Second Time Lucky

Both beautiful and fun, this wedding was zipped over to me by newbie photographer Emma Case. I am struggling to believe this is only the second wedding she has ever shot! The Southampton based photographer told me all about Ruth & Dan’s wedding:

Ruth and Dan were married on the 3rd October 2009 at Hartington Hall Youth Hostel in Derbyshire.  They hired the whole hostel for the weekend and guests shared traditional style youth hostel rooms with single beds, bunk beds and shared showers!

The marriage itself was outside in the stone pavilion overlooking the law with Ruth in the most gorgeous laced, 50’s style vintage dress and head dress from Fur Coat No Knickers and custom made emerald green peep toe shoes with a matching green velvet sash.  Dan wore a gorgeously understated tailored grey suit with matching emerald green tie.

The flowers were from Little ‘a’ with gorgeous soft pastel shades and little roses in jam jars hanging outside and the cake was a gorgeous array of cupcakes.

On top of all this, what made the wedding rock and roll for me was the whole relaxed vibe to the day.  There was table football set up in one room, the most hearty food buffet style including sausage butties, ‘free time’ in the afternoon where people could walk into the village or over the fields and then tai lanterns in the evening.

One of the highlights for me was the impromptu photo booth where a huge box of fancy dress was produced and a very cool, vintage style curtain was used as a backdrop and 2 hours later they were still posing!

I think it was the most nerve wracking thing I’ve ever done as most of the guests work for the BBC so there were two proper TV cameras hired to capture the day and possibly the most DSLR cameras I’ve seen in any one place… so no pressure!?!  But I’m sooo please with the results…

Emma then went on to share with me her plans for her photographic future…and her message was so sweet I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing it here!

I’m really going to try and develop my own style from now on and offer a different style of wedding photography… lots of soft colours, sun spots, my holga… something that I would want for my wedding day.

Your blog is so fantastic.. all I do is look at ALL the photos… look at the photographer.. check out their blog/website… feel the jealousy of wanting to take photos like theirs… and then feel the inspiration to make me go out and do it!  Thank you!

Special thanks Emma for sending this wedding over. I predict big things!
