When wedding photographer Anna Hardy told me that she just shot a wedding where the bride wore the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress from the first Sex and the City movie, I was excited, damn excited. As someone who not only owns the entire box set of SATC but pretty much watched in a week straight when I got it, I couldn't wait to see how a real bride looked in this iconic gown. And the answer? FIERCE.Read more...

Lara and Gav were married in Lara's parent's back garden. They set up a marquee and decorated it with collected and borrowed items from friends and junk shops. "The garden was beyond perfect despite the rain", explained the bride. "It has been lovingly created and maintained by my parents since they moved in 15 years ago. It has always played host to whimsical parties, and lent itself brilliantly to the occasion."Read more...

Agnes and Liam's Balham Bowls Club wedding was full of budget-friendly DIY details. "We did everything we could to not have a theme - if we liked something, we used it, regardless if it went with anything else or not!" the bride began. "We said from the outset that we wanted everything to be a joint decision, and Liam to be as involved as me in our choices."Read more...

Unbelievably, Myles and Cait spent just $2000 on their incredibly detailed Maine wedding. Held at PLD Auction Barn in Mechanic Falls, the wedding was thrifty and gorgeous. Cait wore a dress made up of two summer dresses from oasap.com, $8 shoes from Goodwill and borrowed jewellery. Myles' outfit was also thrifted from Goodwill stores.Read more...

The submission I received for Jessica and David's wedding began "If Wes Anderson was a wedding planner..." so instantly my interest was sparked. The Philadelphia wedding was a quirky Southern BBQ with retro touches. "I never knew what to say when people asked what the theme was", explained the bride. "I'd reply with 'It's a wedding... isn't that the theme?' I guess it was more about the color and the mood we wanted to create. I love retro fashion and I also love all those farm/ garden weddings all over wedding blogs. I also had our budget in mind and keeping in the budget helped make a lot of decisions about said theme... so maybe we can call it a budget retro summer garden party!"Read more...

Abbie and Daniel were married at The Paintworks in Bristol, a converted industrial building in the city's creative quarter. They didn't set out to have a theme but the bride's outfit was quite 50s, they served fish n chips and had an ice cream tricycle for desert, and they had a DJ who played only 90s music - so I guess you could say the wedding was all the things they liked!Read more...

I always have a bit of a soft spot for Steampunk weddings. Although they're not my personal style, I love how much effort the couples that plan them put in. The attention to detail is always incredible! Sadie and Kyle's wedding at Fiddle Lake Farm in Thompson, Pennsylvania was no different.Read more...

Naomi and Glen spent just £4000 on their amazing boho wedding in a yurt in September. They saved money everywhere - from the bride having her dress made by a friend, the food being made by friend and family, DIY stationery, the flowers being arranged by Glen's mum and the cake being made by Naomi's sister in law!Read more...

They met online and with a mutual love of all things nerdy (their first date was eating cheese toasties and watching Dark Crystal) they connected instantly. They were married in August at Sole Street House in Kent. "Our theme evolved into a relaxed, geeky garden party", wrote Kirsty. "Vintage touches and having the full day to relax into the venue meant that it felt very natural and laid-back. We picked a colour theme of teal and asked all of our guests to wear something to match. As time went on, it became green and blue in all of the shades but it meant that we could relax about a 'theme' and still have everything come together."Read more...

Yellow, teal and silver were the colours of Jess and Rob's June wedding. The event was held in their own home, mostly in their back garden, in Connecticut. The wedding was kept casual, with no bridal party or speeches and with the main aim being that everyone had a really great time.Read more...

Evelynne and Evan were married in Kings Cross St Pancras station. A weird place for a ceremony you might think, but it meant a lot to them as a couple. "With me being from Brazil and Evan being from America, travel is very much a recurring theme in our lives", wrote Evelynne . "We decided to get married at St Pancras Station as it is just a stunning building and we wanted the place to speak for itself without too many props."Read more...

Oh I do love when I get to blog both the engagement shoot and wedding of such an awesome couple. I actually don't post too many of the former, but Jesse and Chris's cemetery session really stood out so I just had to! I made their photographers, Sarah and Rachel of Sugar and Spice Weddings, promise that she'd send me their wedding pictures after it happened too, and I'm thrilled to share them with you all today. You'll see why...Read more...

Mallory and Euan's wedding was held in the bride's Grandparent's house in Seattle. They had the ceremony in the front garden, overlooking the ocean, and the reception in the back! "I would say the biggest thing that defined our wedding was he fact that although we live in London, we decided to have the wedding in my hometown, Seattle", Mallory began. "Ever present in our minds were the constraints of logistics, timing and budget. We both arrived in Seattle three weeks before the wedding for a marathon of final preparations, crafting and trying to squeeze in quality time with all the amazing friends and family who helped to keep us sane."Read more...
