It's no secret that Rock n Roll brides love short, 1950s style prom wedding dresses. In fact I often think it is probably the style I'd wear if I was getting married again. Not only are they super duper flattering to nearly every body shape, but the short style gives some much needed sass to a wedding day ensemble! When my friends at True Bride, who have just launched a fifties-inspired range, got in touch to ask if I'd like to give away one of the dresses from their brand new Brighton Belle collection, after sobbing a little that I couldn't be the one to win it, I jumped at the chance!

Emily and Glenn were married at the bride's childhood home. She wore her grandmother's wedding dress and they wanted to make sure everything they did minimised waste. "Our wedding inspiration was to use second-hand, borrowed, vintage and thrift store finds", Emily explained, "We really focused on re-purposing things for the day. This meant incorporating vintage furniture as seating and using items my father had collected over the last 30 years as décor. Everything was DIY but since we did not want to buy anything new we stayed away from crafting and mostly decorated with old lanterns and vintage furniture. We also borrowed a lot of stuff from friends and family so that we didn't have to buy brand new things."

Too often, couples begin planning with a set of assumptions that sound convenient but don’t hold up in reality. As a wedding planner who has designed backyard celebrations for high-end clients, I want to set the record straight.

Sarah and Spencer wanted their wedding to feel like an extension of their home, their shared obsessions, and the places that shaped their relationship. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art became their ceremony venue, not just because it is an iconic space in Fort Worth, but because Sarah’s own story as an artist is tied to it. In 2019 she held a Carter Community Artist Residency there, a project that shifted her career and cemented her love for bringing art into public spaces. To marry there was less about grandeur and more about circling back to a place that had given her so much.

She wasn’t even supposed to be in the shop that day, but the studio owner whistled her over to introduce her to his friend. Ten minutes of small talk, Sheep walked out and asked for her Instagram. Liz remembers prancing around the studio after he messaged, while the owner called it: “Y’all are either going to have one date and never see each other again or you’re gonna get married, I’m calling it.” I guess they were right!

Spooky weddings don’t just belong at Halloween. Karina and Jeff proved it with a gothic summerween slasher celebration in the middle of Arnos Vale Cemetery this June. The choice of venue raised eyebrows. Some people called it "kooky", but for Karina it was personal. She used to go there to read during a hard time in her life and later discovered her great-grandparents were buried there. “Even though I never met them it made me feel more connected to the place and its beauty,” she told us. They also had a hearse limo for the day instead of a normal car, "I really felt like Morticia Addams!" she said.
