Thursday Treats: Rainbow Magic!

Rainbow Rock n Roll Bride

I was so excited to speak at Cosmopolitan’s Superblogger’s Masterclass on Monday, especially as Gareth and Lisa were coming along too. It’s so much more fun when you rock up with an entourage! I jest of course, but Lisa did bring her camera with her and before jumping onto the stage we had a play with coloured gels and in-camera double exposures.

Aren’t these so fun?

The event was amazing. The 200 strong audience were friendly and excitable, and any nerves I had went away as soon as I saw their happy, beaming faces in front of me. I even managed to get a few laughs which in my book means a job well done! Meeting so many of them afterwards and hearing about their plans and ideas is so inspiring !

It was such a fun way to spend a Monday evening. You can read a little more about what went on over at Cosmo’s blog.

In other news, don’t forget about my first (eeek!) solo livestream which I’m doing on Sunday afternoon! From 4pm GMT I’ll be tackling as many wedding planning questions as possible. Be sure to RSVP to the event beforehand and if you want you can submit your questions ahead of time too. Just hit the Q&A button.

I (nervously) can’t wait!

Thursday Treats: Canada, Britmums & Cosmo!

oprisco

It’s so good to be home! Of course I’ve come back to a messy house, a terrifyingly long to do list, and a huge pile of dirty laundry, but it feels GOOD. My trip to Canada was amazing, we had a blast, but is sure is nice to be back in familiar surroundings. AND THOSE KITTIES OF MINE, oh I swear they got even more gorgeous while I was away.

Before we move on I just have to show you the silliness that we got up to in Vancouver and Calgary. From games of Jenga over dinner, to dancing on the rainbow crosswalk and making new doggie best friends, Canada sure did show us a damn good time.

Aww! I always miss Gala and Shauna so much when we’re ripped apart. I don’t have very long to wait to see them again though because our next Blogcademy workshops are in Europe! We’re doing two classes in London in July, one in Berlin and another in Amsterdam! AND, don’t forget, we have our mixer event in London on July 24th. I’d love to see you there!

Wait a sec, still have some more to share with you (goodness, it never ends!) I’ll be at BritMums this weekend speaking about working with Etsy. Collaborating with them is something I’ve only recently started to do, but it’s been going so well. I’ll be speaking about exactly what it entails, sharing how it’s increased my income and letting you in on some ways that you can do the same. My slot is on Saturday at 11.30am.

If you’re not a mummy blogger and Britmums doesn’t appeal to you (yes, I find it weirdly ironic that I’ve been asked to speak there too!), then I’m also going to be on the panel at the Cosmopolitan Superblogger Masterclass on Monday June 23rd. Tickets are just £30 and a little birdy tells me there are a few still available. I spoke at the Masterclass last year too and it was one of my 2013 highlights. It’s such a fun event and I can’t wait to do it again!

Thursday Treats: Va-Va-Vancouver!

vancouver diane and mike

Diane + Mike Photography

Greetings from Vancouver! Although this trip has been reasonably laid back in comparison to some (we’ve actually had a couple of day’s off which has been a rare treat!) we’ve still managed to really pack it in.

On Friday we had dinner with the amazing Danielle LaPorte, who I’ve admired for years. It really was one of those evenings that you never want to end! We taught our workshop all weekend and on Monday we were pampered within an inch of our lives by My Sugarbox. We all had microdermabrasion treatments, eyebrow waxes and gel nails done. As a pre-wedding pamper, you need to consider getting a microdermabrasion facial. My skin has felt AMAZING and looked like brand spanking new ever since! In fact I’m pretty sure I’m going to add monthly sessions to my skincare routine when I get home.

On Tuesday we did our livestream and had some serious fun that evening at the rainbow crosswalk (!!) and jumping on the bed while throwing silver star confetti all around the apartment. Can you believe we were stone cold sober for all this too!? It’s just how we roll..!

Today we hop on a plane for a short flight to Calgary where we’re teaching another workshop this weekend. Diane + Mike (wedding photographers of epicness – check them out Canadians!) have also promised to take us to karaoke tonight – yessss! Then, on Monday we all shed a tear and head back to our respective corners of the globe. But we won’t have time to be glum for long, we’re going to be reunited in London in just a month’s time – wah!

So how has your week been?

Thursday Treats: Watch The Blogcademy Live from Vancouver!

Greetings from Heathrow airport! Terminal 3 does feel like it’s become a home away from home for me recently. I actually quite like being here, especially as I have my airport routine down. I know which security line is likely to be the quickest (always wait with the single people with briefcases, even if the queue is slightly longer – never get stuck behind a family!) where to get the best deal on currency and who does the most delicious breakfasts (it’s Rhubarb by the way…)

I’m off to Canada for just over a week to teach two more Blogcademy workshops. The first is in Vancouver on 7th and 8th and the second in Calgary on 14th and 15th. We still have a few spaces left for both classes, so if you’d like to come along, we’d love you have you! (Just a gentle word of warning, this is likely to be the only time we ever teach in Canada, so miss out at your peril!)

Now when Gala, Shauna and I get together, most of our conversations inevitably revolve around our favourite subjects – business, blogging and the internet! Which is why we really love hosting our FREE livestreams and inviting you in on the discussion.

We will be broadcasting a LIVE Q&A session from our Vancouver apartment on Tuesday 10th at 11am PST (that’s 2pm EST and 7pm GMT). If you can’t tune in at the time, don’t worry, we’ll record it and put it online afterwards. If there’s something you’d like to know, go through to the event page and submit a question by clicking the Q&A button.

LIVESTREAM_vancouver

Maybe you have some general questions about your blog or business that you’d like us to help with? Or you’ve been wondering something about Home School or our Mixer event? Maybe you just want to know what shampoo Gala uses to get her hair so damn shiny, who Shauna’s musical heroes are or why I’m so obsessed with tea!?

We’ll do our best to answer as many as physically possible in an hour, and we promise, nothing is off limits!

OK, that’s it from me for now. I’m off to catch my flight. Enjoy this week’s Thursday Treats and I’ll see you on the other side (of the pond!)

Thursday Treats: Phew!!

Kat-0006web

Phew – what a week! In case you missed the memo, on Tuesday The Blogcademy launched Home School, online video tutorials covering lots of lovely blogging subjects. I spent most of the day glued to Twitter and my email, squealing with delight every time a new order came in. Thank you everyone for so much amazingly positive feedback. It was a long time coming, so it really is a thrill to see them being enjoyed!

In other news, I’m zipping over to Canada for two workshops next week! We’re teaching in Vancouver on June 7th & 8th and Calgary on 14th & 15th. We still have a couple of spots open for both classes, so if you’d like to come along, we’d welcome you with open arms!

We’re also going to be spending a few days exploring both cities – any recommendations of things to see and do? I just found out that Vancouver has rainbow crosswalks, and am feeling PRETTY DAMN EXCITED about that!

Thursday Treats: Back in the UK (For Now..!)

the-blogcademy-in-san-francisco-rocknrollbride

I feel like I have a million things to tell you! After what seemed like a lifetime preparing for this trip I was so excited to board my flight to New York just over two weeks ago. I stayed with Gala and Mike at their brand new pad for a few days before heading to San Francisco to crack on with our first Blogcademy workshop of the year.

And oh and how wonderful it was. It really was the best possible way to kick off our 2014 world tour. The girls who came to class were diverse, enthusiastic, colourful and completely inspiring!

After a few days on the west coast we were off again, this time jetting towards the Midwest. We’d planned to spend the whole week eagerly exploring Chicago but even this hardened Brit was not prepared for the frigid weather we encountered!

So, instead of chilling ourselves to the bone we spent the majority of our time hauled up in our beautiful Lakeview apartment eating too much pizza and drinking lots of wine. We chatted about life, love, our careers, and everything in between! It was glorious.

The week ended with our second class at a super cool co-working space with the best view of the Chicago skyline. More on this soon!

Our experience here was quite different to our usual adventures. Having so much time in one place was quite weird at first but it did mean that we were able to really decompress, get lots of work done and actually sleep in for once!

In other news, we’ve secretly been working on a big huge new development for The Blogcademy since January, and this week gave us ample time to put some final polish to it. Believe me when I say I can not wait to finally share it with you (the big launch date is next Tuesday, 27th May – put it in your diary!) and I hope you’ll be as excited as we are when you see it.

Oh and did I mention that I’m hitting the road again in just under two weeks time? Eek! We’ll be teaching in Vancouver on June 7th and 8th and Calgary on June 14th and 15th. I’d love to see some of my Canadian contingent there!

So… what did I miss?
