There were two things we wanted to do with our Jan/Feb issue's shoot – to inject some much-needed colour into the proceedings, and to play around with gender expression. We’ve never had a male cover star, or done a shoot with just a male model, and this theme felt like the perfect opportunity to finally do so.

If you grew up in the 80s and early 90s you probably have fond memories of movies like The NeverEnding Story and Labyrinth. The Jim Henson fantasy film starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly was a particular favourite of ours, and the bubble scene and Sarah’s ball gown made for perfect inspiration for issue 40's editorial shoot.

FORTY ISSUES? How on Earth did that happen? It's wild to think back to when we published the first issue of the magazine (waaaaay back in January 2015!) and how much has changed since then. I can now to look at all those magazine stacked on my shelf and realise just how much content we've produced, just how many people have read a copy and just how many weddings have been influenced by it. Blows my damn mind!

OK hear me out, while 2020 sucked in many, MANY ways, also, it was kind of amazing. We got to spend time at home, we started to appreciate the small things, we realised just how lucky we are to have the NHS and we got to revaluate what is really important to us, too. While having to postpone your wedding was obviously a massive suckfest, it did give you more excuses to buy more issues of Rock n Roll Bride magazine soooooo who can really be mad about that!?

Featured inside and on the cover of issue 34 of the magazine, the inspiration for this shoot was to find the art in the everyday, to remind us that life is beautiful and creativity is everywhere – we just have to know where to look for it. Whatever craziness the world throws at us next, there will still be art, love and creativity to inspire us.
