For a little while now I have had a little nugget of an idea floating around my head, a teeny tiny musing that could turn into something if nurtured. I have been thinking of starting a mini series about ‘How to Blog’. I’d love to be able to share my experiences and hopefully impart some wisdom on others wanting to expand their blogging success. I’m primarily thinking about those who want to blog in order to share other people’s work and inspiration. For this first instalment I want to draw attention to a small part of whole affair that I feel is quite an important one. I am making reference to bloggers and photographers solely because this is what I know and this is the circle I move in, yet I hope the basic idea can be transferred to your own preferred network. Equal Love

Yesterday Equal Love protests took place all over Australia for the 5th year running. Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Hobart and Canberra all hosted events. Their mission is to change public opinion on gay marriage in their country through education and direct action. Yesterday was a landmark event for them, thousands of people showed up to each venue to witness hundreds of gay and lesbian couples commit their lives to each other in technically illegal ceremonies right in front of these cities' courthouses. Photographer Jessie Broome of J Studios attended the Melbourne event and alongside 4000 others, witnessed 65 couples commit their lives to each other. I personally believe this is a wonderful cause and I fully support the rights of gay couples to marry. I would just like to add that this is not a sponsored post of any kind and that have not been paid to write this article. Jessie sent me the link and I knew I'd have to share it with you all. I feel very strongly that prejudice against gay relationships or marriage is fundamentally wrong and hope though my little blog, I can hopefully highlight this fantastic cause to a few more people. It's great to feature so many wonderfully talented people and their work on my site but it was nice to get a little blog love back today. Go check out Mirror Online, a Swedish online magazine and Always Andri Wedding Design, some UK wedding planners, that both wrote a little something about Rock n Roll Bride today. Mirror Online - Translation What is a Rock ‘n Roll Wedding? If you would like to have a more personal wedding and not one that the rest of the wedding industry recommends, which most often is a really expensive and an already copied concept that you can read about in all different wedding magazines, then be sure to head over to Rock n Roll Bride. To have a rock ‘n roll wedding you do not need to buy the whole parcel, you don’t need to be totally covered in tattoos from top of your head to tip of your toe or play heavy metal music at the altar, you don’t need to be in the darkest forest, but it is ok to have it like that. To have one of these kinds of weddings is to dare a bit and to come up with the idea of what reflects who you together with your partner are. To dare to show your love in your way the rock n roll way. A rock ‘n roll wedding is a wedding where the bride couple chose to make the big day of there life to a day that which strengthen there love in there fantastic way. Gotta love the crude Swedish to English translation, isn't it super cute?

I have to apologise that my posting has been a little on the slim side this weekend. I have given myself a rare little rest, spending some time with my hubby and generally being a little bit wifey (we even went to Ikea and I've just bought myself a Holga camera - these things are exciting in my world.) But don't despairdear reader, I will be back with avengence next week and to keep you tied until then, here's a little sneaky peak of what's to come. Until super duper soon...

Before reading this post, it is required that you head over here and have this tune playing in the background... So, you may have noticed a few little tweaks to the Rock n Roll Bride you've come to know and love today (if you're reading this on RSS then come on over and see!) Following the readers survey of a few months ago, I decided the site was in need of a little spring clean and spruce up. I enlisted the help of the very wonderful, ridiculously talented and charming Rhiannon Burton of Under The Cherry Moon. Rhiannon, a graphic designer from London, left her job as a midwife to follow her dream of designing quirky and stylish wedding stationary. Her site is still in the very early stages, but I hope you can see from my header alone how crazy talented she is and how amazingly gorgeous her designs are! I much also give a huge thank you followed by a big sloppy kiss to my hubby who put the whole thing together for me, and put up with my tireless nagging (as only a wife can do) of Is it ready yet...? Is it ready yet...? Is it reeeeady yet...? Also, I am still plowing my way through the re-categorising and tagging of every single post, and with over 1000 under my belt it is taking some while so please bear with me! Be sure to let me know what you think of my site's new outfit!

Been Done? Who Cares?

You know this about me already but I'm a huge activist for being yourself on your wedding day, however crazy, out there or even mundane (oh yes) that may be. As all the veteran readers will know, I ran a contest for free wedding photography a while back, and have now gotten to know our winners pretty well. I was chatting to the Bride to be, Vana, on the phone the other day for no joke, literally an hour about all things wedding (jeez that gal can talk he he!) and I'm sure she won't mind me telling you this, she was running a few of her newest wedding ideas by me to ask my opinion as to whether I thought they had 'been done' (for some reason she thinks I must be some kind of expert on such things…) I said this to her, and on her recommendation I am now going to say this to all of you...do not worry about tack, or about being over the top or if something you really want seems to be springing up everywhere in blog-land, and has therefore ‘been done’. Just remember this teeny tiny pearl of wisdom…Your guests won't have been scoring the Internet looking for wedding ideas for the last year so will have no idea if something has 'been done' or not! To me, our wedding was not completely nuts. We kept it quite simple with a black and white theme and a few personal touches, but we had so many people saying to us it was the most stylish and cool wedding they had ever been too...they hadn't spent the last year looking at other people's weddings and comparing themselves after all! So don't doubt yourself... Are you lusting after that cute Stephanie James Couturedress but are worried that in 10 years time the cute short dress look will look as dated as the poofy sleeved meringues of the 80’s? Pah, if I got married in the 80’s I would have wanted to remember the 80’s…2008 was the greatest year of my life and I want to remember that year through my wedding pictures. Have you have been dying to have cupcakes as your wedding cake ever since you started planning your wedding, but are worried because now everybodyseems to be doing it? Well a lot of people that are getting married may be yes, but everybody in the entire world?...erm no. Are you worried that your wedding isn’t cool enough because you spend all day looking at weddings that seen so much crazier/chicer than yours? (You are not alone by the way, I felt the exact same thing) You are more likely to regret planning a wedding in a style that wasn’t really ‘you’ than one that perfectly matches you and your fiancé’s tastes. So quit stressing about what other people will think and just do it already...and then send me the photographs afterwards! Now for a couple of trends I love and therefore don't care if they've 'been done'. Let me know if I've missed any of your favourites!

A Slow Slow Day

The weekends are slow internet days...it's almost like everybodyhas better things to do than spend their days off looking at pretty things online! Unfortunately for me I don't get the weekends off so still spend lonely hours online scouring the web for some weddingy gorgeousness to share with you all.
