Science and History Themed Museum Wedding: David & David

April 1, 2014

David and David met online in 2006. They chatted for a few days and then had their first date at a local tapas restaurant. They both studied at the University of Manchester, so they chose the Museum at the university for their wedding venue. It is an amazing Victorian gothic building, and whilst they didn't really want a 'theme' per-say, there was definitely a scientific and national history thread running throughout the celebration.

Chelsea and Randy eloped and so didn't have professional photographs taken. But they wanted something to remember this special time in their lives so they booked Joan and Jon of BellowBlue Photography for a photo session that completely optimised them. This was not a styled shoot, it took place at their own home, decked out in all it's retro finery. They used their own car that they drive every day. The barber shop is where Randy works.

DIY Tutorial: Glitter Gel Manicure

Kat

March 28, 2014

I’m slightly obsessed with gel manicures. I find nothing more annoying than nail varnish that chips the first time I wear it, so I love that gels last up to 4 weeks and without damaging your nails underneath. However getting them done professionally all the time can be really blooming expensive. After realising what a dent in my bank balance my love affair was having, I decided to see if there was a DIY option. And so I uncovered a brand new obsession.

March 24, 2014

Eric and Kat met in college. They now both work in the video games industry and have a mutual appreciation of all things Japanese - anime and robots in particular! "We share a love of Japanese culture", explained Kat. "We even went to Japan for our honeymoon. We wanted to somehow incorporate our interests and playful personalities into our wedding, but not alienate our guests, as we had a lot of family members attending."

Online Dating: Is Meeting Your Partner Online Still Taboo?

Kat

March 21, 2014

I love a good proposal story. From viral videos of guys doing the most romantic and over the top gestures, right down to hearing that they just decided to get hitched over breakfast in bed one morning. However sometimes, even more than that, I love listening to a couple tell the story of how they first met, especially when they don't agree! "No, you pursued me!", "Whatever, it was you that eventually asked me out!" Although I don't always include it in the real weddings that I feature, I always ask everyone I interview for this blog those two questions. Firstly because it really helps to set up the story of their love, and usually helps to explain why they wanted to do certain things for their wedding, but mostly because I'm just a bit nosy!

Thursday Treats: Camber Sands & Making Plans

Kat

March 20, 2014

I spent a glorious three days in Camber Sands with my friends last week. We laughed, we cried, we took about a squillion photographs, we threw confetti at each other, we ate too much food and we drank waaay too much wine... it really was the most awesome weekend ever. The sun shone, the beach was a two minute walk from our house and I even did some arts and crafts with Ronnie and Craig's kids! I'll be sharing more on Monday because the house we stayed in was so damn cute, y'all definitely need to know about it.

March 20, 2014

Bryan and Brittany live in New York but were married in Oklahoma where most of their friends and family still live. They'd planned a very different wedding originally, wanting an all outdoor affair, but, just five weeks before the big day they realised it just wasn't going to work and they had to find another venue. Panic stations! Luckily, they came across The Womb art gallery, owned by Wayne Coyne, lead singer of The Flaming Lips. They asked him if he'd consider letting them have their wedding there, which he not only agreed to but he came along and partied with them too! Now that, my friends, is pure Rock n Roll.
