink, vintage brooch bouquet...oh yes I certainly approve of this! Sara told me all about her inspiration for her shoot with Sweet Caroline Photo, "My dress is from Pronovias and I got it from a bridal boutique in Salado, Tx called Coccinella's. My necklace was actually found at one of those crazy bridal extravaganzas from Stella Dot. I saw it there, tried it on, and decided within 5 minutes that it was THE necklace! My shoes were none other than Irregular Choice! Love them! I really wanted something fun, quirky, and comfortable...and flat, as my fiancé is only about an inch taller than me! My bouquet was made by myself and my fiancé, Barrett. I took a bunch of my old jewellery and hair pieces that I used to wear ALL the time and I haven't been able to part ways with and wired them all together. I also asked my stylists and receptionists at my salon to give me some of their old jewellery because I really wanted a piece of them with me during all of this. They gave me a lot of pendants, rings, earrings, etc, and I love being able to look at it and see pieces of the people that have become my family."Read more...

"I guess we’re Rock n Roll in our attitude about life," began the bride. "We are both vegan and our whole wedding was as well. We never let anyone get in the way of that despite some people trying to persuade us otherwise. Patti & Frank are just the epitome of Rock n Roll Bride! Whenever people ask me what my favourite type of weddings are, weddings like this one are what I describe - tattoos, DIY, short wedding dresses, fabulous bridesmaids and happy, smiling faces! Patti wore an original 1950's vintage dress, awesome shoes by Harajuku Lovers and feathers in hair. "I originally spent $2,000 on a custom made dress which I had designed myself," the bride told me. "Well I had someone who specialized in wedding dresses make it (first problem) and I guess our vision was not the same and I didn't like what she made at all! I went to Cambridge Antique market looking for some vintage brooches to jazz it up and the first thing I saw see when I turned the corner was this dress. I think it had a light shining on it with my name! It was meant to be and just a week before the wedding and it fit like a glove! Oh and the best part? It only cost me $150!"Read more...

"We knew our wedding was going to be slightly different but I guess thats what you get when you try to incorporate cars, music and food, emphasising the feasting and dancing with friends and family rather than the actual ceremony" began bride Louisa. "We both have an affinity with old cars, cars that have been around a while and have a tale to tell so we had no problem finding a wedding car - I had the perfect excuse to use my hotrod, a 1928 Model A Ford. Angela, her fiance Luc and their two chihuahuas Minou & Birdie (there's no way we can ignore them!) had a beautiful session to celebrate their engagement. The couple, who will be marrying in Mexico next May, wanted a variety of shots from casual ones with the dogs to ones with ridiculous props and finally to a few on a golf course. "Because my sweetie loves golf we went to a golf course and tried to have a vintage feel to the pics... Don't know how much of a vintage feel we got but I don't care - I love them!" Amanda & Marcel's Florida engagement session was a gift from their friend Mireya at Axiom Photo Studio. "From the moment Marcel and I got engaged, Mireya called us up and said...'I have a vision' " Amanda told me. "She told us where and when to meet and she would take care of the rest. I decided to hit up a few Goodwill stores the night before and ended up getting my entire wardrobe for under $20. She knew she wanted to capture "us" and "Miami" and she really did. She took us to some kick-ass graffiti walls in Wynwood and then we traveled back to Little Havana for some cafecito. I think you're going to love Kim & Paul's wedding - its the perfect post for a gorgeous sunny Monday like today! The couple, from Colorado, got married at Ke Iki Beach Bungalows, on the North Shore of Oahu. They went diy crazy and did a lot of the wedding themselves - from the flowers (which they bought wholesale) to the homemade veil. "We really wanted our wedding to be a 'non-wedding wedding' that was as unique as we were and at the same time have a super fun beach party!" Kim told me." We also wanted to involve our family and friends... so thankful we have so many creative people in our lives to help (flowers, hair, make-up, firecrackers!). Even though I didn't buy one bridal magazine or try on any dresses, I definitely perused the wedding-porn online that was tailored for the independent thinking brides. We didn't want to give in to the 'wedding industrial complex' and doing things the way they are "suppose" to be. I think that I've always been a non-traditionalist which is why I chose to forgo the cliche white dress and khaki Hawaiian beach wedding for one that was more colorful, stylish, elegant but still casual enough for the beach.
