Ellie and Sean’s two-day wedding took place in Eddinburgh. They were married at the Lothian Chambers and hosted their reception the day after back at their own home.

“We knew we wanted to incorporate the colours yellow, purple and grey in to the wedding and for there to also be some unicorns”, said Ellie. “Other than that there wasn’t really a theme.”

“We decided to have our wedding photos taken in the Museum of Scotland. I really wanted some photos under the T-Rex (I played roller derby and my derby name is TeaWrecks) and I’m lucky my husband is my silliness partner in crime and agreed. We walked each other down the aisle, we wanted to start our marriage as we mean to go on, as a team.”

Festive Wedding in Glasgow

Christmas wedding in glasgow (37)

Lisa and Colin’s December wedding had a festive vibe without being overly themed. “I would say our inspiration was our own individual styles and the fact we love to party”, explained the bride. “Oh yes, we were heavy on the party!”

“We considered loads of options for the venue. From village halls to warehouses but no where was quite right. Col suggested The Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Design and Architecture. We visited, had a tour, met the event planner and we booked it on the spot. It is a uniquely stunning venue and was absolutely perfect for us and it was city centre which made it easy for our guests.”

The bride’s dress came from Etsy. “I love disco so I wanted a dress that had a bit of glitter. I made my own headpiece with wire, holly, greenery and ribbon.”

Movie Themed Cinema Wedding in Scotland

Movie themed cinema wedding in scotland (24)

Mandy and Ally LOVE the movies, so when they came to plan their November wedding it was the obvious choice. This was confirmed when they realised they could have their ceremony at the Glasgow Film Theatre!

“I honestly don’t think we would have had a wedding like this if it wasn’t for Rock n Roll Bride”, began Mandy. “Before I found this blog I was thinking it would be in a chapel followed by a meal at a hotel. Whilst this is lovely for some people, it just didn’t feel right for us. We’re both huge movie buffs and go to the GFT every Christmas to watch It’s a Wonderful Life, so when we were looking around for the perfect venue I felt like I had nothing to lose by asking if we could use the cinema. To my surprise, they said they’d hosted a few weddings over the years and, thanks to the great Scottish law, we were legally married there!”

“Prior to my arrival the ushers handed out popcorn cones and we played a slideshow of the bridal party which included a picture of the absentee bridesmaid, my dog Skye. This was followed by a short clip from Muriel’s Wedding of Muriel walking down the aisle to ABBA. We then played another short clip from 10 Things I Hate About You of Heath Ledger singing ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’.”

The reception was completely decorated by the couple, using all their own movie memorabilia from home. Their tables were named after some of their favourite films. “All the centrepieces were from our personal figurine collection apart from vases which were bought from Home Bargains. We made a videotape table plan and the movie table posters, using our faces in place of the movie stars, were made for us by a friend. The top table was It’s A Wonderful Life.”

Intimate Winter Wedding in the Scottish Highlands

There’s something so extra special about tiny weddings and Hannah and Calum only invited very close friends and family to their December wedding. They were married at private house by Loch Lomond. They hired it for the full weekend and everyone stayed there with them.

“We wanted a relaxed weekend with friends and family with a wedding in the middle”, said the bride. “From the beginning we knew we wanted to do a lot of it ourselves with all of our guests pitching in. Everybody helped out, from baking the wedding cake, to creating the ceremony room, to arranging the flowers, to keeping everybody fed for the weekend. Our inspiration was that we just wanted to have lots of delicious food and spend the weekend with our favourite people.”

The bride wore a silvery grey dress (which she designed herself with the help of a dressmaker) and a green cloak that was over 100 years old and had belonged to her grandmother. “We had grand plans to whisk Hannah and Calum off and make the most of the stunning Loch Lomond scenery”, took over photographers Tino & Pip. “However that was scuppered somewhat by the raging storm! We did get a few cracking shots of them standing together braced against the wind and rain inches from the water’s edge. Hannah’s dress and cloak certainly looked dramatic against the landscape!”

BYO Village Hall Wedding in Scotland

pink haired bride uk wedding (16)

Victoria and Alan were originally planning to marry in June. However after organising everything for a year, Victoria fell pregnant so decided to push back to October, after their son had been born.

The wedding took place in a village hall in central Fife, Scotland. “We’d originally planned a big castle wedding”, the bride began. “However once I fell pregnant and we pushed the day back, we decided to scale everything back and spend less. The last thing we wanted to do was worry about the costs. After all we now had a new born to look after! We ended up in a village hall having a BYOB (bring your own booze!) party.”

“I’d say the theme was a bit vintage, rustic and inspired by the WW1 era”, she continued. “I looked online for ideas, searching for how they might have styled their weddings in 1914. We wanted to give our day a modern twist too though.”
