Anna and Jack wanted a fun wedding with a party atmosphere. So they hired their venue, Inshriach House, for the entire week, and stayed there in the run up with some of their guests. "We wanted the wedding to be a big fun party with as many of our nearest and dearest as possible", Anna said. "We wanted our personalities and sense of humour to shine through. We wanted to get to married in the highlands, near my hometown of Kingussie and we felt the best way to do this was to organise most things ourselves and to have equal input and responsibility."

I'm totally biased of course, but blue hair is sooo the best hair colour ever. Since I've gone over to the blue side I can't imagine ever wanting a different colour, it just makes me so happy! So, obviously, Samantha's gorgeous cerulean tresses instantly caught my eye. But then I saw the rest of the wedding and I knew you'd love it too! Any Game of Thrones fans out there?

Lacey and Josh didn't want to have a stressful time planning their wedding. Initially they wanted to elope, but instead decided to have a wedding that was relaxed and intimate, and that truly reflected them as a couple. "We wanted our wedding to be about us and the commitment we were making to one another", began Lacey. "We didn't want all of the added fluff that comes with the most traditional weddings. Instead we focused on having a very small, intimate (but still awesome!) celebration with our closest friends and family."

Jessika and Brett's October wedding had a small budget, but that didn't hold them back! They were married in their local park and had their reception in the bride's father's back garden. Both these things saved them a lot of money and meant they could transform the spaces to fit the rainbow wedding of their dreams!

Lauren and JP's Glasgow wedding was based on their mutual love of Scotland and literature. "Our inspiration was really just stuff we like", Lauren wrote. "Medieval mixed with Scottish mixed with books mixed with 50s mixed with tattoos mixed with pumpkins! It was lucky that our mish-mash just worked in the space together! There’s nothing like that moment when you see your vision for the day come together so well."

John and Lucy were married at Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire in September. They chose it because it had the pretty outside space that they wanted, and they were able to say their vows outside (which isn't always possible in the UK!) in their covered pavilion. "We are both artists, I paint and John is a photographer, and we are both deeply inspired by nature", said Lucy. "I am also borderline obsessed with the vision of an enchanted forest so we wanted our wedding to feel like a blurry childhood memory of a place that was so beautiful and fantastical that you're not sure whether it was real or not. We fell in love with Larmer Tree Gardens the minute we clapped eyes on it. There were peacocks and parrots roaming around so we used a loose theme based on the colours of the peacocks plumage by having the boys in teal and the girls in royal blue."

I've done it for the past three years, but I'd like to do things a little differently this time. While I am going to kick off the proceedings by sharing my fave real weddings right now, next week we'll also be revisiting some other things that have been published. We'll be reminiscing over some of my (and your!) favourite styled shoots, revisiting a plethora of business articles and looking back over the meatier wedding advice-type posts. Maybe some of these things you've seem before, but some might have slipped you by the first time. Or maybe you're a brand new reader? Sam and Sarah were married at Hornington Manor Farm, York in August. They hired their venue for five whole days so they could have a week-long celebration with their loved ones. "From the moment Sam asked me to marry her we were adamant that we wanted a really personalised wedding which was about us as a couple", began Sarah. "We wanted to do all the food, drink and decoration ourselves and to involve our closest family and friends in all of the preparations. We wanted our guests to feel like they were coming to our house for our wedding which we were able to do as we rented the house for five days. A summer fete theme emerged as we planned lots of activities for people to do during the day."

Luke and Emeline were married at Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe, Devon. Their unconventional wedding was quintessentially 'them', from the bride's pink hair, the Japanese and video game theme and the groomsmen carrying weaponry! "I'd describe our theme as a Japanese culture based experience", explained the groom. "Video games, action adventure, samurai's and of course a manga styled bride with pink hair."

Pearce and Angela love all things vintage and retro, so their 1950s wedding theme came easily to them. They wanted a theme that their guests could be a part of (with fancy dress!). The celebration was held at Craig Y Nos Castle near Brecon Beacons in South Wales. "We loved the venue because it was quirky, wonky and theatrical so it suited us down to the ground", Angela said. "It was once owned by a very famous opera singer, Madam Patte, in the 19th century, who used to throw lavish parties and entertain the great and good back in the day. It was actually completely different to what we initially had in mind for a venue, but when we walked in we just knew it was perfect!"

Ben and Helen had a casual wedding in Tooting. "We wanted to throw a wedding for our families as much as for us, to celebrate life and love and enjoy a special day together", Helen said. "It was important to us to celebrate all the years we’d already had together (and all the ups and downs, joy, growing up and hard work in that!) rather than acting as if the wedding was the start. So that was part of the message on our invitations, and we got the Registrar to frame the ceremony that way in her welcome – a celebration of 8 and a half happy years and the witnessing of our next step together."
