Bridal Shoot/Trash The Dress

Ruffled

Kat

October 28, 2009

You lucky lucky things, I have a couple of ridiculously gorgeous ruffled dresses to share with you today, starting with this yellow beauty. Photographer Apryl deemed Rock n Roll Bride worthy of being the first blog to share her work...like, ever. How awesome is that? Oh...and how awesome are these?! The dress, a Clifton Wilhite original found at Junkadoodle was a bit of a mess when they found it, however Apryl and her team, including Katie (who played model for the day) & Sally from Revolution Gardenwho supplied the masquerade masks cleaned it up and rocked out to get these amazing shots. Truly inspiring! Thanks to Apryl for sharing these. I can not wait to see more from you in future!

Grand & Unusual

Kat

October 26, 2009

Happy Monday my lovelies. Being away from my computer for 2 days means I have a hell of a lot of stuff to now catch up on (good for you!) including announcing the finalists for the Love Me Do Photography contest - check back later today to check them out and vote for your favourites to win! Starting off the week in style is this stunning red haired bride. The shoot took place in a funeral home of all places (her father works there) but the setting certainly made for a rather grand and unusual backdrop. Yummy indeed. Thanks to Maria for shipping these over to me. Love love love... Credit: Squaresville Studios

Slurpee Bride

Kat

October 17, 2009

Is it just me or doe s Rachel look a lot like the gorgeous Anna Friel?! Off topic slightly but I just had to thrown that out there. The idea for this shoot came from the bride herself. She had always been a huge fan of Tori Amos and so told photographer Duston Todd that around the time that her idol got married, and in reference to her song 'Jackie's Strength', she was quoted to have said "There’s one side of me that could very easily have ended up at the 7-Eleven sitting outside drinking a Slurpee in my wedding dress and just missing the whole thing. And then there’s the other one that did make it to the church. So, this song is about the one that drank the Slurpee. She’s still out there somewhere.” So that's what they did - they shot outside a 7-Eleven with a slurpee. Cute and elegant all at the same time. Thanks to Duston for sending these over. Le swoon. A Model Shoot

Kat

September 9, 2009

This is yet another shoot I have been dying to share for ages. Rock n Roll Bride fave, Trigger Happy Tara showed me a sneak peak of these a few weeks ago and me being as impatient as ever I have literally been chomping at the bit to get these up for you all! This shoot was actually part of a mass shoot-out, an event where a bunch of local photographers (in this case Jacksonville) get together to shoot some models and exchange tips and tricks. I love this model and Tara's interpretation of the scene so much because she has given what could have been such a traditional shoot a completely offbeat and rock n roll twist! The Model's dress was Alvina Valenta (style #9700) and her veil was by Lori London (style #VM95). Kudos to Tara. Love these! Credit: Trigger Happy Tara

Avant-Garde

Kat

September 3, 2009

Texan born, UK based photographer Tami Curtis has a style like no one else I've seen. The techniques used give each image a distressed feel like they literally are images from the 1920's but with a real avant-garde feel. This style of photography wouldn't be everyone's choice for their wedding album but it's a style I can't help but be drawn to. Be sure to take the time to check out Tami's blog, Pulp Fiction, for more vintage gorgeousness! Thanks to Tami for sending me Eve's gorgeous bridal session Credit: Tami Curtis/Jane's Attic

The Tiny Bride

Kat

August 30, 2009

I literally adore photographer Sarah Pukin's way of wording these images. I really can not compete. Enjoy this and enjoy these gorgeous images! The Tiny Bride. Once upon a time there was a girl who met a boy. The boy was in a band - when he saw the girl his heart grew and he knew she was the one. The girl gazed up at him and thought “could this be love at first sight?” As the boy came closer the girl reached her hand out - as he grabbed it they both knew that they were soul mates. They fell deeply in love. As time passed the boy and the girl got married and here are a few pages of their story. Thanks Sarah. You rock! Credit: Sarah Pukin Photography

Thrift Store Find

Kat

August 25, 2009

A few months ago, photographer Jennifer Williams' sister found this gorgeous vintage dress in a thrift store for $10. Being the helpful sibling that she is, she knew it would be perfect for a photoshoot and so bought it right away. Jen wnt on to tell me the whole story: The minute I saw it I couldn't wait to plan a shoot centered around it! I couldn't get those old images of Bonnie and Clyde out of my head from the old 1967 movie. Most of my inspiration was centered around that, although I mixed and matched decades into my own take on vintage fashion. Then I found out we had permission to shoot at this salvage yard and the shoot became this beautiful classy take on grunge. As weird as it sounds, that is the best way I can describe it. Vintage Vegas

Kat

August 18, 2009

I've never been to Vegas and I'm not all together convinced I'd like the craziness, but when I see images like these I know it can't be just one big city of sin. According to photographer Maria Mack, Las Vegas doesn't have to be all bright lights, strippers, gambling and bachelor parties. These beautiful, retro shots show Vegas in a much softer light, - one with cute heart signs and quirky vintage touches. Oh yes, this is a Vegas I could get on board with... Thanks to Maria for showing me the diversity of a Las Vegas photo shoot!

Cherish.

August 16, 2009

Happy snoozy Sunday to you all! I have a distinct lack of a day filled with snooze myself as I plan to share some gorgeous and rockin' trash the dress sessions with you (and knowing me probably more!) I'm going to start with the hot shoot sent in by the very lovely Jeffery Chan of I Cherish You, a photographer from Toronto. The location of the shoot is pretty awesome huh? The shoot took place in the abandoned Kodak building which is now apparantly a very popular shoot zone for local photographers. Thanks to Jeffery for sharing these with me! Credit: I Cherish You

Multi-Coloured Tresses

Kat

August 12, 2009

My life as a blogger is a pretty damn busy one. I'm not just saying this for effect, but I get sent so much amazing stuff to post everyday that I almost can't keep up! The next post of this early Wednesday morning ( have no clue why I'm up so early, I even drank a whole bottle of wine last night) belongs to one of my brand spanking new sponsors, Stacy Able. As soon as I saw this set I knew she not only had to send it to me for posting but she had to make it the image for her new sponsor link. The multicoloured tresses, the splattered paint, the cute dog...oh yeah baby my sponsors are the bestest. Credit: Stacy Able
