Wow, hello beautiful people! Lydia & Zonte may well be one of the coolest couples I've seen in ages. Lydia is South Korean (and must be a model I swear!) and Zonte is a dancer. They live in Kansas City, Missouri but are getting married in South Korea on August 7th. I seriously can't wait to see this wedding - if these engagement shots are anything to go by it's going to be one cool ass wedding! Do I have the coolest readers or WHAT!?!?! (be sure to also check out Zonte dancing in the awesome/cute/funny little video after the 'jump'.)Read more...

I love a good promotional photo shoot (we all know that don't we!) I think they are not only really good fun, but really amazing tools to showcase what you really can do - and therefore hopefully get the clients that you want. Ohio photographer Nikita Gross decided to set up this shoot to show the world what she loves to shoot - kick ass, alternative couples of course! The 'bride' Ashley, who owns Pinnokios Salon in Northside, did her own hair and makeup. . She and her 'groom' Jeremy raided their own closets for these vintage and one-off pieces and the results are just so fun and eclectic. Jeremy's American Apparel boots and vintage jacket are particularly sexy! I love.Read more...

Olivia & Mark's pretty and quirky London engagement session makes my heart sing! The pair actually said that they found the Primrose Hill location (where they live) a little twee so their photographer Lisa made a real effort to find some none puke-worthy spots including a cool graffiti wall ( "I was a bit 'been-there-done-that' until I saw it, if graffiti could ever be vintage, this might be it. Mostly heart themed with a chalky quality, I LIKE!" Lisa explained) a Banksy mural, the front door of Gwen (Stefani) & Gavin and Jamie (Oliver) & Jules' houses (shh!) the canal and the top of the hill.Read more...

"I thought you might like Sophie & Jonny's engagement shoot" Marianne Taylor wrote, "as there is pinkness and tattoos involved." Well looks like she was right! Oh yes I do like. The shoot took place in Green Park and Marylebone, London. The couple are getting married in September in a 1950's, burlesque and black & white bash and I'm pretty sure I'm going to love that too. I can't wait to feature it already!Read more...

Sean & Nicola love the great outdoors so that's exactly where they headed for their engagement shoot. A local country park provided the perfect setting for this sweet, fun and romantic photo shoot. Afterwards the couple got dressed up and headed back to the city for some hilarious photo booth style shots - these are my favourites!Read more...

Simple, sweet, tattooed lovelies. I am crazy in love with the pink bike (erm...of course) the vintage records (another trend I'm not yet tired of) and the lake side setting. That water looks incredible and it goes without saying that Rennie & Joe are one hell of a cool couple. LOVE!Read more...

Marquina & Dan's New York engagement session is the perfect reflection of them. I knee as soon as I read the discription by photography Casey that I would love them. "Marquina is very much the 'rock n roll' bride - she is a dancer and model but more importantly, she competes in air guitar competitions! Dan is the stable center (straight laced architect) that Marquina is in constant motion around. For their engagement session they wanted to go to some of the places that meant a lot to them."Read more...

I usually only put one post up on a Saturday, but I have to admit that I wanted to share this engagement shoot as soon as I could...and plus, the submissions have been coming in at such a rate of knots since I posted my How to... Get Your Wedding Featured on a Blog post (which I'm not complaining about of course!) but I do feel like I have a lot to get through this week! Alister & Rachel are having a gothic & diy wedding on a mountain vineyard in a few weeks. The wedding is sure to be super detail-heavy and I can't wait to share it! However their engagement session was actual quite impromptu. "They wanted a Gothic yet bibliophile theme with a twist for the main part of the shoot, hence the books, vinyl and rug. Then for the rest of it, we simply found some killer locations and let them do their own thing; smiling, laughing, whatever went!" photographer Julian told me.Read more...

I've always loved laundrette photo sessions so when Brighton photographer Joanna Brown sent me this set I couldn't wait to share it... "I have been living in quirky Kemptown in Brighton for some time and have always had my eye on the Laundrette round the corner thinking it would be perfect location for a shoot" Joanna told me. "I have always thought that there is something quite lovely and romantic about laundrettes; the sound of the machines quietly whirling that combined with complete strangers just hanging out sharing a really mundane chore. So I have been patiently waiting for my opportunity to arrive and hey presto a lovely couple got in touch and I could not quite believe it. Laura and Rikki met whilst studying at Bath University and had seen each other around the campus; at the bar, in the library and also spied each other at the local laundrette; after sometime Rikki finally asked Laura out and the rest is history. They are simply an adorable couple who have a great sense of humour, Rikki even took Laura on one of their first dates to a Laundrette (how romantic). We had a hoot at the Laundrette (I think some of the regulars thought we were balmy) especially when Laura lay on the floor for one of the shots; hey it is Brighton though anything goes!"Read more...

I've got a second picnic-themed engagement session to share with you today, however you'll forgive my repetition when you see these bad boys. Cupcakes + tattoos + bicycles + bunting + everything awesome you could want in one session = LOVE! Candace & Tyler are way.too.awesome. he even calls her 'Cupcake' AND she has the word tattooed on this inside of her fingers. Oh swoon swoon swoon... I can't wait to see/blog their wedding. I might die with anticipation.Read more...

Maura & John's slightly damp, slightly vintage and more than slightly gorgeous engagement session is totally inspiring! I love how they incorporated the things they love into the shoot - they collect old schwinn bikes, love going for bike rides and are crazy about all things vintage/retro/antique so they used some antique china for a mini picnic setting. Christy & Daryl's engagement session has such a dramatic and cinematic feel that I couldn't help but fall in love with it. As well as my crazy obsession with all things wedding and photography, I have a bit of a penchant for the over-dramatic, in particular the film noir style, and this session reflects that to a 't'...yet with fabulous a modern twist! Those shadows are like nothing I've ever seen! "We set off one night with my good friend (and amazingly talented photographer) Edison Miclat, to find a nitty gritty location" Christy told me. "A factory / industrial park by the rail road tracks made a perfect back drop for our photo adventure. The night started with us creeping around an ivy covered building, and ended with dancing in a stinky ole meat delivery truck! The shoot was hilarious and so much fun. I've always loved Edison's mellow demeanor and his ability to produce cinematic, natural images. I am absolutely in love with the results."Read more...

Shalma & Leo were lucky enough to find their photographer David through a feature on Rock n Roll Bride so as soon as the excited bride emailed me to tell me that they'd chosen David I was already looking forward to seeing what he would come up with for their engagement session. Over the past few years David has truly become the one to watch when it comes to his pre-wedding shoots. He's always pushing the boundaries and never fails to impress with his unique eye for detail. Shalma & Leo wanted to go for a film noir, classic film and super stylised shoot and in an unusual departure from his usual hyper colourful style, David decided process this entire shoot into black & white to fit in perfectly with this theme. "This couple are into their photography big time" David said "but they’re also in their classic films and wanted to have a pre-wedding shoot that referenced one of their favourites, A Bout De Souffle. This was a french film where the characters mostly smoke and drink coffee a lot - so we tried to recreate the streets of Paris in Richmond!"Read more...

Emma Case is my home-girl. I love her. She is a massive (and I mean crazy massive, like totally obsessed) fan of Featherlove Photography so when she found out that Noa was over in London in April, she jumped at the chance to do an engagement shoot with her fiance Pete. As soon as Emma told me of her plans I immediately 'bagsied' the images for featuring as I knew, even without seeing a single frame or knowing the premise of the shoot that they would be awesome...and boy how right I was! I asked Emma this morning if there was anything she wanted me to add to this post and she simply replied "The only thing I would like to add is a big fat thank you to Pete. I cannot begin to explain how supportive he has been over the past six months. I love him with all my heart and he's so friggin' hot in these pictures it's unreal!!" So much cuteness. Now hurry up and get married you guys. I'm waiting for my invite in the post damnit!Read more...

Karen & Aaron's beautiful engagement session was captured by the amazing Kelty of Steep Street Photography . The trio walked around their neighbourhood with their dogs as they wanted to capture a naturalistic and authentic vibe. Aaron's tattoos and Karen's cute red polka-dotty/floral dress are super beautiful too and I just can't get enough of that light!Read more...

Erik & Chelsea have a love of antique-y things: of books, of vintage treats and of the 80's! "We set out to showcase Erik's passion for cooking & Chelsea's English degree while creating a stylish, quirky- retro-y look" photographers Leslie & Ryan told me. "I must say we were also lucky enough to have full access to Renaissance Antiques, Chelsea's mother's lovely vintage shop! We found the lovely vintage hats there, the old tattered books, even Erik's ties."Read more...

It's such an honour that someone would send me a session to post only the day after they shot it! Photographer Ben Godkin was so convinced that Mandy & Braxton's engagement session was perfect for Rock n Roll Bride that he didn't hesitate to email me some images - even before the whole set was complete! "The couple , who are fierce backgammon players, were so fun and wanted to get some unique shots for their engagement photos! Ben wrote. "They were staying at a cozy little Bed and Breakfast called Settlers Crossing in Fredericksburg to finalize the details of their small wedding at Beckers wine vineyard in Sept. Mandy and Braxton had many tattoos but two that were particularly meaningful. They both had "Soul Mates" tattooed on both hands so when they joined hands they would always be reminded of their love. There was an abundance of farm animals on the property including horses, sheep, and donkeys, so we couldn't resist using them in the shoot. Then we headed to a local land mark called Enchanted Rock and made the 20min hike up just in time to watch the sunset, and the full moon rise... It was magical!"Read more...

Carley & Graham wanted a vintage theme for their engagement session. Now I know we hear the term 'vintage' thrown all over blog-land like it's going out of fashion, but I really do love the feel to these (note: if anyone can think of another word to describe 'vintage' please let me know - I'm kinda getting sick of writing it!) But anyway, that's besides the point - Carley & Graham's session does have a beautifully authentic vintage aesthetic to it...and for that I love it! Carley put so much heart and soul into their shoot and she brought along a whole bunch of creative things to incorporate. Touches like her and Graham’s vintage-style bikes (so COOL!) and her favourite camera that she got at a second hand store for only $15! Both Carley and Graham also put alot of thought into their outfits which really added to the over all vibe of the session and made it even more perfectly...well...vintage.Read more...
