Laurence & Gi's low-key and informal wedding had me smitten as soon as I laid eyes on those flower head garlands! To me, they totally sum up what I adore about this wedding - leaving your stresses behind you, having fun and creating something personal and beautiful. They had a very small wedding with only a few guests and the really put their all into creating something wonderful. "I didn't have a focused inspiration in mind to be honest, but I did have a clear vision on how I envisaged the vibe of the wedding, so I wrote down in my notebook 'Young, Easy, Relaxed with a little bit of Attitude!'" explained Gi. Last week I was invited by the BBC to visit BBC Radio Berkshire to be interviewed by Anne Diamond on her radio show! Hi Kat, My name is Sara and I just found your website. Wow I was so relieved I wasn't the only one who hated the idea of a cookie cutter poofy foofy wedding! Amazing site! I have always dreamed of a 50's style tea length wedding dress. I found one I love on unique vintage thanks to you, but here's my problem. I'm plus sized. Like say a size 26 plus sized. I've been really ill for the last year and between taking care of my Mom (she had a stroke on my sixteenth birthday) and my illness, weight loss has been on the back burner. I'm set to be married November 5th of this year. I'm on a tight budget, but I just can't stand the idea of not having a wedding dress. Please please help me find one!Read more...

Ant & Lou were married in Chianti, Italy but had a massive reception party at The Kazimier nightclub in Liverpool on their return. "We wanted to get married abroad and bring with us all of the people we love dearly," Lou told me. " It was important to both of us to have our friends and family there, but to also have a very personal wedding, something that was exactly us. We found a beautiful castle in Chianti, Italy and started our wedding process from there. Everyone came on different flights at different times on different days and even though there was an ash cloud, an unexploded WW2 bomb found in Pisa airport and severe winds causing planes to be diverted, everyone got there eventually. One group of friends were travelling for 26 hours just to get from Liverpool to Tuscany! but they made it and their positivity was beautiful."Read more...

Some of the more eagle-eyed of you might recognise Kelly & Charly from their awesome vintage and Rock n Roll-inspired wedding that I featured back in February or Kelly's beautiful bridal shoot which went up back in November. Well they are back and just as beautiful as ever! For their anniversary the couple wanted to mark the occasion with another photo shoot with their wedding photographer Juliane Berry. The shoot was held in Rancho Park and The Original Farmers Market in Los Angeles and had a super stylish and vintage vibe. They had two vintage cars (a 1927 Ford Model T and a 1932 Ford Phaeton) as well as various props and loveliness including sugar skulls that the couple had bought in Mexico.Read more...
The Jasmine Star London Workshop – A Review

A few months ago I approached wedding photographer Jasmine Star to ask if she'd be at all interested in coming to London to teach a workshop for photographers and if so could I help her to organise it. My motives were entirely selfish. She has inspired me and the way I run my business ever since I was first introduced to her by a friend... and I wanted to meet her! At the beginning of the year I set myself three goals. One of them was to meet Jasmine Star. I've learnt that nothing ever falls in your lap, and with her being based in Orange County and me (just outside of) London, it was unlikely I was ever just going to 'bump into her.' So I decided that if I wanted it to happen I better bloomin' well try and do something about it. Jasmine and I have spoken over email a few times in the past, but to try to persuade her to fly half way across the world to a country she's never been to...was I thinking too big?Read more...

To say that choosing the next Rock n Roll Bride real-bride intern was difficult would be an understatement of immense magnitude. When I posted two weeks ago that I was looking for a new 'Alice' to come and write her wedding planning story for us I expected to receive maybe 10/15 entries...67 applications later and my brain is a little fried from trying to pick the one which I think will have the most interesting story for the blog. So, I'm being a wimp and hoping you, the loyal readers of this 'lil blog will come to my aid and help me! After all, I want you to be inspired by the stories you'll be reading. Inspired by Gala, I've decided that a weekly list of things I'm grateful for each week will potentially help me to realise how lucky I am. Sometimes life's stresses can get in the way and we forget to stop and smell the roses. I'd encourage you to do the same. I'm planning on keeping a notebook with me at all times to jot down the small things that make me smile (and that might otherwise pass me by.) A Crafty & Fish-Themed Wedding on the Banks of Loch Fyne: Claire & Doug

Unlike in England, in Scotland you can legally be married in an outside ceremony. The photos of this part of Claire & Doug's day in particular made me fall in love with this wedding. The celebrations were held at Inver Cottage Restaurant on the banks of Loch Fyne. Claire explains, "We went on our first family holiday to Strachur last year and when we stumbled upon Inver Cottage Restaurant on the banks of Loch Fyne we fell in love with it. We love all things seafood. It was during this holiday with our 9 month old daughter, Maggie, that Doug proposed. Directly across from Inver Cottage at the ruins of the old castle Lauchlan. The only place for our wedding ceremony was at Inver Cottage. We both hated the idea of a formal wedding but wanted to share the day with close family and friends and do it in a personal and well thought out way."Read more...

Sierra & Jake met while in the music store where Jake worked, "I shopped at the music store he worked at for a long time," laughed the bride. "I had the biggest crush but was way too shy to talk to him much. I always thought, "I want to end up with a guy just like him!" but certainly this one was out of my league. One day I was pretending to be interested in harmonicas, of all things, to get his "assistance" and he told me casually that he was joining the Marine corps. I panicked! I was running out of time to scoop up my dream man so I had to act fast. A few days later I finally got the nerve to ask him out. I decided for sure on that first date that he was the one for me. Heather & Wil's crafty wedding was held at a friend's house, which just happened to be an ex-church and was big enough to house all their guests as well as looking quite impressive. They kept things simple, didn't have a bridal party and kept everyone fed and happy with a good old fashioned BBQ! "We did everything just how we wanted it," explained the bride. "We walked down the aisle together, didn't have a bridal party, only invited 35 people and were very happy with the results.
