Short Dress

Two Sides to the Story

Kat

December 2, 2009

Allison & Gabe's wedding day started like every other - excitable, elegant, stylish and full of lurrrrve - then night fell and the chaos and fun of rock star proportions ensued! I love how the couple's attire matches their mood - beginning of the day - excited, demure and classy (I adore Allison's simple dress), end of the night - ruffled and rocking the hell out (and again I adore Allison's dress!) In fact it wasn't just the bride who changed - the whole wedding party got changed (the women into ruffles, the men into dinner suits) for the massive party at the end of the night! Photographer Inbal me all about the madness, Allison and Gabe had a ceremony on a boat in the east river, incorporated marriage rituals from basically every religion they could think of (and made up a few of their own), and later had their reception at the Princess Manor in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, who also catered. They had ice sculptures made in their likeness! Kenley from Project Runway crashed the wedding! The bride got so drunk she lost her shoes (I gave her mine and she still has them)! As you can see, they partied pretty hard and made their own rules. Thanks to Inbal for sharing and of course to Allison & Gabe for being too freakin' awesome for words!

Vintage Vegas

Kat

December 2, 2009

A change of plans didn't seem to hinder Amanda & Jim's vintage Vegas photo shoot. They originally planned to have their shoot at the Neon Graveyard (where the old Vegas neon signs go to retire) but due to construction work they had to rethink their ideas. Instead they opted for a whistle-stop tour of the city, stopping at many of the historic, iconic and hilarious (silly sunglasses stand!) sites to take some snaps. Cowboys & Indians

December 1, 2009

I'm pretty sure none of the adjectives flying around my head as I look at these images can do justice to this ridiculously, spectacularly, awesomely, fantastically, edgy and wicked shoot! Alma & David got married in New Orleans and had a cowboys & indians style wedding! The pair actually acted as models in a workshop for 25 photographers who want to learn new techniques and to photograph a couple as cool as they are. I'm sooo excited that photographer Belen sent her shots to me to feature - thanks so much chick! Credit: Gerber + Scarpelli Weddings

Contrast & Style

Kat

November 18, 2009

This Australian wedding blew me away as soon as I laid eyes on that dress! Shannon & Carl got married in Brisbane and had a vintage glam wedding full of quirky and classically styled delights. I am loving the multi-layered, uber cute dress and accessories that Shannon rocked (including her amazing bouquet - le swoon indeed) and the locations are to die for - the glamourous ceremony hotel contrasts perfectly with rough 'n ready portrait site and the super trendy, waterside reception venue. A wedding of contrasts and a wedding of style. Thanks to newcomer Stephen for sharing one of his very first weddings with us.

Off the Hook Carnival Eye Candy

Kat

November 17, 2009

I knew Amy & Jesse's wedding would be off-the-hook with it's intense awesomeness as soon as I saw and blogged their engagements a while back. Surely a couple this offbeat and rockin' couldn't have anything but a super crazy, kooky, inspirational and incredible wedding day could they? However, even I was blown off my chair when I laid eyes on these little beauties. Their DIY, carnival wedding was not only ridiculously creative and awe-inspiring but the couple themselves literally looked like a candy covered explosion of kick ass attitude and fun all over! (By the way I fully realise that my explanation of my thoughts on this wedding probably make little or no grammatical and linguistical sense - however my intense excitement over getting to blog these appears to have rendered by logical brain dysfunctional!) Got it? Right...on with the show... A HUGE Rock n Roll thank you to Marina of Red Heart Photography for sending these over. I couldn't wait to blog these (as always) and so the photos below are actually only part 1 & 2 of her posts. Go check out her blog over the next few weeks for even more eye candy!

Meredith Sweet

Kat

November 5, 2009

I featured Meredith & Justin's cute picnic engagement session a while back so it's only fitting that I also share their wedding...especially as it turned out as pretty as this - hello...?A tea length textured dress with pockets! Meredith's dress came from Melissa Sweet and is called Fiesole. It's a silk strapless tea-length dress with all over horizontal net embellishment and bow at waist and is quite frankly perfect for her. Wow so jealous! hehe Thanks so much to Nina for sharing these!

Perfectly Sweet

Kat

November 4, 2009

Carnival weddings always make me smile. Jenna & Tommy's wedding is no different. I thought I'd share another wedding with you that I did this summer. The bride's last name was Morrissey which made me instantly think of The Smiths (one of my most favorite bands ever). Jenna and Tommy were married in Providence, RI in Roger Williams Park. Their inspiration was that of a 1950's carnival complete with carousel, penny candy and popcorn. The bride stole away during the reception to change into a pink vintage dress to surprise her new husband. Their first dance? "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. Perfectly sweet. Thanks to Olivia for sharing this and making me smile (again - she shoot the Married by a Moose wedding!)

October 27, 2009

A DIY wedding with Holga images? Oh hell yeah baby! Shelly & Jeff had a wedding that perfectly epitomised them. Slurpee Bride

Kat

October 17, 2009

Is it just me or doe s Rachel look a lot like the gorgeous Anna Friel?! Off topic slightly but I just had to thrown that out there. The idea for this shoot came from the bride herself. She had always been a huge fan of Tori Amos and so told photographer Duston Todd that around the time that her idol got married, and in reference to her song 'Jackie's Strength', she was quoted to have said "There’s one side of me that could very easily have ended up at the 7-Eleven sitting outside drinking a Slurpee in my wedding dress and just missing the whole thing. And then there’s the other one that did make it to the church. So, this song is about the one that drank the Slurpee. She’s still out there somewhere.” So that's what they did - they shot outside a 7-Eleven with a slurpee. Cute and elegant all at the same time. Thanks to Duston for sending these over. Le swoon. Too Wonderful for Words

Kat

October 16, 2009

I know I say this a lot but eeek I am so excited to share Vince & Amanda's wedding. I have been lusting over it ever since Lisa of Ophelia Photography showed me a sneaky peak and the full wedding certainly lives up to my hype! The candy coloured wedding took place at Minoru Chapel and UBC Boathouse in Vancouver and Amanda's dress was handmade by her Mother - how rad is that!? Lisa you rock my flipping world girl. Thanks so much for sharing these with Rock n Roll Bride. I heart you!

Country Garden

Kat

October 7, 2009

When reader Kate sent me a sneak peak of her wedding a few month's ago I knew it would be perfect Rock n Roll Bride material - especially after I laid eyes on her Candy Anthony dress! and Christian Louboutin shoes (a steal and brilliant find from Ebay!) As the the groom, Phil, hails from Wales the wedding had a distinctively Welsh theme and took place in Herefordshire on the Welsh border. The day was filled with personal quirky details and although the wedding may not have been as crazy or offbeat as the ones Kate had lusted after when planning her day, it certainly had the British 'cool' thing down. The reception took place at The Chase Hotel where the couple had a cheese cake (as in a cake made of actual cheese) made by Truffles Delicatessen,a personalised cake topper (dressed to match the couple's outfits) homemade welsh cakes baked by Kate and her great aunt. Thanks so much to Kate & Phil for sharing their gorgeous Welsh day with us....congratulations! Credit: Whole Picture
