A DIY ‘Glamping’ Wedding & a Bride with Pink Hair: Josie & Nick

Kat

July 18, 2012

I ain't gonna lie... I harbor a certain level favoritism for pink haired brides... hum, I wonder why!? So when I saw Josie & Nick's camping themed wedding I was very excited indeed. The couple didn't spend a bomb on the day, utlising things they already owned (hello, look at Jodie's awesome Antaina boots!), by having the reception in Nick's parent's back garden and by making as much of it as they could themselves. "We DIY’ed everything", Jodie told me. "It can be really easy to bite off more than you can chew though so my advice would be to decide on a cohesive theme early on. Select projects you know you can complete both skill wise and in the time you have. And start early! Anything you can do well in advance is great."

Bitchless Bride on Rock n Roll Bride: Communication is Key

Kat

July 16, 2012

You may have seen me talk about Bitchless Bride before, especially on twitter. She is my new wedding industry hero! The alter ego of a wedding planner (and no, even I don't know her true identity!) who was sick to death of crazy bridezillas and mental wedding vendors, she set up her blog to give it to us STRAIGHT. I loooove her. She's a hoot. And hell, she rocks a pink wig. We're definitely destined to be BFFs. I just about wet my pants with excitement when her video guest blog landed in my inbox. Some exclusive Bitchless Bride on Rock n Roll Bride?! Hell. Yes. We are a match made in wedding heaven. Listen up brideys, listen up wedding suppliers, cos Bitchless is about to give it to you. No holds barred.

A Quirky New South Wales Wedding: Nat & Michael

Kat

June 27, 2012

The New South Wales wedding of Nat & Michael was full of quirky touches - starting with the bride's awesome pink & blue locks and 1930s wedding dress of course! "We really wanted to keep our wedding cool, calm and casual without missing out of a bit of glam and class!" the bride told me. "We stuck with the motto 'Our day, our way' and tried to make sure that it was just a bunch of fun for everyone. I was the boss of planning, but that didn't mean that Michael wasn't represented- I've been to plenty of weddings where it feels like the groom didn't get his say and we talked everything over and came to a consensus. Really the whole planning process was a breeze because I stayed really calm about everything and just let things happen naturally. There was only one 'freak out' moment in the whole year and a half we were engaged and that was about the boy's suits, they very nearly ended up without any because we had a hard time finding something that suited everyone. Everything just fell in to place, and I think it was because we didn't get our heart too set on anything and just went with the flow."

Kat

May 13, 2012

After the aceness of last week I wasn't sure my New York adventure could get any better...oh how wrong I was! On Monday we waved goodbye to The Lasertron's (boohoo) and Gala & I then basically spent the whole week distracting each other. I'd love to move here one day, but if I did I fear neither of us would ever get any work done! We had too much fun doing things like this...

A Runaway Bride Styled Shoot

Kat

May 2, 2012

London wedding photographer Ann Charlotte set up this morning's editorial shoot in order to showcase an idea she'd had running through her head for a while. "I love fairytales and this fictional fairytale wedding/fashion shoot was inspired by Alice in Wonderland and the idea of a runaway bride. I wanted to shoot a misunderstood bride, running away from her wedding in tears. After some soul searching she eventually came back home to a waiting husband-to-be and a reconciliation."

An ‘Old Soul’ Bridal Shoot: Bella Angelina

Kat

April 23, 2012

There are few things I love more than a beautiful pink haired bride. So when Bella Angelina's (yes, I know, best name ever!) bridal shoot sent over by Veronica Lane Photography I was thrilled. "Angelina is a locally known artist who also teaches art classes to children at the one of the galleries in Chatham-Kent, Ontario (Canada)," Veronica told me. "Angelina has been 'pink' for 6 years and has no intention of letting the look fade away any time soon. She did her own hair and makeup for the session and made the white wedding dress shown in the photos herself!"

The Desert & A Disco Tree: Danielle & Jose

Kat

March 14, 2012

Danielle & Jose are probably about the cutest couple I know. The first time I met them, at a party in LA last August, we spent the whole night huddled in the corner chatting about life, love, the universe and our mutual appreciation of British culture and photo booths! So when Danielle emailed me just before I left for Vegas to tell me they were going to be there are the same time I just about squealed with delight to be able to see my friends again.

Mark Niemierko’s Valentine’s Party at Spencer Hart, London

Kat

February 14, 2012

Last week Gareth & I were lucky enough to be invited to Mark Niemierko's annual Valentine's party, this year held at Spencer Hart Tailors located on Saville Row in Mayfair. I wore a vintage pink 1950s prom dress for the occasion which I had picked up from my favourite vintage shop in all the land, Frock n Roll. As a little v-day treat, I thought you might like to see some photos (hello pink lighting!) and the fabulous video. I was even interviewed for this one!

A Neo-Victorian, Steampunk Wedding: Jasmine & George

Kat

January 24, 2012

"We are both crafty, artistic and creative," the pink haired bride told me. "We wanted a mix of romantic gothic, neo-Victorian, vintage and steampunk for our wedding. We really wanted to make it our own and original with still trying to keep a little tradition for our families. We decided we just wanted hints of each. That's why we decided to DIY as much as we could." After an 11 year relationship, Jasmine & George were married in The Greenhouse at The Foundry, NY by groom's cousin, John Russo. "We got our wedding rings from Gemvara," Jasmine continued. "My ring has black and white diamonds and his had black diamonds added to it. The inscription says 'True Love Waits' after a Radiohead song because we waited 11 years before we got married."

A Winter-Themed Shoot & a Bride with Purple Hair

Kat

January 11, 2012

Becky's bridal shoot was the brainchild of wedding photographer Bethan Haywood Jones. She found Becky online and loved her look (hello, purple hair!) and so approached her with the idea of a winter themed shoot. "Aaaaah, winter. I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan on the whole!" Bethan explained. "It's cold, it's dark, most things appear to be dead and it rains a lot. However, the winter weddings I am lucky enough to shoot are usually bursting with love, life and enough warm things to make your toes feel toasty. So my inspiration for this bridal shoot was to show that even on the greyest of days it isn't too hard to inject a bit of colour into your day."

A Blue Burlesque Wedding with a £900 Budget: Sally & Mark

Kat

December 13, 2011

To say that I'm excited to be sharing Sally & Mark's wedding with you this afternoon would be an under-exaggeration of HUGE magnitude. Not only is their wedding freakin' awesome on so many levels, but they pulled the whole thing off for £900! Let me repeat myself to make sure you got that, because I didn't quite believe it when I read it on Sally's submission either - the whole wedding cost just £900!! "We had approx 6 weeks and a budget of around £900 for our wedding," Sally wrote. "Where we could we handmade items or got friends to help us out. We were lucky that our photographers, performers, DJ and cake makers were all friends so did us special deals. We were also able to get both our venues (the afternoon reception was held at William Steads Pub and the evening afterparty at the Tap and Spile Pub, Darlington) for free as we didn't hire them exclusively."

A Sunday Kind of Love: Getting to Know You

Kat

November 13, 2011

The funny thing with the internet is that everyone thinks they know best...all hidden behind their keyboards with their opinions on everything. A lot of people think they know the people they see online better than they actually do. But you know what, most of the people you see online are keeping things secret. Take myself for example, you know I like pink, glitter, kittens, shopping, rainbows...and that I have strong opinions on weddings, but what else do you really know about me? In the spirit of showing you I really am, here's some things you probably have't heard about me before...
