2010 Readers Survey Results

Kat

August 23, 2010

I've said this before but I'll say it again, thank you SO MUCH to everyone that took the time to fill in the 2010 Rock n Roll Bride readers survey. As always, I was blown away by your responses and even though some of the things brought up were ideas I'd already thought of and changes I already wanted to make, a lot of new thoughts and criticisms where also expressed. Hard to read sometimes, but necessary! I certainly have a lot of work to be getting on with (well, my poor web-designing husband does!) but rest assured that I will be making some really positive changes to the site as soon as physically possible.

Rock n Roll News – My Crazy Life

Kat

May 24, 2010

First off, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for your support over the last year or so. I know I say it all the time, but I truly am in awe at every single on of you that visits my site, comments, sends me emails of love, send me submissions, sponsors me and generally allows me to live my dream! Because of every single one of you I've been able to go part time at my day job and spend 5 days a week doing what I love. It's amazing and it's all because of you guys. After the initial over-excitement of becoming a full time blogger, I got-to-thinking; hell, what am I going to do next?! How can I make Rock n Roll Bride even better with all this extra time? Well, as with most things in this career of mine, it's all just kind of falling into place. From the very beginning the blog has been very organic and real, and has grown slowly. I hope, in a genuine way. I never started my website to make money and in all honestly, becoming rich is not how I measure my success. As long as I can pay my bills and feed my kittens I'm happy. I didn't start the blog to be the biggest or most popular and I won't be turning Rock n Roll Bride into a money making empire now this is my main income so I hope you'll be pleased to hear! I measure my success on you guys. How many people read what I write and comment on the photographs I post and how and if I make you happy. It sounds soppy and idealistic but seriously, that it. That's me.

Win ♥ A Little Bit of Love – From Me to You

Kat

March 10, 2010

As you all no doubt will have seen by now, I had a very exciting announcement to make yesterday. After over a year of working 2 jobs I've finally got to the stage where I feel I can cut back on my 'proper job' and put more into Rock n Roll Bride. Anyway, as I said before, none of this would be possible without you. Seriously, without you brides (and grooms!) to be, photographers, bloggers, wedding vendors and wedding / pretty picture obsessives reading, submitting and generally loving my little blog, I'd be nothing and Rock n Roll Bride would be no more. So I wanted to give a little something back - LOVE

Go on Then, Ask me Anything…

Kat

January 23, 2010

On a morning on procrastination (or could it have been an evening? I loose track) I decided to give this formspring thing a go. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically a new social networking site (for lack of a better description) where you sign up and randoms (or in my case my lovely readers and fans) can ask me anything! I'm usually aghast at such self indulgence but I've actually really loved answering your burning questions - whether they be about Rock n Roll bride, my personal life (oh yes), the potential of babies (arrgh!), blogging or about having pink hair! I've loved the questions so much in fact that I wanted to share some of my favourites here. If you want to 'Ask Me Anything' then shoot on over to formspring and question away, I will try and answer as many as I can. and if you like I'll do another addition of my favourite questions again soon. So, what do ya wanna know?

2009 – The Year That Was {Part One}

Kat

December 30, 2009

As is customary at this time of year, I wanted to take some time to look back over the last 12 months and share with you some of my most favourite weddings, photo shoots and features. I think you'll be hard pushed to not find something that makes you go 'ooooh' amongstthis lot. Enjoy a-reminiscing! I'll be back tomorrow with part 2 (there's too much to narrow it down to just one post!) I'm also taking this slow blog-time (I like to refer to it as 'Crimbo Limbo' (!) to ponder my ideas and plans for Rock n Roll Bride in 2010. I'll try and share my musings for the year ahead with you soon and would love for you to let me know what you think. It's all about you dear reader after all...

Rubbered & Brightly Coloured

Kat

November 27, 2009

Please forgive me procrastination as I bring to you this random but overtly lovely post all about my favourite prop - the humble balloon! I should be doing some proper writing right now (deadline booo!) but I got all distracted by all this rubbered and brightly coloured goodness whilst on my internet travels today I guess apart from all the prettiness I wanted to show how much variety there is in this darling little prop. I hope I have inspired you for your next balloon based photo shoot. Balloons been done? Pah! There's way more life in these little treasures yet... So..tell me, what are your favourite balloon pictures you've seen recently?

NEWSFLASH!

Kat

November 21, 2009

Stand by for the announcement of the year...Yes I, Kat Williams obsessed with all things blog am taking the weekend OFF! "Holy crap" I hear you cry, "How is such a thing possible?" Well you're right, this will be my first weekend away from the blog since...well...January I reckon. How ridiculous is that? Gareth & I are heading to a family event and whilst I would normally work my fingers to the bone the week before scheduling posts over the weekend so you wouldn't miss me, I've decided that I really could do with a bit of a break and this weekend away to just concentrate on me and Gareth, not worry about moderating comments, replying to emails or checking my twitter. Therefore if you do need to get hold of me you'll just have to wait! Have a good old weekend people. Love you all! But hang on, I couldn't leave you with nothing could I? No no no no....let's hope these keep you busy until I return. Why not also take the time to go through the Rock n Roll Archives? There are 135 pages and 1341 posts of Rock n Roll wedding goodness on my little site. PLUS this weekend is your last chance to get those entries in for the Erica Berger Trash the Dress contest so do so, er..like now. Finalists will be announced on Monday!

How To Blog – Originality & Connections

Kat

August 19, 2009

For a little while now I have had a little nugget of an idea floating around my head, a teeny tiny musing that could turn into something if nurtured. I have been thinking of starting a mini series about ‘How to Blog’. I’d love to be able to share my experiences and hopefully impart some wisdom on others wanting to expand their blogging success. I’m primarily thinking about those who want to blog in order to share other people’s work and inspiration. For this first instalment I want to draw attention to a small part of whole affair that I feel is quite an important one. I am making reference to bloggers and photographers solely because this is what I know and this is the circle I move in, yet I hope the basic idea can be transferred to your own preferred network. Let me know what you think…

Equal Love

Kat

August 2, 2009

Yesterday Equal Love protests took place all over Australia for the 5th year running. Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Hobart and Canberra all hosted events. Their mission is to change public opinion on gay marriage in their country through education and direct action. Yesterday was a landmark event for them, thousands of people showed up to each venue to witness hundreds of gay and lesbian couples commit their lives to each other in technically illegal ceremonies right in front of these cities' courthouses. Photographer Jessie Broome of J Studios attended the Melbourne event and alongside 4000 others, witnessed 65 couples commit their lives to each other. I personally believe this is a wonderful cause and I fully support the rights of gay couples to marry. I would just like to add that this is not a sponsored post of any kind and that have not been paid to write this article. Jessie sent me the link and I knew I'd have to share it with you all. I feel very strongly that prejudice against gay relationships or marriage is fundamentally wrong and hope though my little blog, I can hopefully highlight this fantastic cause to a few more people. Thans to Jessie for sharing the cause with us and for allowing us to use her images from the event. Credit: J Studios

My Turn To Get Blogged

Kat

July 29, 2009

It's great to feature so many wonderfully talented people and their work on my site but it was nice to get a little blog love back today. Go check out Mirror Online, a Swedish online magazine and Always Andri Wedding Design, some UK wedding planners, that both wrote a little something about Rock n Roll Bride today. Mirror Online - Translation What is a Rock ‘n Roll Wedding? If you would like to have a more personal wedding and not one that the rest of the wedding industry recommends, which most often is a really expensive and an already copied concept that you can read about in all different wedding magazines, then be sure to head over to Rock n Roll Bride. To have a rock ‘n roll wedding you do not need to buy the whole parcel, you don’t need to be totally covered in tattoos from top of your head to tip of your toe or play heavy metal music at the altar, you don’t need to be in the darkest forest, but it is ok to have it like that. To have one of these kinds of weddings is to dare a bit and to come up with the idea of what reflects who you together with your partner are. To dare to show your love in your way the rock n roll way. A rock ‘n roll wedding is a wedding where the bride couple chose to make the big day of there life to a day that which strengthen there love in there fantastic way. Gotta love the crude Swedish to English translation, isn't it super cute?
