Help Me Choose the New Rock n Roll Bride Intern

To say that choosing the next Rock n Roll Bride real-bride intern was difficult would be an understatement of immense magnitude. When I posted two weeks ago that I was looking for a new 'Alice' to come and write her wedding planning story for us I expected to receive maybe 10/15 entries...67 applications later and my brain is a little fried from trying to pick the one which I think will have the most interesting story for the blog. So, I'm being a wimp and hoping you, the loyal readers of this 'lil blog will come to my aid and help me! After all, I want you to be inspired by the stories you'll be reading. I have managed to narrow it down to three 'finalists' (for lack of a better word.) Please read their entries, check out their inspiration and let me know who you think should come and write for me. Who's story do you find most interesting? Who writes in a way that makes you want to read more? Who's inspiration board is most inspiring to you? As most of you will already know, the first Rock n Roll Bride intern, Alice, got married and has flown the nest! I initially took Alice on to help out with stuff here and there (photo shoots, parties, wedding shows etc) but over the past 12 months the role morphed into more of an editorial one. Once a month Alice took us into her 'Weddingland', sharing first hand her wedding plans - trials and tribulations included!

I revel in how it connects me with my friends and adore how I can directly speak to my readers on a personal level. The best part however is that when I’m working alone in my nook under the stairs, it makes me feel a lot less of a looooser in my wedding/photography/blogging obsession. I walked in at 10am, looking forward to seeing the first catwalk show of the day but was instantly met with a feeling of depression…not the giddy, excitable feeling that I usually get when I go to work events. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something about this show left me cold. Something was missing and had been replaced by clinical white booths, air kisses and expensive cups of coffee.

Yesterday was my last day as an employee. After nearly 5 years service to the shopping TV industry I've left those studios for the last time. It was a bitter-sweet moment and I left in tears, so unbelievably sad to be leaving my friends. Yet I know making the scary move to running my own business full time is the only way for me. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for me...for us. My best friend sent me this card. It also made me cry.

One of my favourite things about being a wedding blogger is that I see so many different styles of weddings and so many unique and diverse ideas every day. From goth to vintage and from steampunk to modern –every wedding is different and every person behind that wedding is unique. I am also lucky enough to sometimes meet the people behind these weddings (whether that’s brides or suppliers) and I consider many of them to now be friends.

Happieee new year! I trust you all had a suitably fabulous NYE celebration whatever you were up to? Me? Yeah...I was working at the shopping channel until 2am (Rock n Roll!) but at least I haven't woken this morning with a stinking hangover...small mercies hey?! The good news is that it was the last New Year's I will ever have to work for someone else because I am going to be a full time wedding blogger so soon (I can smell it!) NYE 2011 is gonna go off the hook yo! The blogging schedule will return to normal on Monday, but I just wanted to drop by today for some obligatory happy new year's love. Next week I'll even been doing something on the blog that I'm very scared about too, I'm going into 2011 full throttle...eeek. Stand by people, stand by!

I like to refer to this week between Christmas and New Year as 'Crimbo Limbo Week.' It's a strange old time where lots of people aren't working and the majority of the population sit in front of bad telly, stuffing their faces with left over turkey and Christmas chocolate. Time slooows down and no one knows what day of the week it is. Oh and everyone gets sick... or is that just me?

I couldn't resist adding a little bonus personal post this morning...because look what I just became the proud owner of! I think every girl needs a Vivienne Westwood handbag for Christmas. My wonderful friend Peter bought it for me (yeah, I opened it early, whoops) I must have been a very good girl this year! Gareth said it's hideous and that I'm a big loser for asking him to take photos of me flashing it. However I think it suits my hair quite perfectly and that anyone who thought I was strange as I posed in front of the random Christmas shed is clearly just jealous of my fabulous new bag.
