Sally and Jacques were legally married in September 2014, however they wanted to have a casual beach wedding so had a non-legal blessing with their family and friends there in January of this year. "We did not want to have a long boring ceremony", said the bride. "We've both been so so many weddings with long boring sermons and we didn't want that for our own."Read more...

A power cut the morning of the wedding might be most couple's worst nightmare, but Tyler and Jodi embraced it! The wedding was held at a private beach house in Malibu and the lack of power actually made their wedding even more special. Sure, they they had to get a bit creative with some aspects, such as the bride having to air-dry her hair, serving a BBQ for the meal and having no entertainment or music, but it really worked out so well! They even had candles and sparklers at the table which looked amazing!Read more...

Luke and Emeline were married at Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe, Devon. Their unconventional wedding was quintessentially 'them', from the bride's pink hair, the Japanese and video game theme and the groomsmen carrying weaponry! "I'd describe our theme as a Japanese culture based experience", explained the groom. "Video games, action adventure, samurai's and of course a manga styled bride with pink hair."Read more...

I'm not gonna lie, I've been looking forward to featuring Anna and Adam's wedding for a while. Anna is a wedding photographer herself, and I'm a big fan of her work, so I knew her own wedding would be something special. The wedding was 100% DIY. They picked a venue that wasn't specifically for weddings, but meant a great deal for them. They didn't want to spend a lot of money, so did most things as frugally as possible. Their main concern was that the day involved all the special people in their lives. The wedding took place by the sea in Anglesey in May. "We didn't have a wedding theme as such", began Anna, "we just wanted it to be colourful, relaxed, fun, full of laughs, unpretentious, family-focused and very much DIY and personalised to us and the people and things we love. We wanted everyone there to feel special and comfortable and get involved as much as they wanted to. Lots of weddings focus just on the bride and groom, but to us it was also very much a day about our wonderful group of friends and family. We’re both incredibly close to them and it was really important to us to celebrate the fact that we weren't just coming together as a couple, but also as part of a precious larger community."Read more...

Santorini is - by far - one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. So when Shannon and Joss' wedding landed in my inbox I didn't hesitate to say "Yes, I want to feature it!" They had their ceremony on a terrace at Marizan Caves in Oia, a reception dinner at Katharos Lounge on Katharos Beach. The following day they had sunset boat cruise around the Aegean sea.Read more...

When wedding photographer Matt Miller emailed me to tell me he'd shot the wedding of Winston McCall, lead singer of Australian metalcore band Parkway Drive, and asking if I'd like to feature it, I nearly fell off my chair. "Er... stupid question!" I replied, "OF COURSE!" He married his high school sweetheart, Jessica, in beautiful Byron Bay on May 11th this year.Read more...

Sharon and Matt's small Belize wedding at Honey Camp Ranch cost them just $5000. They avoided the usual trappings of a traditional wedding, instead choosing to do things their way. That meant everything was either borrowed, donated or homemade. The bride wore a custom wedding dress, made for her by her mother, and no shoes! She made the stationery herself and the flowers and reception decorations were collected from the local area.Read more...

Bianca and Richard's wedding was held on Big Bay Beach in Cape Town. This was very definitely a family affair with the bride's mother making the stationery and helping Bianca fold all those paper origami flowers, and both her parents helping with the catering. Most of the reception décor was borrowed from people they knew or bought cheaply in China Town.Read more...
