Handmade DIY Bohemian Wedding with Plants and Tassels

Desiree and Matthew’s wedding was a craft-lover’s dream with loads of beautiful cosy DIY and thrifted elements. They also included lots of greenery and plants. The bride looked like a total bad ass in her amazing specs (we love a bride or groom in glasses!)

Desiree describes her level of DIY as, “As much as possible without going crazy! I tried to make things that I’d be happy to display in our home post wedding; this included our welcome sign, our stationery suite, a hand-painted ‘family portrait’ and Himmeli prisms for the tables. I also made our guestbook out of vinyl records mounted to frames, with metallic pens there for ‘autographs’. Our wedding favours were handmade soap and organic seeds. Many guests said when they arrived at The Hacienda, Santa Ana, that it felt like stepping into our house, which was a huge compliment.”

Stylish South African Meets Irish Festival-Inspired Wedding

Fionnuala and Michael’s wedding was a celebration of South African and Irish heritage. Despite the Beast from the East (remember that?!) sadly grounding a lot of the Irish contingent travelling over for the day, they had a beautiful and relaxed festival-inspired wedding.

Describing their day as “Bohemian meets Bushveld“, Fionnuala and Michael wanted to give their Irish guests a taste of true South African hospitality. They held their ceremony and reception at the Intundla Game Lodge. Their ceremony was under a beautiful structure with streaming floral garlands and ribbons to protect them from the South African sun in the most beautifully bohemian way possible.

Southern Lodge Wedding with Modern Bohemian Styling & The Guests All in White

Destiny and Joshua’s Southern lodge wedding with modern bohoemian elements looks like it could be a styled photo shoot, it’s that perfect! As hairdressers, they’d seen their fair share of stressful weddings and, wanting to avoid that, they opted for a stress-free backyard wedding instead.

“We originally wanted to elope but promised family we wouldn’t,” Destiny explained. “Instead, it was a backyard wedding in a huge house that slept every family member and a cabin up the hill with our friends that all pitched in and helped. We had 40 of our closest people spend and entire weekend together, instead of having a huge wedding where you don’t get to see or talk to anyone in different hotels – it was a true family weekend full of love.”

Boho Hippy Festival Wedding with a Shamanic Ceremony

Hold onto your sequins ladies because you are going to LOVE Josie and John’s colourful extravaganza of a wedding! Married at Plush Tents Glamping in October, they had a day that perfectly reflected their passion for dressing up, festivals and throwing a damn good party!

“Autumn was chosen for the abundance of nature and the beautiful colours of the
changing season”, explained the bride. “The theme was inspired by a trip to the ‘Are You Experienced?’ exhibition at the V&A, a wonderful insight into the period of the late 60s and early 70s. The venue was chosen for its rustic style. Living simply and in connection with nature was a key theme of the hippy movement of that time and something dear to our hearts.”

Laid Back Bohemian Garden Wedding with a Barefoot Bride and a £300 Budget!

Zoe and Perry’s wedding was a minimal budget, maximum happiness kinda day. They created a laid back, fun, bohemian day with loads of cute, cheerful decor that was entirely ‘Zoe and Perry themed’, and overall they only spent about £300 in their own money, with the rest coming from donations and contributions from their pals.

“My inspiration was to create our wedding with what I already had”, Zoe began. “The idea of making something from unsuspecting cheap materials and charity shops was great for us – I do love a project! It was simple, bohemian, unconventional and very us.”

Having originally begun wedding planning five years ago, before Perry was in a bad accident, their perspective on the wedding industry, and getting married, had totally shifted. ‘We know that if we got married when we originally planned to it wouldn’t have been the wedding we wanted and it would have ruined us financially and emotionally. We did lose money cancelling but looking back feel like we gained a good insight into what could have been.”

Minimal Meets Magic & Witchy Wedding

There is so much to love about Roxanne and Andrew’s wedding and although they got married in June, the witchy theme, which included tarot and crystal elements to the decorations, makes it perfect to share at this time of year! One of the things I love the absolute most about this wedding is how paired back and minimal everything is – less is more and all that! This gorgeous celebration proves that you don’t have to go completely overboard with the decor and theme to still have a fantastic looking event.

“We were inspired by our personal aesthetic and interests”, began the bride. They also wanted the day – well, weekend – to be laid back and enjoyable for their guests so they invited their closest friends and relatives stayed at the cabin, where the wedding was held, all weekend.
